Questions regarding nursery place at local school
damzel replied to busymum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Oh! I looked at the Southwark site and it was devoid of any useful info regarding applying for nursery places. Will get on the phone tomorrow! -
Inspiration needed for toddler meals!

So you did, thanks Fuschia. Edanna - if there's one thing my little one won't eat, it's salmon! Smoked is fine but fresh or tinned just doesn't cut it. -
Questions regarding nursery place at local school

I hope you don't mind if I dip in quickly with a related question - do you have to put your name down at your prefered school for these government paid places? My daughter will be 3 next Feb and my CM has suggested that I should be ringing around. -
I'm so bored cooking the same things on a work-day I need some inspiration! I don't have very long in the evenings to prepare so it's really the quick and easy dishes that I'm struggling with. Weekends are fine (although I'm not one to prepare meals for the week at the weekend). I remember a thread last year (I think) that loads of you had posted toddler meal ideas but I've searched and just can't find it. If anyone submitted something, perhaps you can find it in your history?

I like it, makes my kid giggle on the way home. Better than a big blank white wall although I can't quite work out why they decided on 2 monsters with a girl skipping in the middle, does seem a bit odd!

Mine is in just a body suit - long arms, no legs. No sleeping bag or blanket. I'll cover her up when we go to bed later as it will have cooled down by then. Edited to add - don't feel guilty! In my experience, they bother about things a lot less than we expect them too. I'm sure she's not too uncomfortable

Not sure if the rules have changed but I built a roof terrace on the top of the flat roof of the downstairs flat when I lived in Wandsworth. It didn't need planning permission because it was a wooden structure and therefore deemed removable, or not permanent.

They are cute but I've left it a little late for shopping around (as usual). Need to get something today or tomorrow so choice is a bit limited.

I think you've confirmed my suspicions Pickle, thanks. I'll get her a little wheelie bag instead - cheaper too probably. I hope your house is finished soon, we had builders in our house a couple of years ago when we went away for a month and when we got back, they hadn't done any of the major messy work as they had a question and didn't want to call us on holiday! I trust you had more luck with yours!

Has anyone tried Trunki cases for kids? We've got a couple of big trips this year with a 2 year old who just loves bags and would love to pull or ride on the Trunki. But how practical is it? Does it fall over if you pull it too fast (without the weight of a kid)? Is it acceptable as carry on luggage on long-haul? Be so handy for her toys and nappies on a long flight http://www.trunki.co.uk/

We're doing Glastonbury this year but leaving kiddie with my mum. Green Man is great for kids - we went last year with our 18m old and are going again this year. Might check out Latitude too after all these recommendations.. hmmm

My toddler keeps escaping her sleeping bag so I'm thinking it might be time to make the transition to pillow and duvet. I'm wondering whether those cot duvet's that are zipped together with the sheet (and pillow?) are a good idea or just a waste of money? She moves around a lot in her sleep so I'm in no hurry to move her to the big bed.

Suggestions for getting a toddler to eat vegetables?
damzel replied to bee74's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I was told to up my daughters iron intake recently and she totally surprised me by wolfing down spinach and potato, mixed up a bit like a sag aloo but without the spices. The frozen spinach is particularly easy to work with and hide in food too - I put it in quiche and roll it up with tomato paste and cheese in puff pastry to make cheesy puffs. -

They included West Dulwich separately under SE27 -
Yes it works fine but I keep looking at the those little buttons at the bottom thinking how perfect they would be for the different forum content thingies

Don't suppose there's an iPhone app for EDF on it's way is there?

It was a double page spread in today's Evening Standard. I found some older "Spotlights on..." here http://es.homesandproperty.co.uk/property_news/hot_areas/hotareas.html so maybe it will be on there at some stage. -

I suppose, but it was the *average* sales price. The average cost of a 3 and 4 bed house was listed as only slightly more in SE21 too. I'm surprised as I thought Dulwich was a lot more expensive than ED. Nice to see familiar places in the pictures - I'm sure me and my sister is in the picture of the cafe! -
Page 28/29 of today's edition. I'm wondering why the average sale prices of one bed and two bed flats are listed as more expensive in SE22 than SE21. Seems odd?

I had OC too but not as severely as Pickle and Largeginandtonic did. Yes, some days were better than others and my hands and feet only itched in the later stages, mainly it was legs and belly with me. It took them ages to diagnose me as apparently there was only one testing place for this in England (Birmingham) and there was a bit of a backlog (and they lost my first sample). So get tested as soon as you can. If you have got it then they will want you to have the baby at 38 weeks at the latest as it's after this time that the condition can effect the baby. As soon as you have the baby the itching stops - it's really weird! Good luck with everything

Thanks for asking ITATM, she was finally back to normal only yesterday - she had 4 whole days without food and very little water and then another 24hrs before she could stomach her milk so all in all, 5 full days from beginning to end! It took me back to night feeds again as she was waking every few hours for sips of water. Last night we finally had a full nights sleep - bliss! I'm wondering if it's a different virus to Pickle and family though as neither myself or my partner has got it (yet..) Get well soon guys!

On the other hand it > looks incredibly light and easy.... hmmmm I don't think any amount of determination would get them out as there are no zips on the inside. As for playpen - for short spells it would still work. It looks dark looking from outside in, but if you stick your head in, it's quite light looking out (I know, I tried!) My daughter loves it in there but then she is one for climbing in cupboards and other small spaces.... (sometimes I'm worried I'll find her squashed in the washing machine!)

We use this one now (wish we had from the start) http://www.thatcuteage.com/p1347-Sun-Essentials-UV-Travel-Centre--Cot. It isn't cheap but very portable and she hasn't outgrown it yet (and she's quite tall) so it would have been good value for money if we had got one straightaway. upto 4yrs old apparently editing to post corect link.

advice from parents whose babies sleep well......
damzel replied to paps's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I agree with Carrie (nearly), try not to let them fall asleep immediately after a feed BUT only during the day. You only have to change their nappy or blow on their face, anything so that they are awake between feeds and their daytime naps and the don't have to be awake for very long after the feed, even a few minutes would ensure the connection isn't made. That was the only advice I was given and I stuck by it and mine has never had a problem going to sleep, sleeping through from 10 weeks I think. During the night, don't speak/play/turn the lights on. Change the environment as little as possible and if they fall asleep then it shouldn't be a problem as you will be dropping those feeds anyway. Good luck
