  3. "i really want to see those fingers" (often said to kids with arm inj's and then realise even the teenagers don't remember Shooting Stars these days - sigh!)

I'm not very good at this. ...that was probably Stephen Frost - he use to do the "bet he drinks Carling Black Label" ads and regularly appears with the Comedy Store Players.
  5. .... is quite scary the number of times I've gone for a break to find everyone watching scrubs in the staff room!
  6. BN5 you've taken my angle!!! Working in the same kind of enviroment as BN5 I am still surprised at the apathy of alot of parents who will let their kids run wild in the play area - any good toys/books are either nicked or broken within weeks of getting them. I find myself hainvg to tell the kids not to climb ontop of the playhouse/desks not to run laps of the department etc - and I have never had a parent have a go at me following this (maybe its the uniform!) When out with friend's then there is a bit of co-parenting - if you see the kids doing something their not meant to its expected that you'll tell them to stop/explain what not to do. What I find difficult is when out in Sainsburys or similar and find children misbehaving - I find myself saying things to them and whether I'm very firm but polite I don't know, but have never had a "what have you said to my child?" moment... can only think I'm way too well practiced and have it off to a fine art/reflex!
  7. oh yes Ms B.... remember one time when Nick Ross announced he wasn't going to say it (and went on not to)... I thought I was daft to feel all unsettled by it, but the next month he was back saying it as there'd been loads of people far more unsettled than me who'd actually complained about it!!
  8. had forgotten about this thread! Saw Lorraine Chase in Sainsbury's last week using their phone at customer services! John Pienaar does live locally - seen him several times! x
  9. ...was Life on Mars really like life was in the 70's or was it like the cop show's known and loved in the 70's? Only saw the first ep of this, but my thought was that it was a pastiche on the way 80's cop shows seemed (how A team was the whole boat chase/shooting at baddies but not killing any of them?!) Also the fact its ?all in Alex's head - maybe her memory of the 80's is that crap!! Course being a late 70's baby both these go over my head a little so maybe I've got it completely wrong!
  10. Would definitly not recommend wearing seatbelts under the shoulder - maybe you should google and see if there's any kind of harness/strapping you can add to a seatbelt to make it more comfortable Gerry. With the belt under the arm instead of over the shoulder you're putting your liver at considerable risk of injury in an accident as opposed to your collarbone and ribs taking the force (ok they might be broken and hurt but repair much easier than a lacerated liver!) Having seen awful injuries to a girl from a car accident over the w/e heartily recommend clunk clicking before every journey (and not trying to cram 7 people into a mini).
  11. I use to get told I looked like Caroline Quentin back when men behaving badly was popular, Annaj - you're much lovelier than Tanita Tikeram!
  12. blimey.... it all happens when I'm not in!!
  13. Go to the Library Hotel, its near Grand Central Station, is a small but perfectly formed hotel, each room has a different theme, with books on the subject in the room!! The really fab thing is that they do free breakfast, and from 4pm have cheese and wine (plus other nibbles) to eat in the lounge as well - great to have then skip starter/have smaller meal out! As they keep the pastries under glass domes, food and hot drinks are pretty much available 24/7. Has fab trip advisor reviews: library hotel
  14. ..loved "No Angels" - have definitely worked with nurses like them!
  15. would look even stranger if just one was out of sequence with the rest!!! No idea of off duty yet, but fingers crossed will be there :)
  16. phew!!
  17. am I the only one who thought the "2" one was for 2 and until I looked, got confused why 3 people would all want to be zipped up together?!! Look great though - would save the risk of draughts when rolling over!!
  18. ... think i'm pulling a funnier face in the one with both of us - cripes knows what I was talking about!!
  19. After early promise of not much of a hangover I've flumped bigtime and am unable to move from my sofa! Sean, now I know you're just up the road I'll keep an eye out for Annaj lurking around... I think I'd be able to get her off your tail by running up and asking a random wedding planning question... possibly waving "Perfect Wedding" mag a la child catcher at her!
  20. was revising this bit yesterday (doing big life support course next wk!) for jellyfish stings they say use vinigar - no mention of urine (bht have seen that ep of friends too!!)
  21. Morning all! Glad I finally made it to a drink-up... was great to put faces to names/posts! Did find time went incredibly quickly though which was odd!! Will hopefully see you all again soon! x
  22. think my other half's toes are odder - he's not got webbed toes, but the skin between his big and 2nd toes comes up a little bit higher than the other toes.... when we get to have kids at least we'll easily tell who's feet they've got!!
