  1. Sorry to ressurect this thread but my nearly 2 year old has been vomiting for nearly 72hrs now and hasn't kept anything down at all. She's been able to keep water (with rehydration powders) down in very small doses since yesterday but if given more than a quarter of a cup, she'll throw it up too. She's got as much energy as a rag doll and all she can do is watch CBeebies all day inbetween lots of sleep. No fever though. We saw the doc late on Friday afternoon and he said that it was the vomiting bug. If it got any worse to call them again. Well it hasn't got worse but certainly hasn't improved yet. How long does it go on for? 72hrs seems an awfully long time for a toddler to still be throwing up, especially water.
  2. Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on these. My daughter stays fairly close by but sometimes in public places she refuses to hold my hand so I end up not able to take my eyes off her and therefore can't concentrate on anything else. I think the backpack with the lead is a great idea but wonder if having to wear the backpack is actually inconvenient and a bit of a chore. The wrist link seems the simple option but I haven't seen anyone around using them so wonder if kids just don't like them? I'm thinking airports, shopping centres etc. Does anyone have any experience with them?
  3. Just to say, sometimes you don't have the choice! I wanted to do it but it quickly became apparent that my daughter would have starved if I had gone down that route. She loved mush and she loved me to feed it to her! Happy to say that she's feeding herself these days (although for a time there I wondered if she ever would!)
  4. We are definitely heading up there and will probably arrive about 8:15ish. I've taken a note of your number so if there are any unforeseen changes, I'll let you know. I've no idea what the Lodge is like so if it's rubbish (or full of Valentine's) then we'll probably go downstairs to the EDT. By rubbish, I mean empty or ridiculously packed :o)
  5. Hello Millsa, me and Blainiac are planning to head to the Lodge later. I can confirm later if you still fancy it?
  6. We use this one now (wish we had from the start) http://www.thatcuteage.com/p1347-Sun-Essentials-UV-Travel-Centre--Cot. It isn't cheap but very portable and she hasn't outgrown it yet (and she's quite tall) so it would have been good value for money if we had got one straightaway. Just noticied it's for 6 months to 4 years so perhaps your little one isn't quite ready for it yet. Worth bearing in mind if perhaps you go for a temporary solution first however.
  7. Hoorah! Successful teeth cleaning session tonight! Thanks Molly, that lying down thing worked a treat - she didn't object at all
  8. Wow, clearly I've missed a trick here (damn I'm not perfect afterall). Time to get serious with the teeth cleaning then. Molly - thanks for the lying down tip, I can see how that might work.
  9. Pickle - I didn't know what a "red book" was until mine was 5wks old as she had somehow slipped through the system. I'm never too sure how seriously we should take cleaning teeth at just under 2. We clean our teeth together at every bathtime but she's obviously not very good at it - bit of a game really. She won't let ME put the toothbrush in her mouth, it's a complete battle so I figured as long as she's getting used to the idea of doing it herself, it shouldn't be too much of a problem at this early stage. Am I wrong? And if so, how do you clean your toddlers teeth? And at what age should they start going to the dentist?
  10. Hello Chantelle - There's a few of us going to this today at 10:30 (when you can bring your little one) http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,394987.
  11. Oh dear, where have I been, I didn't realise it would cause a problem as long as they stopped before their proper teeth came. I sucked my thumb up to at least 10 and it didn't cause any probs. My daughter is nearly 2 and she finds it such a comfort. When's it advisable for them to stop by? What type of problems can it cause?
  12. Can someone call someone and tell them that all the lights are stuck on red. It's mayhem up here! I can't find contact easily on phone Edited to add - now I'm home I've notified the police who apparently are going to pop down and have a look. Hope they hurry, last thing I saw was 2 kids trying to direct the traffic!
  13. Good point Sean! I'm sure they do it all in a week because they often talk about how knackered they are. Maybe AcedOut is pulling our legs...? Would love to know when it's on though because I would hate to miss it.
  14. 9 to 5, I don't think so. There's never been anybody there when I pass just after 4pm. Seems strange no ones seen any workmen but holes keep appearing, perhaps they work through the night? Stinks of gas though - how dangerous is it exactly?
  15. Actually the electician just moved in with the chaps in the cornershop opposite. And the Chinese medicine shop - well, they left an acupuncture needle in my boyfriend which he found an hour after coming home! I live just round the corner from the Sainsbos and although I hated the idea, I'm not unduly unhappy about it now. It hasn't caused a problem with parking which was my main issue and I find I'm actually using the other shops there more than I did before and no more shopping at horrible Somerfields. The range isn't great but it's good for fresh fruit, veg and bread which is what I find lacking in the other shops.
  16. I actually got off the bus at the end of Barry Road and walked 2 bus stops - managed to beat the bus I was on by 6 buses! Still missed my train though. I'll go to ED station instead next week.
  17. Why don't the lights allow traffic to flow in both directions at the same time? I mean both north and south OR east and west, not altogether you understand..
  18. Does anyone know when the temporary traffic lights at the East Dulwich Road/Peckham Rye junction will be gone? Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, I searched but couldn't find anything. Need to know if I have to find an alternative route to work next week. Traffic was a nightmare before Christmas.
  19. It was a good effort and Santa played his part well, although he walked so fast lots of the little people couldn't keep up! Was good fun though and our little ladybird enjoyed herself. Thanks for organising it Monica (tu)
  20. Can you pencil me in? I have a busy day at a childrens party so might be a bit too wiped out to make it (or more likely, gasping for a drink!)
  21. I've recently found this great muffin recipe for using up old bananas. It's really easy and they're mmmm delicious. http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/36/delicious-banana-muffins.aspx I'm always a bit confused about the bi-carb/baking powder thing so replaced the plain flour for self-raising, added some baking powder and ignored the bi-carb. Worth adding vanilla essence and/or cinnamon if you have any to hand.
  22. I would love to come and meet some other ED mums. Has a date/venue been decided on?
  23. My thoughts exactly, Pickle. I have one of them and I'm not unduly concerned about it although I'll take more care now to ensure that my little one isn't too close when it's folding, so glad that it's been highlighted
  24. Will there be a car park at the back? Not happy about Sainsburys Local at all and if it effects parking down my street too grrrrr
  25. Oh my, what a terrible experience you had! Enjoy your baby HH, he's beautiful. You will forget the nightmare eventually.
