  1. The Nazi thing has already happened on this thread 😬
  2. When and where has anyone said 'nobody needs to do anything else'?
  3. We must never compare London with Amsterdam, it just won't do. They are completely different cities. Hey - look what they're doing in Warsaw and Turin! :)
  4. I really don't want to hear anyone's political, religious or other messages blaring out of a loudspeaker when I'm on a bus. That's a public nuisance! Well done for having a word!!
  5. Thank you - I didn't even know what that is, but I do now - and where to get it.
  6. There's no way of knowing exactly how all their future customers will travel to and from. But there are nurseries everywhere (even in that street), so not sure why someone would travel from out of area to take their kids to that one. The other nurseries may well legitimately feel their business would be threatened by a new competitor. As much as I wouldn't wish any other business to suffer, that's how a free market operates, and isn't grounds to deny planning consent, is it?
  7. I didn't know it had been left to the community - could you shed any light on that? It's 500M from the train station, I think a lot of people would drop their kids and walk on to get the train to work.
  8. Is that limited to the Lounge? :)
  9. He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, and lived there into early adulthood. Is that what you think we sound like?
  10. Gala have offered residents heavily discounted tickets each year since they started.
  11. Sure... in the same way that ex Labour MPs hold loads of influence with the current government? And Sarah Palin is currently shaping policy for the Biden administration?
  12. In Melbourne Grove, it?s probably something else. It?s really not that loud.
  13. Which in turn was heavily indebted to samples and interpolations from the music of the generation before... Peckham Rye Park really is as good a location as anywhere else within the borough; certainly anywhere that isn't already hosting something similar. It's a densely populated area, where else within Southwark would you suggest that doesn't have residential property nearby?
  14. That?s a pretty bleak outlook on life. Are your u sure it?s the loud music that?s keeping you from getting a good night?s sleep??
  15. We live just one road away from the Common and currently can?t hear a thing. Have been able to at other times. No big deal. What is with all the inverse, ooh I hope you don?t die in A&E or get an overdose from taking too many tabs malarkey? That?s very unpleasant. I?d imagine most people who work in A&E have a perspective on life that allows them not to get too worked up about something as trivial as a bit of music in the park.
  16. It was good. The weather came and went a bit, but we mainly kept dry. The only covered area with music was tooo busy but the other stages were fine. It got quite muddy and I guess will stay that way. So don?t wear your favourite shoes :) And most importantly, have fun!!
  17. Burgess Park, Brockwell Park and Crystal Palace Park all have similar events with large crowds and amplified music.
  18. Indeed -- something we all can all agree on?
  19. Commercial diesel vehicles are included, I thought. Buses emit more pollution per vehicle than cars, but way less per journey taken. But then you already knew that... :(
  20. Who says embarrassing the government is a crime?? It's news to me
  21. Let's not forget, the number one reason that local government would like to reduce private car travel is to reduce localised pollution to improve the quality of the air we all breathe. Climate change is obviously a factor too, but the driver (scuse the pun) is air quality in our neighbourhood(s) This is from TFL: Air quality myth #2 Myth: Road vehicles aren't the main cause of London's air pollution FACT: Driving polluting vehicles is the single biggest cause, contributing to around half of the air pollution in London https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/about-tfl/air-quality So I would respectfully suggest that arguments about gas boilers and coal fired power stations in China are red herrings when it comes to this debate. Important topics though they may be in their own right.
  22. None taken - not by me anyway. Just thought the link would be helpful.
