  1. I joined a stop-smoking club at work which was how I finally managed to kick the habit. Recommend them. For various reasons it's probably only the fact that I have a kid now that stops me going back to it however. I've been known to weaken when out drinking with smokers. Always regret it the next day but it doesn't stop me the next time! Stupid.
  2. anyone got a virtual cig? I think I've got my old zippo somewhere..
  3. but still want one when I've had a drink. Is this forever?
  4. No idea! My 2.5yr old has been taking coins from my bedside table and putting them in her money box since she could walk. Daddy taught her to just take the pounds and 2 pound coins and leave the rest behind. She's rich!
  5. You're rather well connected aren't you. May I have 2828 please?
  6. Thumbs up for the charity push
  7. If holes are only around waist area it might be caused by your t shirt rubbing on youur jeans button whilst doing the washing up... That's what caused mine
  8. Did I win or not?? I asked for a number but you gave me a different number, then the one I asked for called out! Typical of my bloody luck
  9. Hey thanks, I had no idea. I might take my kid up a hill somewhere to get a good view - any suggestions?
  10. Snowboarder, I don't think you need to be worried yet. Mine just nattered to herself at 16m but in her own babble language. She had an appt at the time (and a few since) with a paedeatric doc at St Toms (about something unrelated) but I mentioned her lack of language and he wasn't concerned - he actually said "well she seems to know what she's saying". Having said that, she is going for some hearing tests soon but now that everything is finally coming together with her speech, I'm thinking that her hearing is fine and she was just a bit slow on the uptake (as were 2 of her cousins who apparently didn't say much till they were 3 and are perfectly fine and are now 17 and 12).
  11. 10th @ Mag is good for me
  12. lol apen, I was wondering what your job was!
  13. Mine was only saying mummy and daddy at 2 although it was clear she understood everything. She had about 30 words and absolutely no sentences until about 6 weeks ago but just in the last 2 weeks it's all starting to come together and we're seeing rapid improvement every day - she's 2 and a half. Interesting about the "walk at 1 talk at 2" thing - I hadn't heard that but it seems to fit as mine didn't walk until she was 16 months.
  14. Not letting them fall asleep after a feed - this was the best advice I was given but a few people on here have suggested that it's actually difficult to do. I didn't find it too much of a problem though - of course she fell asleep feeding sometimes, but I just used to change her nappy before her nap so that she woke up, even for a small amount of time. Then she was awake but perhaps still drowsy when she went for her nap. It's so lovely for them to fall asleep on you like that and this way, you have the best of both worlds. The purpose is for them to learn that they can go to sleep on their own. If they learn this during daytime naps, it naturally follows during the night. Just to note, this is only important with daytime naps. At night-time I put her in the cot awake or asleep, I didn't try to wake her if she had already fallen asleep. However, the best advice is to trust your instincts, as others have already said. Good luck.
  15. I'd like to finally make one of these - 3rd and 10th Sept is good for me.
  16. Hotel California - Eagles
  17. Oh that's okay, I don't often get time to come in The Lounge so happy to mooch around for a bit.
  18. Are you accepting new punters? I've never won a damn thing in my life but quite fancy my chances here. Can I have 1305 please?
  19. How stressful for you both. I'd go back to nappies - as you say, you don't want to cause anxiety which would be even harder to get over. You've got to ask yourself, what's the rush? Well, that's what I've been asking myself the last few days anyway! She's obviously aware, why don't you wait until she asks again. Let her take the lead. Good luck
  20. Hi GinaG3 - it's a PC application. The iPhone apps are on the other thread.
  21. Has anyone found an app that locks the screen so that when they are watching a video, little fingers all over the screen (or the button at the bottom) don't stop it?
  22. Wow, lucky you! (apart from the carpets - what a nightmare!) That just reinforces my belief that we started too early. You use real nappies don't you Pickle - I'm convinced they give you a head start as they've always been able to feel the wet. We used them last year but as my CM didn't want to and they too so long to dry, we soon lapsed back to Pampers (oh the shame), but I am using them again now when we need to go out. I was a bit disappointed and surprised with the response from the nursery, I thought they would be geared up for it too and actually thought it would be ideal for her to be going there next week. Which it probably would have been, had she been a bit more ready...
  23. I called them and got told to bring your own potty if she won't sit on a kiddy size toilet as they don't have potties. I have no idea if she'll sit on a small toilet or not. They don't seem to have any guidelines for me - they just said they would do what I wanted. Oh. Much dilema. I hope the decision is abundantly clear by Sunday. Actually, she hasn't had ANY stars on her Star Chart for 2 days however so I think that might answer the question :-S
  24. The iPhone toddler app thread reminded me of this app that we use on our PC. The no bells and whilstles version is free and it lets your kid bash your keyboard and click your mouse to their hearts content, to hear laughter or letters and numbers (american accent unfortunately) http://www.hanselman.com/babysmash/
  25. It's her mouth isn't it, there's something very wrong about the way she leers, err I mean smiles. And that song "I'm going outside and I'm going to get grubby" - I've sung it a few times when I've been off out to the garden to tend my veg and suddenly felt like I was in a porn film. Hope the neighbours haven't heard. It's a shame because it would be a good programme if it wasn't for Little Miss Porn Star.
