  1. What, people earning over ?45k trying to fuck up the economy, you say..? I've never heard the like.
  2. For Shoreditch I currently take the bus - 78 from Peckham Rye side, or get to Camberwell and then the 42 / 35. Takes an average of an hour door to door to Shoreditch Town Hall - on a good day 40 minutes, on a bad day (with those hideous roadworks around Liverpool St) 1h 15. But that doesn't happen often. That said, I don't tend to be travelling in rush hour, so it's probably worse then. Looking forward to the East London Line opening to Peckham Rye station as that should speed things up considerably. If you're anywhere near to Forest Hill, then yeah, reckon the overground's going to be your best route.
  3. Just me, not *Bob* too? We both had our suspicions that dogwoman was a troll, but only my suspicions are odd?

Low and behold . . Yes, yes. This. Post hoc ergo propter hoc. It's true I tell you.
  5. Hmm, but pearls before swine doesn't denote foreigners - rather it's about not wasting your time on people who don't value the gospel. And in the dog-woman incident, well that's not the nicest thing to say for sure, but he cures her daughter anyway. See also: Jesus hangs out with hookers and The Good Samaritan.
  6. Marie81, I rather think that alice is correct and that dogwoman is not who s/he claims to be. A surfeit of exclamation marks wouldn't seem to tally with a grey bob and green overcoat. j'accuse...

Heh, Huguenot, you're such a cunt. Get off wikipedia and do some work. I don't really care about Bury - apart from their fabulous black puddings of course. I'm from Wigan, went to school in Bolton, and went out / shopping in Manchester. I can tell you that they are distinct. I can also tell you that if you took your soft southern poncey self up to Bury and told them Elbow are from Manchester, they'd punch you in the face. And you'd be none the worse off forrit I reckon ;-)

No, not really. Greater Manchester is a county however. And Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale etc all towns. So in that regard, the London / Southwark analogy was exactly spot on. Incidentally it's "Wiganer" or "pie-'ead"

And Strafer, you were agreeing with all that Quids had to say, who said, So you know, pshhht. Yeah.

Come now Quids: the Halle? Buzzcocks? Charlatans? And Strafer, a plague on your house...
  17. Fuck Fortnum and Mason, their food hall's rubbish. Give me Selfridges food hall, next door to Waitrose, next door to M&S Simply Food, and then maybe, finally, the too-lazy-to-cook and too-posh-to-eat-beans people will let this thread die.
  18. What'm I taking you task over Hughie, the sexual submission comment? Is there a suggestion he somehow bullied his secretary into an affair? If so I was unaware. But let me know, and I'll whup your ass accordingly.
  19. Seconded on the Time Out Book of Walks - I haven't done one I haven't enjoyed, they're all in easy reach of London, they all have great pubs for lunch (and many with options for afternoon tea too), and you can choose your perfect walk based on how energetic you're feeling (difficulty rating and length of walk). In fact, spring is upon us, it's time I got my copy off the shelf.
  20. To quote treehugger, "oh for goodness sake"! Can anyone on here lighten up a bit and take things as tongue in cheek instead of wringing their hands incessantly about just how mean everyone is. It's most unbecoming. And Miss P, I didn't mean you. I was just joshing with you. It sounds like the telling off was completely warranted - but while your opening line said "I would like to apologise", over half your post was dedicated to telling the jogger precisely what she did wrong, which sort of overrides the apology really. Like I say though, sounds like she deserved it. She should be handing back her Tufty club badge.
  21. It wasn't really an apology though was it, Miss P? It was a bit of a telling-off.
  22. RobertsonCrusoe, did you read Strafer's link?
  23. This is a strange thread. silverfox, if the only value you can find for anything in life is monetary, then yours is a sad existence indeed. MM, I find ugly clothes, hair, make up, voices, children most displeasing - but by and large, I'm of the opinion that people should be able to wear what they like.
