My friend is well up the duff, and we're hoping for one last hurrah before she pops, and are planning a weekend at the end of June. Thing is, I can't take a day off work at the moment, so it will need to be somewhere we can get to on Friday after work and back on Sunday night (or even at a push, Monday morning in time to be in work by 10). And that not be too much of a stress. She's a right pernickety one, so Paris is out, as is a spa weekend, unless it's somewhere where there's other stuff to do (she's a bit fractious). I fancied Lyon, so we could gorge ourselves on all manner of deliciousness, but there are so many things that are off the menu, that seems to be a no-go. Anyone got brilliant ideas?

Hell yeah - cats are estimated to kill 55 million birds a year, so hard to condemn the crows for protecting their nest. The answer is to keep him indoors.

Good - o = God. Evil + d = Devil. You have been warned.

To Be Born An Englishman Is To Win First Prize In God's Lottery
RosieH replied to woodrot's topic in The Lounge
You know in The Simpsons, when Mr Burns touches something fresh (for instance a flower, or food in the canteen) and it turns to rotten slime, does anyone else think of woodrot? Let a little sunshine into your soul, man. There are over a million words in the English language, and only one of them is Grinch. -
I'm just horrified that Annette would have pinto beans with spaghetti. How can the bean cling to the strand? No no no, this will not fadge.

I don't see how they're any worse than the equivalent products from M&S / Sainsbury's / Tesco etc: burritos, filled jackets, toasted sandwich - granted the yorkshire pudding roll looks pretty lowest common denominator, but that's just food snobbery on my part, based in no way on nutritional information. So I'll ask again, how do justify saying they're appalling for health? And in that regard, how do they differ from any of the major multiples.

Wow, UDT, you found a film of Huguenot and MP? Kudos. Undisputedtruth Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Ever wondered why M&S customers think their food > is so good? Hurrah, how lovely!

Oh for the love of god, is this forum entirely populated by imbeciles? I've never heard such hogwash. So: 1) Ready meals aren't inherently unhealthy 2) Knocking up a spag bol in 15 minutes (hmm, can't think it's particularly tasty, tomatoes take a good while to cook to umami goodness) is still more time consuming that sticking a tray in the oven, because once you've stuck said tray in oven, you can piss off for 15 minutes and do something else 3) M&S food = good; all other supermarkets food = bad. What tosh - does anyone ever read an actual taste test? (come on Observer readers, there's one in OFM every month) Some M&S food good, some other-major-retailer food better. There's nothing across the board about it. 4) People who haven't used the local shops previously will suddenly do so because while confronted with cheese and meat in M&S, they will think, "No, I have only come here for my Indian banquet for 2, I will purchase my butchery from yon butchers, and my fromage from the monger of cheese across the way." Bollocks - you didn't before, you won't now, You're driving, you're in the car park, you'll get your plastic-wrapped, perfectly adequate mild cheddar and pound of mince and feck off back to Sydenham. Ye gads - does the very idea of convenience food lower the collective IQ?

I don't disagree Quids. I just think Boris is an abomination and I can't stand the idea of more of his ego-bus buffoonery and obfuscation. I find him incredibly divisive, and although I'd rather have Ken, it's a lesser of two evils question for me. Used to love Ken, but the tax issue is absolutely indefensible.

Dunno, but I'm hoping for something in the Avengers Assemble vein. A Nick Fury eye patch.

El Pibe, I don't like what you're implying. I'm not going to be DMing candid snaps of myself in the nuddy if that's what you're thinking. For that kind of caper, I'd have to ask that my burger was made by Thomas Keller at the very least. Mitch, my twitter follow is yours for a McDonalds happy meal, provided I get to keep the toy. Edited, because christ-on-a-bike, I can't use apostrophes any more it seems.

Boris inclusive? Christ, we're in a bad state if he's the most inclusive we've got.
-
Is this all just some huge reverse psychology bid to get more followers on twitter? I'll ask to follow you if you'll buy me a burger. Oh, and have you added your twitter feed to the "who to follow on twitter in ED" thread in the other section? You should.

I'm not doing lunch if I have to pay for it AND bung him a score after (score - can that be right? Doesn't sound right. I looked it up, trying to be a bit Danielle Dyer).

Dan Mangan was quite exceptional at Bush Hall last night. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a gig so much. And of course a little audience participation always goes down a treat. Playing Sunday at the Camden Crawl if anyone fancies a slice of awesome songwriting, killer guitars, beautiful lyrics and a most excellent horn. Don't know if the mighty Zeus are supporting on Sunday too but they are definitely worth checking out too.

Use of the possessive with the gerund, surely? Do posh folks even eat red sauce?

Man oh man oh man - I need that phone. I also need Otta's lamp. I love this forum. Jack Bollocks can kiss my sassafrass.

When I get angry or irritated I stroke summat else and it calms me down. What is wrong with me this afternoon?

Say, Hitch tart? Are you asking me if I would like a slice of the mighty might fine, but-a-little-bit slightly promiscuous, Will Smith? Damn straight I would. Gimme.

Got a freelance job that has me office-bound for 3 months. My desk faces the wall and the strip lights above don't help. By this time of day, my eyes are killing me. I look over to other parts of the office (next to windows) and it's a veritable oasis of daylight, and my eyes seem to like it better there. So I wondered if a daylight lamp would help, at this rate I feel like I'm going to go blind, so it'd be worth the investment if they actually work, (and if they can compensate for nasty strip lighting). Anyone experienced?
