  1. I agree the title and original post was speculative but the other posts offered extra sources, so I see no problems big enough to warrant a complete removal. I'm unimpressed with the criteria employed (this time) to remove a post.
  2. Why has the thread about the police activity/crime on Goodrich Road been removed? I've searched for it, but it's nowhere to be found.
  3. Good for the passengers of the 136! Hope there will be a similar extension to the 63/363 to HOP for the Ginger Line.
  4. Police activity up near the very top of Goodrich, over Dunstan's Road, on the odd-numbered side, very early today, Thursday. Officers said that there had been a crime.
  5. Props? Ah, so it's going to be a theatre! I can see the uplights! I can smell the greasepaint! Louisa, you're on in five....
  6. A rather lovely - but very dead - fox was in the road this morning around half-five just near to the Townley/LL junction. I was being driven in a cab, not driving myself, so could not do anything to move it.
  7. Tamed
  8. The contractors at the house just up the hill from Jenny Eclair's, who have removed the grafitti on their hoardings (and to the man on the corner of Friern/Goodrich Roads who paints over the nasty tagging his walls seem to attract). Wish I could say the same for all those folk with overhanging tree branches and bushes.....
  9. Re the petition - I very much doubt the council would agree to planting trees in the play park if the aim is to protect against pollution. A few trees or bushes wouldn't do that, and would hardly block out any noise - not that it's that noisy anyway. Better just ask for trees and plants purely because they look nice.
  10. There are two tree pits empty on Goodrich Road, opposite Summerhill Referral Unit. Any chance of getting them refilled with a nice, healhty tree? I'm happy to pursue if you can give me a shortcut to the right person. Thanks.
  11. I asked the woman in there what the shop was going to be and she said "retail, y'know, with coffee as well".
  12. There are stop/go boards due to roadworks near Goose Green which is causing lengthy tailbacks along LL.
  13. I'd like to help but want to know who's in charge, and under whose auspices any action would take place. Is it a council initiative? Does it work alongside the work fl0wer does? Even just picking up litter as you stroll around up there is a start.
  14. The fact that people are being adventurous by posting a positive comment about what ought to be a consistently acceptable, if not good, service is an indication of how bad this place has become. I avoid it as much as possible; when I do, the doctor has been good as have the nurses, but the rigmarole of getting to see them is woeful.
  15. How selfish of you who don't think a connection is needed. What about the poor sods who have to labour up and down Walworth Road on the often full-to-burst buses, for whom a faster connection into London would help them get to schools, colleges, places of work and cultural venues more conveniently. That Camberwell has no rail service - underground or overground - is unfair and for that reason alone I'd welcome a rail link of some kind for SE5 (and a Tube link for SE22/15 too).
  16. Pay DD for both fuels from the same provider and you will get a discount. Better still, go to uSwitch etc and compare the providers' prices. Turn off the internet, TV, DVD, charges overnight and fit draught proofing around doors and in the gaps of the floorboards. Keep the upstairs heated only a couple of hours or so before bedtime, keep the thermostat to about 19C and you'll see a difference.
  17. Japan does good things with bicycle parking, too:
  18. I think all eating and drinking ought to be banned on metropolitan public transport. I know it sounds draconian and broadbrush but you can't have a law saying "no chips, but crisps are ok; only sandwiches that don't contain fish; no burgers but wraps are fine". Noone *needs* to eat and slurp on a Tube train unless they are feeling hypoglycaemic, in which case they're likely well-equipped with sucrose tablets and/or medication.

    India visa

It's helpful, but my questions still stand.

    India visa

Has anyone recently applied for a tourist visa for India? If so, did you go and line up in person or get a visa company to do it for you? Thanks.
  21. People who say "diaper" instead of "nappy", "gotten" instead of "got", "cell phone" instead of "mobile" really get my goat, unless they're from North America.
  22. Tell them the boundaries before you leave them. I left some workies my keys whilst I went on holiday. They were there for about five days, all in all, and when I returned the work was done (decorating, plastering, rendering and removal of old render) and the house was as I left it. If they had taken tea or coffee they'd replaced it, as I did't notice any difference. (There was no milk in the fridge anyway.) Don't feel bad about confronting them. It's rude, unprofessional and disrespectful: they took a liberty and it left you feeling uncomfortable in your own home, which is hardly a good calling card to leave.
  23. Being discussed today, Friday, on Today at about 0820.
