  1. Echoing Ourbubble and Jacqui - thanks for letting us know, and I'm very sorry you had your card stolen. I hope your bank refund the money. A shame Tescos couldn't help more (or put a warning up) but I can understand their position.
  2. I like ganapati - would also recommend rajah rowing team for a nice takeaway. It is a chain but every time we have had it we have really enjoyed our meal.
  3. Thanks for sharing these look great. They all look good but I like the black and white one with the 176 the best.
  4. They just told me it is a burst water main so they need to pull up the road - chap tried to do it without a jackhammer and was getting nowhere and if they leave it the street might flood. It does seem to have stopped now!
  5. Pretty much, yes - although I didn't know it was a siege at the time!
  6. Just seen the following article on Hot Dinners about the next team to take over at Platform 1, Perilla. http://www.hot-dinners.com/Gastroblog/Latest-news/perilla-kicks-off-a-four-month-long-residency-at-platform-1-in-east-dulwich
  7. Les egouts are pretty cool if you have the time. In addition to the museum the staff do guided tours. I'd definitely reccomend.
  8. I always go here or my manicures (gel) and pedicures (normal polish) - ie always found both to be done to a high standard & are long lasting. I also really like the ladies who work in here too - although that's not to take alway from anyone on here who has had a negative experience; I only tend to visit once every 2/3 months.
  9. I can second the baklava tasting amazing! I am also partial to the dolma... More generally, the changes they have made in the last 12 months are great - the fresh fruit and veg are so inviting. I rarely buy meat but I hope they continue to thrive.

We are comparing people who do not have a problem with aircraft noise where they live to those that deny the genocide of between 5 and 6 million people? What a thoroughly odious comment from a thoroughly odious individual. Shame on you.
  11. Sue - no they don't! And without a website it's pretty hard to tell when they intend to be open in the first place- twice I have set off from home on a sunny afternoon specifically to get an ice cream from them(I only live 10 mins away ) and twice they have been shut - very lazy of me but makes me a lot less likely to pop down in the future... Which is a shame because I really enjoy their ice cream- delicious and great value.
  12. I love George - such a wonderfully friendly little chappie. He's gorgeous.
  13. Chatting to one of the bar staff on Friday (and noticing that his cubby hole has been refurbed out) it sounds like Clarence has now retired. I also wondered if their opening hours are slightly shorter? They're open till 1.30 - I thought this used to be later.
  14. Jah- this is my biggest concern. Nigello - the hope might be a bit out of the way but I am crossing my fingers that john the unicorn will be ready. This unfortunately won't help aforementioned biggest concern. I've never been to the peckham liberal club but have always wondered about what lies within!
  15. I had completely forgotten about the Montpellier and really do prefer it to the FP. I didn't even know the four quarters existed (I think it's disguised a bit too well, I'd always thought it was a weird casino) but what a great place for a regroup! I love pedlar as well but think they may not take too kindly to us piling in en masse and demanding a quick round of peckham martinis at the bar...
  16. Hello EDF! The nights are getting warmer and longer, and I'm planning a pub crawl, playing the birthday card to keep "can't we go somewhere central?" to a minimum. I'm going to start at Goose Green and wind my way up to Rye Lane and the Bussey Building, but thought that there would be no better place than here to check I'd not missed any favourite pubs/bars out! Current plans are: The Bishop The EDT Heading up to the Flying Pig Then on to the Gowlett (Skipping the Victoria and Prince Albert through fear of blood poisoning) Up Blenheim Grove to Bar Story/Peckham Springs/Brick Brewery Aaannd as Franks isn't open for another month, popping up to the roof of the Bussey Building (if it isn't raining)so the tourists can enjoy the view. If I've missed an unmissable, your thoughts would be welcome! Cheers!
  17. I can't wait for this - colleagues have been raving about deliveroo for ages and I've been so jealous!
  18. I agree - the aircon is terrible, it actually strikes me as bordering on dangerous in the summer months when it can be much warmer in the building than outside, with no ventilation!
  19. I really enjoy the food (and cocktails) there - only downside is actually getting in. I have popped past a few times and there was a queue out the door to be seated. The owners also make little bird gin, which ends up in quite a few of the drinks. I wish them every success and think it's a great addition.
  20. Oh, I think they're great! I'm under no illusion of this being a romantic restaurant to while away the hours in, but the pizzas are tasty & reasonably priced. I've never had a soggy old one (ooer!).
  21. Went to the brown dog just before Xmas and it was wonderful! The food was great, and as a dog friendly pub there were pigs ears for the four legged friends!
  22. I'd also like to add thumbs up and say I've both eaten and drunk here and thought it was great value for money - from memory it was ?37 for 3 cocktails each, and 4 plates of food shared "family style" between 3...plus some olives. The staff were lovely and knowledgable and the food/drinks were very tasty. I'm looking forward to going back, wish them every success and think it really livens up that bit of the lane.
  23. I think canola oil is very similar to rapeseed oil - rapeseed oil being quite posh stuff that has been cold pressed. Contrary to what has been posted above I have always been told that canola/rapeseed it is much healthier than other oils (as Loz states) because it has the lowest saturated fat of any cooking oil... But, you know...I'm sure I've been told varying numbers of eggs I should eat in a week too, so everything in moderation.

For example- I've just been to the pool and had a 45 min swim. According to the app, that's over 700 calories! I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth but that's more than running! I am also finding out to my great dismay there are many more calories in shortcrust pastry than I would like...
