  1. In a flat situation you will no doubt be able to rely on the lease's covenants for this. If it were a house it'd have to be quite frequent and persistent noise before you'd find anyone at the council willing to help you.
  2. I just can't understand why these works weren't all packaged together with the last 3 times they set up temporary lights and closed the bus stop in the last 6 months. The cost savings would have been enormous not to mention the reduction in total chaos. And yet still the dilapidated section of road between GG and EDG remains untouched in an island-like state with every adjoining road now repaved. The people managing these works must be about the most incompetent of their kind in existence.
  3. Hi Renata, are Academies required to publish this information separately?

  5. I'm can't say I'm especially happy that the sorting office is being moved but there are about 10 or 15 local shops that accept deliveries from all sorts of delivery companies including Royal Mail. Make use of one of them. And buy a few items in there while you're at it or they may not continue the service. Royal Mail has to stand on its own feet now and there's just no way loads of local sorting offices are remotely viable given that reality.
  6. Yep. Crawthew Grove was in his sights last night. Collared me in the street while I was carrying a sleeping child and then hammered on my door a minute after I got home. Needless to say I didn't open up.
  7. Perfect size for a Little Waitrose. And right opposite M&S too 😀
  8. The 'hell' you speak of is how most Londoners live. I fail to see how the good people of ED wouldn't cope along with them. And most of your scenarios relate to a full day CPZ which I don't believe anyone wants. A single hour of restriction is all that's required.
  9. Crawthew Grove, Frogley Road, Archdale Road, Crystal Palace Road, North Cross Road, Nutfield Road, Spurling Road, Matham Grove.. that's just for starters!
  10. I think people have been at considerable pains to insist they don't expect to park outside their own house. They merely expect to be able to park within perhaps a 10m walk which is often impossible, making life with young children or restricted mobility especially difficult. The argument that somehow this is an intolerable privatisation of the 'public' realm is totally mad. The entirety of Central London along with most districts at least as far out as ED and beyond are onerously restricted and life as we know it hasn't ended.
  11. kford, you really think an hour a day of restrictive parking could possibly have the doomsday effect you predict? And typically permits in other areas are under ?100. Every neighbouring area to ED has a CPZ, has it killed Herne Hill or Camberwell? And what makes ED so special to be excluded? This kind of scaremongering would otherwise be termed fake news.
  12. Most of the new generation (usually not banks) suppliers of card terminals are charging roughly 1.7% flat on all transactions so retailers with these shouldn't care whether you spend 50p or ?50. And anyone with a terminal that has minimum fee pricing should go elsewhere or renegotiate.
  13. What I think is undeniable is that people who actually live on a particular street should get higher priority than commuters, shoppers, long-term hoggers and estate agents. There are already provisions for those with disabilities both with dedicated spaces and more lenient rules for other parking spaces. The only way to ensure local people get spaces near their homes is a CPZ. How saying that has become so controversial is hard to understand - it works absolutely everywhere else.
  14. Interesting reading James, thankyou. I'm assuming the 20k will also cover the long overdue pedestrian crossing across EDG at the same time? What's been the progress on this? It's been raised time and time again but the council provides no response.
  15. Must say my experience of Dulwich Audi was pretty lacklustre. They returned my car with several parts of the service incomplete, incorrectly filled out logbook and car unwashed even with the invoice stating it had been. I've been going to Halfords in Sydenham ever since: they charge half the price and even after 5 years I still haven't had to replace a single part aside from tyres. They're next to the large Sainsburys. Ask for a manufacturer spec service to ensure your warranty is preserved.
  16. Unfortunately BikeChick that isn't true. We tried this and the council even took our money. The sign they posted was duly ignored and enforcement wouldn't/couldn't do anything about it so our moving day was a disaster. You can't suspend a space unless it already has restrictions, time or permit based, that can be rescinded. Open access public parking spaces cannot be suspended by anyone.
  17. You're overpaying by quite some margin Calsug. We have a similar house and pay about 30.
  18. Hi James, not a single one of us or my neighbours received a letter. We also wonder why Frogley Rd had a good portion of its pavement redone in nice slabs and we have to make do with a practically off-road, extensively pot-holed and utility company-wrecked surface with no plans to relay it?
  19. Legally, no. But if someone requires a skip outside their house or other pressing need, there's just no other way to do it. You can't suspend a public parking space with no restrictions in force. Bring on the CPZ for this and other wondrous benefits.
  20. To people parked on Crawthew Grove right now, Conway are about to begin resurfacing work. They will tow you so I'd get moving fast!
  21. The only evidence of gritting this morning was the 10ft of pavement outside my son's nursery. Complete gridlock, what an extraordinary embarrassment. Even calling the thing the 'beast from the east' wasn't enough to give the council prior warning.
  22. Given how much houses cost, I'm amazed one isn't allowed to stay overnight before offering. People are expected to make a decision in less time than they would take buying a sofa.
  23. I'm with smn143 and no-one can taint my review with accusations of limited posts. A delightful place with just the most friendly staff who are unashamedly child-friendly. Take your screaming babies, every one.

  25. We discovered we're in a similar situation when I asked to have a meter fitted. What we found is that our neighbour shares a supply with us for their kitchen but the rest of their house is on their own connection. TW has put us on some kind of reduced fixed rate tariff for people who can't get a meter. The shared supply never came up in the water searches when we bought the place as I don't think TW has a clue where pipes are round here.
