  1. Is the stretch of LL outside the Sainsbury's Local ever checked at afternoon/evening rush hour for illegal parking? Now that the store is being refurbished there are no drivers who park up, do their shopping and clog up the road for every one else. Hope it stays like that once it re-opens, but doubt it because Southwark is curiously indifferent to illegal parkers here, unlike everywhere else.

  3. Just accept we all agree that its not good behaviour and turn a blind eye. <<< Welcome to Britain, that's how we do it here. Just keep ourselves to ourselves, whatevs....
  4. I'd love to see the state of the houses of some of these folk who think men pissing in public is OK. #grubby
  5. That mural was tagged at the weekend. Ingrid arranged for it to be painted over. This happened, but I think it needs another coat or two of paint. Incidentally, Southwark removes tagging on private property free of charge, for businesses as well as residential properties. Just ring 7525 2000, report it and they'll ask you to sign a form and then it'll be covered over.
  6. Ring 020 7525 2000 and report it - if it's council property. They can't do anything about it if they're not aware of it.
  7. Keep moving, lie on your side with a pillow between your legs, lose weight - if necessary, do Pilates often, go to Back 2 Basics for good treatment at Shad Thames. An ice pack is useful, but for no more than ten minutes or so. Alternate it with a warm pack. I had two burst - next to each other - about two months apart and was crippled. I really think about how I move, sit and sleep now.
  8. Russell Grant is very big....on this topic. He's very knowledgeable about it and other, traditional counties.
  9. you can leave your pram outside the restaurant while you are having sunday brunch without fear of it getting nicked. How many times has that happened in SE22, London, the UK? If you are the victim of a buggy-napper, please let me know.
  10. The new street signs have red paint that fades very quickly. Some of them - I suppose the ones that get a lot of sunlight - have faded to nothing. Too much to ask that the paint could've been checked for its hardiness?
  11. Tesco piggybacks O2 and you can collect points too!
  12. Tell us the criteria! You allow speculation on some topics, not others. I can understand that some posts need to be treated in ways that are different from certain others but I don't know how you decide that, or indeed whether you have a thought-out policy at all (as opposed to a case-by-case approach).

  14. Nice to be warned, but why not tell the people who can do something about it, if he is doing something unlawful? A quick call to the council takes about as much time as writing a post (and checking on its sucess or otherwise).
  15. I agree the title and original post was speculative but the other posts offered extra sources, so I see no problems big enough to warrant a complete removal. I'm unimpressed with the criteria employed (this time) to remove a post.
  16. Why has the thread about the police activity/crime on Goodrich Road been removed? I've searched for it, but it's nowhere to be found.
  17. Good for the passengers of the 136! Hope there will be a similar extension to the 63/363 to HOP for the Ginger Line.
  18. Police activity up near the very top of Goodrich, over Dunstan's Road, on the odd-numbered side, very early today, Thursday. Officers said that there had been a crime.
  19. Props? Ah, so it's going to be a theatre! I can see the uplights! I can smell the greasepaint! Louisa, you're on in five....
  20. A rather lovely - but very dead - fox was in the road this morning around half-five just near to the Townley/LL junction. I was being driven in a cab, not driving myself, so could not do anything to move it.

  22. The contractors at the house just up the hill from Jenny Eclair's, who have removed the grafitti on their hoardings (and to the man on the corner of Friern/Goodrich Roads who paints over the nasty tagging his walls seem to attract). Wish I could say the same for all those folk with overhanging tree branches and bushes.....
  23. Re the petition - I very much doubt the council would agree to planting trees in the play park if the aim is to protect against pollution. A few trees or bushes wouldn't do that, and would hardly block out any noise - not that it's that noisy anyway. Better just ask for trees and plants purely because they look nice.
