  1. Pey supper Sue, it's Pey! Washed doon wi fave pints o Hivvy!
  2. Sitting around an 8. Im up the road, at home. Left the pub early this morning and spent a good 20 mins standing on the Bridge throwing stones at a Heron that was taking all the new stocked trout from the River Allan. It never moved, bold as brass. On closer inspection, it turned out to be a Tesco bag caught up in a branch! So an 8 feels about right and I now have the prospect of a Easyjet flight to Stanstead to look forward to. GASH!
  3. Not found anywhere down here that stocks the delights of a Scottish chippie Gimme. I'm heading up the road tomorrow and on top of my to do list is a black pudding supper. Gimme Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Does he do a king rib supper with salt and sauce? > If not, any ideas where I could get one?
  4. Battered and deep fried a hamburger for me once. Not many chippies round these parts will do that. Lovely guy and lovely fresh chips.
  5. Whats the point, have you seen the prices
  6. If I wasnt going to be in Scotland MrBen, I'd join you fir a couple of pints. What could go wrong!
  7. Thanks RD. Just returned to base, hungover but happy. Missed the 1st race, but went for ed de Gas and Main Sequence in the 3 10 due to your tip. Main sequence came in. A good start. Went for lost in the moment in the 3 45 as I liked his colours. Nothing in that but misread the name of Bronze Prince as booze prince in the 4 20 so went with that. Romped home at 25/1. Brilliant and a brilliant day out. Not so busy you couldn't move and the sun shone. Barry!
  8. Heading down to Lingfield for the Derby trails, wee day oot. I like horses, but that's as far as it goes in my knowledge of the nags. Any of you experienced pundits got a hot tip for today? Thanks
  9. Easy peel satsumas - its all lies!
  10. Max71 Will be good to see you at the start. How many pennies will it cost?, well that pretty much depends on how warmed up you get before the off! Some of us get to the Plough at noonish, but thats not compulsory (or probably recommended), just a bit of tradtion really! Competitors sort thier own drinks at the start, but if you want your finish drinks at the clockhouse organised then we ask for ?10 to sort this. Any money left over goes to charity. You can arrange your own finish drinks if you wish, upto you really and then it wouldnt cost you the ?10 - just whatever you have arranged at the Olympic finish. If we want to get the BBRR 2012 started for 3pm , then those wishing us to arrange the finish "hurdle" really need to get their order and ?10 in by 2.30ish to enable the time it takes to do this. Last year for ease it was Guiness, Ale, Lager, Cider and a selection of shots as it would be a nightmare to arrange a whole host of weird and wonderful selections. Nearer the time a breakdown of the handicaps of choice from last will be provided from the historical record (1 metre long receipt!) Till then, Lasers set tae malky.....CHARGE!
  11. Dry the Rain. Beta Band. ETA: link to work.
  12. Only around Inside72, d_c. Perhaps time for this thread to sink a bit, still two months to go. Don't want to peak too soon!
  13. Have a bash at Prospects Planner - UK Graduate Careers site. Free. Dont obviously take what it says or comes out with as gospel but it may just give you some further areas to explore. http://ww2.prospects.ac.uk/cms/ShowPage/Home_page/What_jobs_would_suit_me___Prospects_Planner_/Login_to_My_Prospects2/p!ejgFgXm?mode=try_pp I used it and it came out with auctioneer. Never had myself down as a dab hand with a gavel.
  14. Past and venerable competitors will attest to the principles of the BBRR being all encompassing and open. All are welcome and the under 12's may drink a half pint if they desire. The race is as much about pre and post exertions as it is the actual running - which, trust me is harder than it sounds. All those on the day from the admin, to the "runners" and spectators have their own goals and challenges to overcome and enjoy. David_Carnell, our archivist, and 5 time runner is a valuable source of inspiration for the novice and first time runner. Its a pretty basic set of "rules" and as its quite a while till race day, which incidentally is always sunny, the thread will be updated in good time with a loose set of guidelines and a set of handy hints and tips (which basically means not overdoing it on the final set of circuits the night before!) It would be good to use new technology this year to sort the finishing line out - e-mail perhaps to let the Clockhouse know in batches of 20's what tae start pulling. Last years bar bill for the finish line was over ?450.00, so although it seems logical to pre order, we need the money on the day. If a few pre registered runners pull out, that poppy has to come from somewhere. Open to suggestions as how to make it run smoothly, as it is our aim to get going at 3pm. By that time surfbob is usually pretty much warmed up and good to go. We may have something lined up for a bit later in the evening for those interested (and capable), early days, but may involve a new cocktail (with some money from each purchase going in the MS pot). The Barry Barry Rum. All TBC. Till then, lasers set tae malky.....CHARGE!
  15. Aiming for the Gun to go of at 3pm. Previous races have been a bit late starting due to the logisitics of arranging 70 plus pints and nips down at the finish. Will update nearer the time of finer details, but "warm-ups" in Plough from noon aiming for as near as possible 3pm start.
  16. Great stuff am9374, you set the bar high last year and must be considered a contender for this years title. So we now have located the Barry Bear (5 years in a row he has returned). Now, just need confirmation that Barriet the ladies bear is safe and well and will be available to present to this years champion "athlete" Keeping up the punishing training schedule for this years event. See y'all at the starting line.
  17. White man at the palais - The Clash Loveshack -B52's Alright - Supergrass Have you ever seen the rain - credence Clearwater revival. That would get me on le dance floor.
  18. Jackie Wilson. Higher and higher. Total ear drugs!
  19. I realise this is a drop in the ocean in a 12 hour list, but I like to hear this at around 8.15pm at weddings. Also a good track to towel down to on a Saturday morning.

    The Shard

Saw them yesterday Ruffers as my office is on Bermondsey street. Stood and watched a while amazed at having that as a job. I get vertigo cleaning windows on a bungalow. Think they may have been removing the covering protecting the glass.
  21. ....Celia Hammonds details are here http://www.celiahammond.org/ ETA: *you never saw me right!*
  22. Please dont encourage him Bunny19. Plenty to occupy the minds of the endurance athlete during the warm up phase (from noon) if so desired. Everybody sets their own goals on the day so that could be your Barryimpic Test. This year I will not feel the need to Police the buses for those evading the run. Its an Olympic year and the true corinthian ethos of the BBRR will prevail. Im running it. Brace yersels! Back to the Barry Bears. Anybody seem em?......Barriet last seen with a lady footballer and Barry was carried of by Scooby Doo! Bunny19 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Surfbobby, as it's an Olympic year and unofficial > event, can't we up the anti and have 2 pints and 2 > shots each end, think of it as an even more modern > day pentathlon,
  23. Thank god for that. I have just upped my pre race schedule which was punishing enough as it was! Now........anybody seen the bears?
  24. 3:11 mins. Air punch from me. Lovely, and great tune as well.
  25. Tops that have a faux t-shirt stitched into them
