  1. She's actually at a nursery near my work next week and I'm sure they would ordinarily, but if she's still weeing everywhere but the potty by Monday, I doubt they will. It's a very good nursery and she has been there before so it's familiar to her. I'll have to give them a ring tomorrow and find out what the score is. Good point actually - does anyone know how nurseries go about it? I can't imagine they can allow toddlers weeing and pooing all over the place but I think that they do get very involved with PT?
  2. Whilst she poos in the potty (probably only because it's easy for me to pre empt it) she's only wee'd in potty about 5 times in 6 days! It's just not an option to go without nappy out of the house yet. It seems that I was ready but she wasn't. Still a few days left to keep at it, maybe it will click, fingers (and legs) crossed!
  3. Congratulations! You must be thrilled to bits :o)
  4. Thanks Millsa, I'm hearing you! Day 6 now and she's clearly not "ready" although this has been a good exercise for both of us. She's learning a lot from it so whilst there's no way we could leave the house without a nappy yet, it's definitely been worthwhile. I think my expectations were too high. Darn GF and her potty training in 7 days book!
  5. If you haven't already, you could show her the poo in her nappy before flushing it down the loo "bye bye poo poo". I was doing this with my daughter for a while before we started PT (4 days ago) and she's absolutely fine about the poo, but won't wee in the potty (swings and roundabouts huh!) Good luck x
  6. Day 4 and I'm more relaxed than I was (helps that it's sunny today and we can be outside). Still failing to wee in the potty but every poo has made it. She seems to want to wee standing up rather than sitting down. Not sure how to crack that one.
  7. She pooed in the potty woohoo!
  8. I'd like to but she hasn't made the potty once today so can't really be having her weeing all over the place when they are here. Will keep going until they arrive then put a nappy on her whilst we're out for a pub lunch. Not ideal but might be good workaround if we're out of the house. I'm still waiting to see what she does when she wants a poo... Gawd, I'm exhausted
  9. She hasn't made the potty once today yet! I am now convinced she knows when its coming though as she will always do it about 30 seconds after getting off the damn thing. In fact, whilst I was typing this she shouted "mummy!" then proceded to wee right next to a potty. I've tried bribing her with Cbeebees if she does the next wee in the potty but clearing it didn't work. Thanks for your encouragement, I'll keep going.. Unexpectedly now got some visitors over tomorrow afternoon, really didn't want to revert to nappies for it but looking like I might have to.
  10. "Learning to let go and pee on demand is the biggest thing" I didn't think of it that way - will put on my happy face and start this afternoon with a different focus. Thanks to both of you for your replies - it helps a lot :o)
  11. Is weeing every 15 to 30 mins normal? I find it strange that she was every 2 hrs yesterday and today it's little and often.
  12. I've been asking her to sit on it fairly regularly and she's happy to sit whilst we read a book or even on her own for 10+ mins. I'm worried if I ask her too much, she'll start resisting however. I know that she knows that the wee should go in the potty, I'm just not sure if she can predict when she needs to go. We've got a star chart which she likes. I know I'm being impatient but if we don't crack it this week, I won't get another chance until Christmas which isn't an ideal time.
  13. My nearly 2.5yr old girl has been ticking all the boxes for a while and as my CM is taking a week off, I thought this would be an ideal time to ditch the nappies. We've been doing the pre-potty build up for a month and all has gone well. I know it's only day 2 but I'm already wondering if I should give up so need some words of wisdom from those that have already done it please. Yesterday, we got 2 wees out of 7 in the potty. The first was possibly a lucky coincidence but the 2nd I'm pretty sure she sat on the potty cos she knew she needed to wee. Result! She was about 2 hrs between wees which I was quite surprised at, but also pleased as I thought it showed good bladder control. She produced a LOT of wee each time. Today however (and I know it's not even midday) she's having small wees every 15-30 mins and none have made the potty. She's even got up from the potty about 30 seconds before weeing on the floor a few times. Do you think I've started too soon?
  14. Thanks Pickle, that gives me some hope! Incidently, I'm thinking that I might go stir crazy cooped up at home, scared to venture very far when we start in a couple of weeks time, so if anyone wants to join forces, or has a kid who can show mine how to use a potty and show off her big girl pants (she's never seen anyone use one), I'd love to hear from you! Nappies off Friday 6th August!
  15. How realistic is the "potty training in one week" approach? My childminder is going on hols in a couple of weeks so I'm planning to go for it big guns! I'll have 10 days to nail it before I will have to take her with me to and from work for a week (45 min bus/train journey) and I'm dreading being caught short on the journey... I'm pretty sure she's ready and we've been doing all the preparatory stuff for a while now. I really want to get it right as otherwise we'll have to wait till Christmas as I can't take anymore time off before then. Which begs the question, how/when do other working mothers manage to squeeze it into their schedules at the appropriate time??
  16. I wish I'd known that Saffron. Mine had hers at 9 months and at 2 and a half it's a lot better than it used to be but I think she might have a permanent scar from it. It's not so much the mark but the indent that's left. Most people ask what it is when the see it so it must be pretty prominent.
  17. I've been thinking the same thing when I see these little babies on the bus, crying and crying, and they are wrapped up in baby grows, socks etc. in this heat! Why do mums want to keep their babies so warm? It takes all my strength not to tell the mother that their baby is probably crying because it's overheating, but know it wouldn't be appreciated so I keep mouth shut.
  18. A normal potty wouldn't fit under my pushchair! Gubodge, I have no such qualms and will pm you - thanks!
  19. I'm building up for the big PT in a few weeks time. Gawd help me if she starts kicking it around like LB's boy! Now these look like they would be very useful http://www.biz-e-kids.co.uk/nappies_changing_toilet_training/out_about/potette_travel_potty but are they? Good investment or waste of money?
  20. Love them, Ziggywigs! Thanks for sharing
  21. Great ideas - thanks! Chicken drumsticks went down a treat. Did the pasta, peas, pesto thingie tonight and she nearly threw it off the table! Whizzed it up in the chopper thingie and added a couple of chopped tomatoes, "yummy yummy" she said. kids huh
  22. I've put my daughters name down for a nursery place at Heber and Goodwich today as they are my nearest schools. Both recommended applying at many schools however as places were so limited. I'm a bit stuck now as my CM (who would be doing the drop off and pick up), lives at the Goose Green end of ED so applying for any of the other schools near me would be no good for her. Goodwich is pushing it. Being that distance is important to the schools decision (after siblings and special needs) is there any point me applying at St Johns and Goose Green considering their distance from me?
  23. A week on and I'm bored with it now! Still love the colours but the obscure subject matter is annoying me more and more each time I see it.
  24. This is it. I wonder if the owners knew about it.
  25. I'll take one tomorrow and post it. I noticed today there's a signature in the bottom right hand corner with a web address. Sadly I'd forgotten it by the time I walked 2 mins to my house. Age is creeping up on me
