  1. You can either go in to London Bridge on southern and take the jubilee line (but note strike action at mo) or overground to Canada Water and change to go one stop on jubilee.
  2. I agree. Men are often unfairly discriminated against in this day and age. Look at that Diane Abbot thread. The way some people posting on there were set upon just for enquiring about someone's health...that's real persecution. Save the Males!
  3. That isn't touchy - it's a fair question, and I'd be interested to know the answer.
  4. Thank you to the French house for three great years! I don't eat out often - but you are always top of the list when we do. We wish you every success for the future.
  5. We did otford the other weekend and loved it - thank you for a very informative blog.
  6. Hi James - do you have an update on this please? Edited for spelling
  7. I've had problems with meat from here in the past and will not buy it from here again - some chicken (within date) which when home & opened smelled horribly of urea - a sharp, stinging smell which made the whole kitchen smell. I'm not quite sure where the problem with preserving fresh food would lie (it may not necessarily be the store itself)... but a few months ago went back to do a quick shop (have been wary of the meat/fish ever since...). Checking out the yogurt I found several that were still on sale despite having gone past their sell by date. When I got to the cashier I was told that staff were making their way round to reduce the items and would pick the food which had exceeded use by date in due course.... I said that wasn't the point - food should not be sold PST the date on the label... the cashier didn't seem bothered. I've come to the conclusion that there is poor management and food hygiene at the store and I tend to avoid wherever possible. As DF pointed out, M&S is close, and so much nicer for only a small increase in price, and I know what I buy will be fresh. It can be hard to find certain brands, in which case I'll pop up to Organic Village, which has a great selection of fruit and veg as well as lots of interesting "store cupboard" options.

  10. Hi James - the only thing that "fixed" this issue last year was the end of summer! This is still an issue at the gym. Can you confirm what was action was taken a year ago which was supposed to remedy this? I'm unsure whether there are any regulations which govern the temperatures that public gyms should be kept at for safe cardio workouts but would be interested to know whether everyone active are required to keep the gym at a specific temperature. I've complained about this before and frequently have asked staff to turn the AC on in the morning when it is hot. However I'm not sure what can be done to ensure this gets addressed? I had hoped for a change after Fusion but it seems that was a little too much to expect.
  11. It sounds like there are some specific factors which have meant that Babbelina's case is not straightforward and it's good of Dulwich Cars to show both sides of the story. However for me the question (in general terms, and accepting that Babbelina's experience will not be everyone's experience) regarding airport pickup times would be - why should you have to ask? If you've asked for an airport pickup and you've given a flight arrival time and number, surely it is painfully obvious that the minute the plane touches down is not the minute you will be outside ready to get into the cab?!? When booking with companies like Addison Lee etc it isn't their policy to arrive for touchdown. I've always had a call to say they have arrived when I am in the baggage hall or queuing to clear immigration. karen s Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi. > I have used Dulwich for a good few years now, > including airport pick ups. 12. James, I'm quite interested in how I could make my phone valueless once stolen? It seems from your comment that it is something that's relatively easy to do. I've had my phone nicked on more than one occasion- I use a password on all my devices (different from each one) and I have a note of the IMEI numbers. I had thought that once the phone was stolen thieves turned it off, cloned a new imei and sold it on at a phone shop - so even though it didn't hold my data any more, it would still hold a value for the thief? Thanks James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi DulwichLondner, > It is immensely frustrating. 13. I can confirm that we've also been told the same - a number of years ago our family dog was hurt incredibly badly by a bull-terrier type dog. The owner couldn't control it and eventually we had to prise the dogs' teeth off our dogs underside. The owner left and we wrote down the number plate of the car & reported to the police. We weren't concerned about payment for surgery etc but actually very worried about the fact the dog was vicious (the attack was so much more than a "warning snap" or play for dominance), the owner clearly could not control it or call it off, nor showed any inclination to stop the animal, and who the dog could harm next. The police told us that they could do nothing unless the dog had attacked a person. Lbsmith- I am so sorry to hear about the attack. I hope your dog is recovering as best it can (no doubt it will impact her future interactions with other dogs) and your au pair & family are not too badly shaken. 14. Babbelina, I agree with you too - if I've told a cab firm when my flight was landing and asked them to pick me up, I wouldn't expect the car to call me as my flight landed to say they were waiting: I would expect that had more to do with management than the driver themselves though. For any cab company offering "airport pickup" I'd expect they would know that the time your flight arrives is not when you will be able to be picked up from. This being said it does depend on the details left on the booking form - if the booking form requested "pick up time" and you asked for the cab at 15.40, then yes - it is right that there was an additional ?10 cost. If however, you specified that you wanted to be picked up as a result of a flight which would arrive at 15.40, then as an earlier poster pointed out, it belies their lack of experience that they would arrive at the airport expecting you to be available from the moment the flight touches down. It's a frustrating policy and although I won't take my custom elsewhere as a result I will be mindful of it in the future. I have booked airport pickups with local companies in the past and been a bit surprised about their arrival time for flights. To date, that hasn't been a problem as I haven't needed to wait for luggage, but if I had been hit with an extra ?10 charge as a result I would have been pretty annoyed too. It isn't entitled to expect a cab company that offers airport pickups to have a basic grasp of how air travel works.
  15. @ Jules - the image of the rubbish smoothie being returned to its owner has really brightened my day...
  16. RPC - there are a few ?12/?16 tickets for R&G. One more week released today so there may be some available. There are also day tickets and the front 2 rows are reserved for a ?20 per ticket daily lottery.
  17. Sorry fox that wasn't my intention at all - just that you were the only person who I noticed on here who had said they went. I didn't think the comments you left on the other thread were rude or unfair - just recording your experience.
  18. I think the Fox stopped by on opening night and has left a few comments on another thread.
  19. If this thread is actually about the completely imagined wholesale price of snails vs duck legs it needs to go in the lounge...
  20. Old bob that sounds awful - I hope you and your son (and the other supporters)are OK.
  21. My sister has one from eve. She loves it- I went over the other day and had to agree, it was very comfy!
  22. Alice so sorry to hear this - I hope your nanny is ok, that sounds incredibly scary. I was on crawthew grove, between lordship lane and spurling road, at between 18.40 and 18.45 and saw nothing coming down/up the road. Mentioning in case it is helpful if you need to narrow timeframe and in the hope that the police take assaults/crimes like this more seriously.
  23. 4.6 - ouch. Though I do recall a few episodes a month or two back where drivers had the habit of, from elephant and castle, driving me down OKR to get me to Goose Green - a practice which I allowed once and then objected to thereafter. Or I could be a complete witch.
  24. To counter what peckham_ryu has said I think "terrorist" is entirely racially motivated thing to shout at someone. I think Jim that your actions should be applauded - for reporting to the police, yes, but mostly for seeking out the couple to check they were ok and not just telling yourself that it isn't worth the time to get involved.
