  1. Yes, a girl can enjoy sex with her partner and have a lot of it whilst still having self respect. Perhaps what bawdy-nan was referring to is the increased objectification of girls and women - and there is a perception that women should be judged on their sexual value. Hence the girl may have felt that the way in which she could best impress her male audience would be to tell them how much sex she was capable of having in one day and how. Perhaps this is the reference to self respect - you should know you are more than a sex object.
  2. I wish I knew this a year ago - stayed up until 3am wondering why the bloody thing wouldn't freeze. I suppose that's what the instruction manual was for...
  3. We popped in today. Thought it was very reasonably priced - OH opted for a nice tarte flambee and I had a salad. I asked for some bread with the salad as I was worried it might be a little on the small side considering the ?8 price tag- in the end it wasn't needed as portions were very generous but was eaten nonetheless because it was so tasty. We also had some coffee (which I can confirm was also good, although not sure yet if it beats ToastED) and some delicious wine. We will be back and look forward to bringing our French friends as we know they would love the atmosphere and the food too. What a wonderful addition, and we wish the best of luck to Audrey and her team. Finished up the afternoon with a trip to la cave de Bruno for a refillable bottle of wine then sat with a glass of it in the park. What a wonderful place we live in!
  4. We used the newsagent/phone shop at corner of east dulwich grove/Melbourne to repair a cracked iPhone screen recently. Dropped it off and returned in an hour and a half to pick up fixed phone. Can't remember exact cost but do remember it was much less than expected.
  5. We got a letter through the door yesterday detailing some truck deliveries which would be taking place over the course of the next few weeks. I assume it's for this project- although it was just a crumpled print out.
  6. Bit of a random question - I paid to visit a private doctor today (my GP wouldn't see me for a week, which wasn't an option for me!), and was given a private prescription for 3 months worth of antibiotics to deal with an infection. I popped to boots at lunch, who didn't have that quantity in stock - but told me that it would cost about ?120 to fill. I was a bit shocked, and googled the product online. I found an online pharmacy (chemistdirect.co.uk) that stocked the product at a significantly lower price. The telegraph recently wrote an article on the company, and it seems to be legit- but searching online consumer reviews seem a little mixed. I was wondering if anyone on here had any experiences (good or bad) that they could share? Thank you! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/festival-of-business/10162889/Online-pharmacy-ChemistDirect-has-found-right-remedy.html
  7. Titch Juicy -No, it's not, but it is perceived as such. Edited to be clearer!
  8. I completely agree rahrahrah. I often think about the wonderful restaurants we have nearby, from a personal perspective a lot of friends are put off from visiting our area because without the tube it is perceived as difficult to get to (or from past a certain time of night). I don't like to think of ED becoming a version of northcote road and I love it's character - but I do think that better transport links will help local businesses flourish.
  9. We had a lovely takeaway from there - our new favourite. We'd love to try ganapati but can never get through (and that's not for lack of trying!)
  10. We had David Duggan come out and help us with our condensation/damp problem - if you search in the trades section you should find recommendations/reviews and contact details.
  11. We stayed at Villa Emilia and loved it (and the lovely roof terrace)- it was a lovely boutique place not too far from the university district and quite close to a lovely tapas place cuidad condal. I'd also reccomend parc guell in the north for amazing views over the city. The sagrada famillia blew me away - and you can book tickets in advance through some of the ATMs so don't have to q on the day!
  12. I've downloaded a really good app called houzz (there is also a website) which allows you to scroll through throusands of interior design photos. You can create picture books (much like in Pinterest) to save pictures you like, and make a personal note on them to refer back to later. Some of the items are even tagged in posts so if you like the item you can find out where to buy it and at what price.
  13. I really enjoy reading your posts on this thread *Bob* - so thanks for the data, and the maps! I too only seem to notice the planes intermittently, and they don't ever bother me. That's not to say I love plane noise - whenever I am in putney it seems much worse.
  14. Wasn't the idea that they were actually out for ages? So they had come back in the morning still pissed, and then been found passed out on the sofa. Agree - 2 hours to get that drunk and visit that many pubs, with transport is not very feasible!
  15. Just to second the recommendation for David - we used him for a damp/mould issue and he sorted it all out for us - also was very nice and knowledgeable.
  16. As an update for anyone wondering - we've just caled customer service and they have confirmed there is a known issue in the area. They are sending an engineer and the issue should be resolved in the next 24 to 48 hours. Given we have just been notified of a price increase of over 10% I am not very impressed!!!
  17. We are also having an issue and are have requested through the website that a broadband test is carried out.
  18. Comfort and joy (?) at the north cross road market do a lovely one.
  19. Just popped in and it was lovely - they've also got a tombola on which I thought was a nice way to raise some extra money.
  20. Hi there - would hesitate David Duggan for this - very kind and considerate and knows his stuff!!! Lots of recommendations for him on the forum.
  21. Surprised about the comments re:coffee... I much prefer the coffee served in toasted, and frequently pop in to get a cup to take away. While the sizes are smaller than Nero the quality is in my opinion far far higher - and such nice bar staff as well!!!! It's about 1.90 for an americano and 2.20 for a flat white (but more if you're not taking away) so I don't see it as more expensive than nearby places. Can't comment on the pastries though!
