  1. Something similar was talked about a little while ago. You might find some of the links helpful in the thread: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,861651,861651#msg-861651
  2. Have you tried this guy? Advertised a summer ceilidh on the EDF. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?6,888285,893094#msg-893094

  5. Superstars. Bring. It. Back. E-petition required.
  6. AM,had a good friend with this and keeping to medication was key while also looking at other options. The meds as otta says were key. I always knew when he had skipped them.
  7. Bluebottles are no friend of mine. Let one in once, turned my back and there were thousands of them. This was before Facebook.
  8. Love it. Barry build up. Scotland the morra, wan mair peeve, then wee bit Turkey, scrap wi the brothers then back doon here! Happy Xmas.
  9. Piano Bars sound glam, used to go to Fingers after the Heb I mentioned earlier. Oh I miss Edinburgh! Glowing review! Went there on a night out and could not believe how overcrowded the place is, would definitely fail the health and safety regulations. The bar staff have severe attitude along with the bouncers and they favouritise female clientelle and treat guys like second class citizens. The seats are all ripped, the place is awash with spilt drinks and broken glasses and the toilet facilities are horrendous. I would suggest that everyone avoids this place and it should be shut down immediately and refurbished after all the amount they charge for their watered down alcohol, inside information, is atrocious, even their soft drinks and bottled water cost the earth. The place where everyone stand for a cigarette is a health hazard in itself as everyone is leaning against a single plate glassed window. I advise if you use the toilets to roll your trousers up or they should at least provide you with plastic covers for your shoes like you have to use to enter swimming pools now. I see someone else has commented that their are sugar daddies there well I would say they were old men drunk as skunks who would accept anything at the end of the night. My advice to all is campaign to get the place closed down
  10. As a man who can no longer even stomach the smell of whisky due to a half bottle of Bells at 16. I knew the independant owners of The Glenturret and that's supposed to be good. Long since sold, but had a cat in the Guiness book of records!
  11. In between the cheesemonger and fishmonger I'd like to see a rumourmonger.
  12. Trainspotting has some Barry choons on it.
  13. A review of The Hebridies or The Heb, which is one of my favourite boozers ever in Edinburgh had this short and concise entry: "The ceiling fell in on a customer last night and staff did nothing" Sorry, bit of topic and geography, but the thread got me reminiscing about pubs of old!
  14. Yep, The Kentish Drovers ( The Flying Tumbler!) think fits the bill. Met a pretty scary lad in there 2 summers ago. Good chat, but was glad to leave. woodrot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > actually, I dont wish to tar all w'spoons , but I > do find the Kentish Drovers in SE15 a grim > experience, even with OK beer and cheap > eats..Lively in the summer though, when the weed > garden is open and everyone is getting skanked.
  15. Murray, Hoy, Grainger. Scotland 1,2,3. Got to be! I'm hoping wee Tam from the curling club gets unsung hero award as well!
  16. I have seen my fair share of violence, Central Scotland is riddled with it, trust me! I worked for Connexions in Peckham and also have an understanding of what you describe. Your encounter in the woods however was with a couple of middle aged women, unlikely they were going to chib you! I'm not havin a dig at you, just there seemed to be a flippant attitude to giving the old girl a slap, lol, and if that jokey discourse was with a group of young people not sure it's a good message. Anyhoo, it's Xmas build up time so enjoy.
  17. I did think there was reference to casual violence in the OP, didn't sit well with me. Not acceptable the situation etc, but still, a man slap the woman, beat her with a stick etc. Youth worker as well, even as a parable, just feels uncomfortable to me.
  18. Loved today's build up...that is all.
  19. A good day to continue the "run in". LL should be bustling, pubs busy for a lunch time pint and mulled wine, trees getting carted home etc. From now onwards it's pretty much the best time for me. TV adverts getting Christmassy, work not so busy, Carol singers out and about. Wee bit snow next week, shaping up nicely. EP: all algorithmitical assistance gratefully accepted, Quids, my roof (terrace) is indeed a thing of wonder which took the labours of a miss spent to access!
  20. Out the traps in the great Xmas run in last Friday. Lots to look forward to till flight home on Xmas eve to meet for the traditional Xmas eve pint with the boys "that never leave" Xmas day is a bit respite and seeing the family for a couple of hours. Just feels like it's all over by 3pm on Xmas day... The build up for me is better. Then of course it's the big Hogmanay "run in". Tis the season of run ins. Another weekend of Xmas build up is amongst us....Lasers set tae Malky......CHARGE!

  22. Screen Test. Much better than The Culture Show.
  23. Top Banana by name, Top Banana by nature. Lovely act of kindness. Top stuff TB. And you Hilili. Seems to be some good things going on at the moment via the EDF. I'll do my bit for the local economy in the Xmas build up and purchase most of my Guiness and associated beverages on Lordship Lane. Barry! 24. I've been up all night wondering how a kidney bean could work.
  25. You would have had your tea then... Welcome, it's Barry round here.
