  6. MUDDY BOOTS Outdoor Children's Nature Group at Devonshire Road Nature Reserve. Monday and Friday 10-11.30am. Meet at the iron Reserve gates on Devonshire Road at 9.55. Gates are opposite Tyson road. On street parking available. This Friday is all about BIRDS - thinking of all the different birds we know, looking at some very different real birds nests (some with abandoned eggs inside). We'll be making our own birds nests around the Reserve, complete with eggs and visiting birds. We had a lovely interactive moment this week when one of our friendly Reserve robin's answered the call of our RSPB soft toy singing robin! Hope to do that again. We'll finish off reading some bird stories, singing bird songs and learning a few bird rhymes. Weather looks dry - the last two rainy forecasts have turned out to be completely dry for Muddy Boots, so just bring a raincoat, but dont be put off by rain in the forecast, its often inaccurate and the woods are lovely whatever the weather! You can see it, touch it and if you're lucky see the frogs busy in the pond! We'll be learning about the fascinating life cycle of a frog and making frog life cycles to take home. Its a drop in session, so no need to book. ?7/ child, two siblings for ?10 The session lasts one and a half hours - we learn about nature at basecamp, do a nature related activity, have an explore in the woods and finish off with a snack and a drink, with stories and songs back at basecamp. It'll be dry and cold so we're having a fire and the first hot chocolate of the winter to keep our fingers warm! Pitched at all preschoolers from abt 14m upwards. It's a drop in session and all welcome. The reserve is looking lovely with fallen leaves, bring yr wellies, double socks, hats gloves and scarves to stay cosy on the woodland walk. We will be whittling and decorating wands and making fences for small animals. All activties pitched at preschool aged children. i.e. no knives ; ) Tomorrow's forecast is dry for the session (rain clearing overnight) but bring a waterproof coat and wellies (if you have) just incase.
