Goose Green councillors - how can we help?
richard tudor replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Does seem like you ask too many questions that he really does not want to answer. Rockets you do seem to ask questions that others should be asking but prefer not to ask. You seem to have your finger on the pulse. -
exdulwicher May I ask a direct question to you and I am not being rude. Are you furloughed as you do seem to have a great deal of time to respond with quite long and detailed answers or putting forward point of view which seems to imply the car must be tamed. Perhaps those shopworkers would welcome people using their cars, which they have paid all the expenses to allow them to do so, which would save their jobs by making shopping a pleasant experience and not forcing people to buy online because of the constant war against the car. Carrying purchases and bags of shopping on public transport is not a pleasant experience.

"Why on earth would you want to re-open Melbourne Grove? As a resident of this road for over 30 years, I have seen the rapid decline in air quality, safety and a huge increase in noise pollution. This is totally due to the huge increase in traffic and the general noise pollution from cars. It has been an unsafe street to cross at busy times for some time and has hugely devalued the quality of life for local residents. Cars have had priority on this street for too many years. I know for a fact that I have seen a local resident regularly driving their precious child to the new school in the road. Too idle to walk and quite willing to be totally selfish and clog up the road with their car. Then I have witnessed the same parent driving back and parking outside their home. It must have been all of 800 yards. Cars do not, and should not have priority over the interests of the local residents. I totally agree with the new measures, and wish them to remain permanent, and make our environment greener and cleaner for children and adults alike. "Cars have had priority on this street for too many years. I know for a fact that I have seen a local resident regularly driving their precious child to the new school in the road. Surprised after 30 years you now have to say something on a local forum about a road that has always been used as different route to Lordship Lane. I am all right jack comes to mind lets others have the problem we have a nice closed off road now.

Parking fine on Gowlett Road
richard tudor replied to MJRealDavies's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
MJRealDavies Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I got a ?165 fine for parking outside my house on > Gowlett Road today. Anyone else know anything > about this? I didn't even know we were supposed to > have permits. Been here a year without any problem > and never received a letter from the council > saying otherwise. Anyone else in the same boat? I would say you were just unlucky, see below Dear Mr Tudor Thank you for your email. The parking restrictions in the borough have remained in place. However, due to the coronavirus lockdown period, enforcement action has been focused in this time on dangerous parking rather than against unpermitted parking. With the development of lockdown advice, enforcement action against unpermitted vehicles will be resuming shortly Regards Councillor Richard Livingstone Labour councillor for Old Kent Road ward Cabinet Member for Environment, Transport and the Climate Emergency -

are any toilet facilities open in Dulwich park?
richard tudor replied to chaz123's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Can you not use the toilet facilities in the main office block? or do staff have to keep their legs crossed all day? -
The decision-making process These measures, if implemented, will be done through an Experimental Traffic Order. These are new processes introduced by the government to get work moving quickly in response to the new circumstances of the pandemic. Unlike other similar traffic orders, they do not require any consulation at all. Nearby local authorities have introduced wide-ranging changes using these, without any consultation. In Goose Green, we have prioritised measures which we suspect - from previous consultations and other methods - will have wide support. To be extra sure, we have run this very short survey as well. The measures are temporary. They can be removed at any time. But they can also be made permanent after 18 months. We would have to see their impact before making this d You mean like the Champion Hill closure, closed and never heard of again. Dont bring it up people will forget and we will get our way. Once closed or altered it will never go back. Covid19 will allow us to do what ever we want.

The elephant in the room regarding this is how will it effect residents house prices? Most people in Melbourne and other streets will back any scheme if it will raise the value of their house by turning it into a private enclave. The vocal few and a Council that wants to push any scheme through will not consider others in the borough. I will put my tin hat on now.

Free Travel (Freedom Pass) Over 60's Suspended
richard tudor replied to DulwichFox's topic in The Lounge
Probably like me 8~9 is for elderly and disabled customers. Also if you are anywhere you have to be be on a bus before the rush hour or you cannot use the pass. Many pensioners like me only have a freedom pass so in essence I am being locked down unable to go anywhere as using busses in the rush hour period will be expensive. My day suddenly becomes very much shorter or a great deal longer if I have to wait for the rush hour to end. How many pensioners actually take public transport in the rush hours. Also what happens if you have an hospital appt in the afternoon and are delayed for whatever reason. The freedom pass should remain as it is as elderly people do not abuse it. The more Mr Khan thinks the worst it gets as he does not think things through to a sensible conclusion. I do think you have to ask the question "Would you buy a secondhand car from this person with confidence. -
Free Travel (Freedom Pass) Over 60's Suspended
richard tudor replied to DulwichFox's topic in The Lounge
On LBC this morning it was confirmed by the Gov that the Gov did not force Khan to raise the congestion charge nor extend the times. This was told to the Guardian and they reported it to the public. It was left to him to decide what was best. Just who do you believe. -
Free Travel (Freedom Pass) Over 60's Suspended
richard tudor replied to DulwichFox's topic in The Lounge
Freedom Pass is a concessionary travel scheme, which began in 1973, to provide free travel to residents of Greater London, England, who are aged 60 and over (eligibility age increasing by phases to 66 by 2020) or who have a disability. The scheme is funded by local authorities and coordinated by London Councils. Originally the pass was a paper ticket, but since 2004 it has been encoded on to a contactless smartcard compatible with Oyster card readers. Why was there no problems before Khan took over? Perhaps the Gov should have audited the books more closely, Pensioners have never been a problem with cost. Since when did Khan run Southwark Council who issue the freedom pass? -
Thank you for the only response. All I want to know is it only one person allowed in or can two people go together as a couple. Why is it so difficult for some one to ask and reply.

richard tudor replied to Boscombe's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks for posting info much appreciated -
Thanks Teddyboy. The only person to have responded to help people. Perhaps people are worried that if they tell what the situation is they will not be able to stock up. As most people cannot take a piss unless commanded by twitter I can understand it,

I have just watched a neighbour unload 6 large bags of shopping. Is this a sign that panic shopping at Sainsbury's has raised its head again. Is it worth going?
