  1. You can keep your number whoever you move to, you just need a porting authorisation code (PAC).
  2. My daughter just said to me "mummy sick" I looked up to see she had had vomited (a small amount) on the sofa - not unwell, just eaten lunch and bouncing around!! Sooooo glad the sofa is leather!!!! It will be many years before I risk upholstered !
  3. Does anybody have one I could borrow? Or good (simple) ideas how to make a Peppa Pig cake? It's my daughters 2nd birthday in a couple of weeks and she is Peppa Pig infatuated!!
  4. My parents sing to the Christmas pudding for as long as its alight (can be some time with the brandy my dad adds to it). As a child I thought it was entirely normal and everyone did it. Apparently my mum thinks it's mad too but it's a family tradition from my dad's side! The most amusing part is that my partner (and his family) and my sisters partner all happily join in like it's a normal occurrence. We had Christmas with my in laws this year, mil asked if I wanted them to sing to the pudding;)
  5. I got an IPad2 for my birthday, before getting one thought they were good but an unnecessary luxury. Wouldn't be without it now!! It's great for reading books, surfing the net, playing games etc. Only down side is Apple not allowing adobe to be downloaded. I've not used the GPS on the ipad but have on my iPhone, works well on there so presume good on pad too.
  6. Its the unique criteria which is hard..... By no means unique but we bought our daughter a wooden kitchen, she loves it!! Easily the most played with toy over the last year! C
  7. Watching this with interest..... I asked the same question a couple of years ago in anticipation of my catholic Mil staying over Christmas. Received a very unhelpful and sarky response saying I should know already ?!?!? Fortunately there were lots of helpful non assuming (and non judgemental) posters who attend the church and were able to advise :)
  8. Hiya, The Vibe 2 does say Phil and Teds on the frame, think the Vibe one says Vibe. Other differences is there is a sun visor on main seat hood, the doubles kit has a hood and the front wheel is slightly different. Mine has red seat liners too, these are edged in black. The underside of the liners being black. Cx
  9. My daughter had a skin infection recently, sounds like the same stuff we were given, bright pink and tastes awful! I gave her a piece of chocolate afterwards. Amoxicillin far nicer :)
  10. Hiya, the pearl fits on the family fix base, to my knowledge you just leave it in the car though... Don't think it has adapters to fit onto buggies. Your welcome to try your adapters with my pearl seat, doesn't look like there is anywhere to fit adapters though.
  11. Nothing set on Christmas eve, smoked salmon and scrambled egg Christmas morning, boxing day is always cold meats (turkey and bacon joint) with bubble and squeak, pickles and chutneys. There is ALWAYS a large tube of smarties consumed! Out of interest @ how many presents does rather Christmas bring each child these days? My two have a sack each which is bulging!!! Not actually a huge number of presents, more bulky packaging.....
  12. Are my children the only one's to not sleep well in a Maclaren...... Grrrr
  13. I've got a quest and wouldn't recommend going for something less comfortable than that. Its a great car boot / bus buggy but neither of my two sleep well in it. Problem is the Maclaren that goes flat and is more comfortable (techno?) is loads bigger and heavier so not as good for car and bus. That said, we had a double techno as a holiday buggy and despite going flat didn't seem any more comfortable. Definitely don't go any lighter / flimsier than the quest.
  14. Metanium! Always gets rid of soreness really fast!
  15. Order another bin for yourself and wheel the old one to their place.
  16. The BCG is only given as standard in certain areas, London being pretty much it. As a result of the comprehensive BCG vaccination programme, TB was pretty much irradicated in this country. There has however been a significant increase of the disease due to immigration (from countries that do not have a BCG vaccination programme). It is true that you are only likely to catch the disease if you are in regular contact with high risk individuals. I originally decided not to have my daughter vaccinated as I knew we were low risk, however, I reconsidered. My reasons were that although currently she had no contact with anyone high risk, in the future, when she went to nursery/school etc she may well be in regular contact with another pupil / member of staff that was high risk. Its also handy to have been vaccinated in order to travel to certain countries, Australia being one I believe. Additionally the whole herd argument applies and ultimately the vaccination is not deemed at all risky or controversial. My daughter had the vaccination and doesnt even have a mark. My son has a small red mark, neither had any ill effect.
  17. I'm with you there! The recommended toothpaste is 1000 ppm btw. Don't remember having child toothpaste when I was small and my teeth all good :-)
  18. There are some great tool boxes for that age and Lego duplo good.
  19. If it helps any the dentist (young so presumably up to date with current teaching) recommended aqua fresh 0-3 I will look and see the strength and let you know. Thanks for all the comments everyone, certainly seems to be one of those areas where whatever you do could be wrong!!
  20. We have bought our 7mth old one of the multi story car park type garages, its a wooden one from ELC and looks great, very boyish! I've also got him some more masculine books, chunky jungle animals, and a train set. Does your son have a play buggy? All the boys seem to like them and they come in blue too :).
  21. New mother, ive no idea why my two are rarely ill. I'm very grateful though. I breast fed both of them pretty much exclusively until @ 6mths after which I continued to do so but to a lesser extent, using formula in addition to weaning. My attitude to breast feeding was very much if it works great, if not I won't do it. Both babies took to it very well and neither wanted to stop (still feeding the 7mth baby, 22 mth one would still bf if I let her). I was adamant I would not fall into the category of mums that feel awful for being unable to b/f. I've seen that happen to so many friends given the pressure that there seems to be to bf these days. It's as bad as the whole birth pressure! We do live in a house that is clean and I do wash mine and their hands often, that said we do have a dog so we are far from a sterile environment. We do go out a lot and mix with other children frequently and always have done. When my eldest started nursery I expected a barrage of illness as seems to be the norm, she has been there 9 months so far, never caught anything and never missed a day. She only goes twice a week, maybe that's why. I haven't read anything on this thread that implies everyone should opt for a csection or its a better birth experience. An emergency csection isn't something to be ashamed of or upset about. It is good fortune! Good fortune that we live in a time and country whereby we do have the benefit of a health service and skilled Dr's should we need them. The number of lives saved from this is not insignificant. The best birth experience is personal to each mother. For some it is an elective C Section, for others it's in their home. From my experience very few people have a birth that follows their birth plan (elective c section aside), that said, a csection is not a negative experience as seems to be being portrayed here by some posters, it also is not to the detriment of the baby and an easy option which is what some seem to be saying. The negativity is the feeling of failure some suffer which is not due to the procedure itself but insensitive comments and opinions of others. Rant over :-)
  22. Having had an emergency c section first time round, I opted for elective for number 2. New Mother is correct, the risk is pretty much entirely on the mother, risk to baby far less than VB. That said, an elective, although major surgery, is actually very safe and a basic procedure (Consultant obstetrician words not mine). I won't go into the details of my 2 sections, suffice to say, contrary to what is being implied here, my reasons were the benefit of my babies not me. I am fortunate in that I have two healthy babies who have had far less illnesses than their VB counterparts. Also contrary to what we are led to believe, recovery was fast (out of hospital the following day and healed far quicker than VB friends with tearing/episiotomy). Despite my positive C Section experiences, I wouldn't dream of judging anyone that chooses a home birth. Not a risk I personally was comfortable with but each to their own. This thread has made me really irritated by the claims that choosing a hospital birth / epidural is choosing to take risk and the inference that c section is somehow depriving your baby. Words escape me! Little Moos post was so unbelievably touching, my heartfelt sympathies to you and your family at your loss. I really can't imagine what you must have been through. I would also like to add that sillywoman was my NCT teacher and she is lovely! Not at all like the negative experiences detailed here. Sillywoman advised on all the different scenarios and totally supported the mums whatever their beliefs / choices.
  23. Just found this thread..... At my daughters 8mth check the Health visitor gave me a mini toothbrush and tube of normal Colgate. I questioned this at the time since we had until that point used baby toothpaste. I was told the current advice was to use adult toothpaste. From that point on we have done just that. First trip to the dentist the other day, dentist extremely firm and very definite that on no account should we use adult toothpaste for her. advised to use 0-3 toothpaste. I just googled this and it seems the risk is discoloration. This thread also popped up. Glad I've seen the thread as good to know I'm not the only one being advised two different things. Am thinking the dentist is the one whose advice should be followed but am now feeling paranoid about using adult toothpaste for the last 14 mths!! Does anyone know how high the risk is and why the health visitors are going against dental advice. I'm really annoyed, feel as though you can't trust any advice without researching yourself!! Will feel so bad if I've ruined her teeth. They look perfect at the moment, how long does it take before the discoloration occurs? Feeling very paranoid :( Anyone know the true risk/facts?
  24. I'm all for women having choice but a home birth is not everyone's want. I felt pressured to have a home birth at every antenatal appointment, given I actually wanted a C Section, I found the situation very stressful. Women should be provided with all information necessary for them to make an informed choice. They should not be pressured.
  25. I wasn't aware they had any Dr's ;-) I left that practice a couple of years ago now, doesn't sound like its improved at all. Do they still conduct telephone consultations on inappropriate medical areas at unknown times? I had a nurse call me at work at a non pre arranged time to discuss pregnancy related matters when I was only a few weeks pregnant (ie work didnt know). Upon receiving the call (open plan quiet office) I immediately said to give me a minute so I could find somewhere private to chat but clearly time was far more important than patient privacy..... Transpired she was the second nurse that couldn't answer the question and I was finally given an appointment which I later cancelled on account of changing to a surgery that did value patient care and confidentiality.
