    Great Gigs

Will it be any good? Nostalgia's not what it used to be...
  2. In your post you write, "If you?re a member or supporter of Amnesty International you might want to ask them why they?re working with Redwood." I'm just wondering if you did before posting? That's not meant to be accusatory, I just genuinely wonder. I do agree with you about the need to vet who you work with, but I wonder also about pragmatism: is there a viable alternative to Redwood who hasn't worked with someone less than squeaky clean? (there may well be, I just haven't looked into it yet)
  3. Heh, have discovered that going out for a "journalist briefing" and sitting drinking cocktails in the sun can take up a wee while. Sadly, memorising people's footsteps won't work - 3,000 peeps in the building - a sisyphean task worthy of Joanie's friend in Happy Days when she had to memorise the phone book to get into a sorority. And DJ / Mr Ben, am not normally such a slacker. However finish my job a week tomorrow (found out yesterday), having been a little f*cked over, and having worked endless unpaid overtime, so really, careth... Bring on the prosecco-based little cups of summer!
  4. Ha - me on Tuesday. Yay, am not alone.
  5. I find that I don't care today. Work are a bunch of *&%$s and I intend to do nothing for the rest of the day. But I'm even lacking the wherewithal for ingenuity. What's the best way of doing nothing, without visibly doing nothing? (coming on here notwithstanding - have learned to minimise the window so the smilies aren't visible and I could be typing into any old document - almost)
  6. Don't put your bedding in the wash Tillie, or you'll come home late and drunk and be forced to sleep on the sofa, rain or no rain.
  7. What's the dynamic forecast? I don't know this thing.
  8. Yes, agree with Jeremy. It's only the pubs on side streets that you're likely to find quiet.
  9. Yes, I find looking out of the window most informative.
  10. Hahaha, oleaginous smarm-cretin. Priceless.
  11. I would far rather be stunted by an inch in height because my mum had a cigarette when she was pregnant with me than be emotionally stunted and spend my entire adult life in therapy because my mum's a judgemental psycho. They f*ck you up, your mum and dad...
  12. Hey Quids, I'm a Guardianista through and through, and there are some days that I'd stab you as soon as look at you. Well maybe not you, but certainly someone. Just because Sean's super-nice, doesn't mean we all are (although you remember the skinhead advert right? don't judge us just because we look like bleeding heart liberals, some of us have imaginary crossbows).
  13. David, I use all of those except "wally".
  14. Heh, you tell 'em LegalB
  15. Liking it. Well I tried suggesting shooting cats with my imaginary crossbow, but no one went for it. I do hate cats though - spawn of satan that they are.

    Magaluff
  17. I have a crossbow that anyone's welcome to borrow. Of course I'm not sure whether the spawn of satan require arrows of a particular metal...

Damn you Jah - I was about to put that one up. I used to have a slightly pornographic dance routine to that one.
  19. I think fireworks should be compulsory every night to encourage children and cats to acclimatise.

Well, but for the decent English, I was going to say Blackpool...
  21. You probably already know about Kids Company, but I can't recommend it highly enough. They work with inner-city London kids (and are really locally based, which from your post, I thought might interest you). They give vulnerable kids the educational, emotional and practical support to set them on the right path in life. Living where we do, I can't think of a better use for your money.
  22. Portixol in Mallorca is fabulous - the hotel Puro there has an amazing bar and great club nights (great to stay there but it's fairly expensive - I stayed for a long weekend - but for 2 weeks you could stay nearby and party there).
  23. Golly Miss P, you must be really quite tall. Sorry, I'm with MM on this one - fireworks ARE glorious, fun, noisy and pretty. London's noisy, and if it's not fireworks (which, let's face it, are very few and far between) it could be cars backfiring, parties, sirens... And what IS the right time of year for fireworks? Chinese New Year? Thai New Year? Diwali? Eid? July 4th? Someone's wedding? Someone's 50th anniversary? Someone's birthday?
