Just in case > that wasn't clear either numbers. it was clear Mick Mac, I knew you were joking. Am sorry for my rather grumpy and unnecessary post on this otherwise funny thread! four pounds is the funniest thing I've read on here for ages. love it.
  2. sorry *bob* hadn't properly read the thread, didn't realise your post linked to the 'b&b'. have seen some hilarious responses to obviously fake/whining/putting boot in type reviews on TA from management. Sad they have to take time to deal with it but guess thats price you pay for publicity these days, good or bad.

I wish people would leave it alone.
  4. Yes, SJ, the same one. (And he made it very clear about the fact that the Guardian article should have said that fracking needs more research and proper regulations, and was not a warning against it).
  5. I really hate the term 'yummy mummies'. It is as offensive as 'chavs' in my opinion. Sorry, just read this thread as two of my good friends live in Sydenham, one in Lower Sydenham where she say the only thing is there's not as many nice coffee shops to choose from as ED but other than that, its fine.
  6. malumbu - you're right in that politicians took an anti-nuclear stance but this is because nuclear usually = no votes. So you're not going to go for the unpopular option in politics if you want to get elected. I don't think Thatcher was pro-nuclear simply because she 'hated the miners' though, she was a scientist and there were plenty of influential scientists in government with a great understanding the technology, e.g. for one, Sir David King, former Govt Chief Scientist was/is pro-nuclear.
  7. keefe - excellent posts and many things I agree with what you say but there's a world of difference between say, PE and News of the Screws? No?

  9. I love the one by the library, completely forgotten its name at the moment. sells great coffee and lovely little portugese (sp?) custard tarts. Gastonomica or something like that? Used to always find a nice space there and never found it too manic.

  11. I agree with ian hislop, this is madness. this means that any story about eg PE publishes story on a corrupt politician, politician sues and PE have to pay their costs. if the story about corrupt politician WAS a lie, then thats libel and you'll get stung for it. you don't get stung for being right. I blame milibean for pushing this and ineffectual cameron railroaded into it because he didn't want to be seen siding with murdoch. actually to be fair, he's such a twat anyway he may have gone for it anyway.
  12. Thanks!! (Best compliment I've had all week) keep 'em coming folks...
  13. Silly me. I should've guessed. Let me see now, tomorrow...is it Wensleydale & waffles?
  14. Tuna & tomato today is it *Bob*?
  15. there was definitely a thread (or two) on here about dental implants previously which might have some good information about local vs going abroad. I would echo what flower says above and go with a surgeon personally recommended by your dentist (providing you have faith in your dentist and they're good). The dental implant is moulded and fitted etc by the dentist but the work to prepare the jaw and check whether you have enough bone etc for the implant is done by the surgeon. Your dentist will be best placed to advise on whether an implant is needed or not. Am sure they will be as keen to save the tooth as you will if that is an option. If you choose to go abroad for the work, be prepared to return there if you needed to have any follow-up work as some surgeons are reluctant to work on (or correct) surgery done by others/other organisations.
  16. I know so many blokes doing this now, one who is already quite slim so not sure he should even be on a diet. Worrying. Drinks & kebab next month quids?
  17. It was the sound of the Waitrose New Store Location Decision-making Machine grinding to a halt.

Would I sound too much like 'Mr Logic' (he's an acute localised bodily smart in the rectal area), if I said that there's NO such thing as a granite SEAM?!!! edited to add brackets (like anyone should care)!

as much use as a check for mining subsidence. The buyer's solicitor's clearly going through a stupid check-list without thinking about it. With Lower London tertiary and clays, there's no need for this as said above, unlike areas with granites or kimmeridge clay where there is erosion of radioactive material).

How was your retro corned beef hash? Is that paste the sludgy looking pink/grey stuff in tiny glass jars? vik - I don't remember sugar sandwiches but that's reminded me of a recipe book (I use the term loosely) I had from the 70s (think it was a kids one), that involved buttering sliced white bread, spooning loads of soft brown sugar on top and grilling till it caramelised!

Vik - that is so funny about the ripped sunblest bread & paste sandwiches but you must have been posh to use proper anchor butter!! :)

jeez maxxi were you at the same school as me? (this thread is an eye-opener!) btw, I was all for a spam fritter revival... until I read Jeremy's comments about the rubberiness (ugh). Reminds me of squid and fritto misto. Totally put off now.
