    India visa

Has anyone recently applied for a tourist visa for India? If so, did you go and line up in person or get a visa company to do it for you? Thanks.
  2. People who say "diaper" instead of "nappy", "gotten" instead of "got", "cell phone" instead of "mobile" really get my goat, unless they're from North America.
  3. Tell them the boundaries before you leave them. I left some workies my keys whilst I went on holiday. They were there for about five days, all in all, and when I returned the work was done (decorating, plastering, rendering and removal of old render) and the house was as I left it. If they had taken tea or coffee they'd replaced it, as I did't notice any difference. (There was no milk in the fridge anyway.) Don't feel bad about confronting them. It's rude, unprofessional and disrespectful: they took a liberty and it left you feeling uncomfortable in your own home, which is hardly a good calling card to leave.
  4. Being discussed today, Friday, on Today at about 0820.

  6. Gargle with hydrogen peroxide solution. I bit the back of my tongue in my sleep in November. I didn't wake up at the time - sound sleeper that I am - but when I got up the next day I couldn't talk, was in great pain, and remained like that for three days. Swallowing was nasty because my tongue moved over the tooth in exactly the same place as it had been bitten! The H2O2 solution really helped.
  7. Luca's - I was there last Friday and had a nice scrambled egg with tea (in a pot) for ?4.70. Has it closed since? Blue Brick Cafe is great, and Pretty's ?5 deal is hard to beat, though Duck Egg (?) near it is good too.
  8. Could a protective glaze be put on it?
  9. "Neighbouring occupiers include Caffe Nero, Oliver Bonas, White Stuff and Jojo Maman Bebe" says the spiel. Louisa, your tingling spidey senses just might be right?..
  10. Looking forward to Pablo's reappearance and to other art projects in and around SE22 this May.

  12. It would scrub up well. The lines and proportions are attractive, but in its current state it looks utilitarian and frumpish.
  13. I am not for tagging - ugly, brutish and sometimes gang-related - but if the house owner on whose property the art is placed has agreed to it, then I'm for it, DF. It's true that not all of it will be to everyone's taste, but since that is unlikely to ever happen it's not an excuse not to do it.
  14. I agree that it's a shame that the art has been removed. There has been vandalism of the more traditional kind to art near to East Dulwich station - now removed - and to the "art house" near to Townley Road/Lordship Lane junction: the three-eyed man has been tagged and tagging has appeared on the house itself and on the board outside. I hope there is more art to come. Anyone have any inside knowledge?
  15. This is what TfL wrote: We are already looking at some issues on this corridor and would like to add your experiences to our evidence. We would then get back to you in due course with our thoughts and proposals.
  16. I don't think you'd need to have more buses, just use the ones we have differently, namely by designating a few of them as express. Perhaps for every five normal 176s, there could be an X176 which is express only to and from certain points. I'm not wedded to anything that makes it worse for the commuter, be it cyclist, pedestrian, driver or bus passenger, but I do think people with clipboards and logarithms might be able to help.
  17. I rarely have to take the bus in the rush hour at morning, given the shift work that I do, but when I do have to do a "normal" shift I wouldn't want to add an extra hour to my ten-hour shifts (and another on the way back) and neither would anyone else. I don't believe that regulating the buses more effectively in rush hours would mean a slowing down of the service: limited-stop buses could really help a sizeable portion of passengers. I'm a great believer in finding a way around things in a practical way (such as altering one's time of travel, walking to earlier stops) but it's not right that bus users should have to put up with excessive overcrowding.

  19. According to Uswitch I can save a pretty penny on my energy bills if I change from providers. What's the experience of using Uswitch (or similar companies)? Does anyone have feedback on first:utility (apart from critiquing the naff ":")?
  20. I've contacted (according to TfL) the right person to highlight the problem of overcrowding of the 176/185 from Dulwich Library (and therefore further down LL) in the morning. I got an encouragingly engaged reply, which asked me for further details, so I'll keep you posted.

    10 veg a day

Beetroot juice - cut with ten percent apple juice (all organic) - is surprisingly tasty and good for you. A bit of that, some yoghurt, a handful of spinach and a teaspoon of pure coocao powder is a really easy way of getting going in the morning. Three eggs, some milk, a small bunch of spring onions and a handful of mushrooms is a very simple but tasty getting two a day. Agree with gg that we are overfed and undernourished, and would add that fetishising and demonising certain foods/drinks is not healthy, in any way.
