Time Out Love London Awards - voting closing soon!

I am not a property afficionado - but all the advice I received when buying was that you should go for a full structural when buying a house - although homebuyers could be used for a flat.

Both of these look like they warrant some further investigation!! Thanks.

I've been for drinks in Hutong for a special occasion. We went on a Friday at about 5pm. We didn't eat, and didn't book a table - just rocked up at the bar and say down at a table. Stayed for a couple at about ?10-12 a pop for a cocktail, plus 12.5% service. The toilets were pretty special, and we lived pointing out all the landmarks from up top. Afterwards we walked along the river to the horniman - a very nice evening out.

New Shops in Dulwich / Peckham
KrackersMaracas replied to LondonMix's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Also a new Vietnamese place in the bussey - Banh Banh. I think they have been running about a month and are located next to rye wax - who do 2 for 1 cocktails between 6-8pm. Not sure if it is just a pop up or a permanent fixture, but the food I had today at their nunhead bite stall was nice. -

Late night noise near Lordship Lane
KrackersMaracas replied to DaveHew's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Worldwiser - thanks for posting. I've been bothered for a while about these collections(particularly bad in the summer when the windows are wide open) but was never sure what we could do as it doesn't seem to be the pub but the people loading the bottles on to the truck. I think the people collecting the refuse have to throw the bags of bottles over the cage surrounding the refuse truck and this is why it makes such a noise. -
Yes, a girl can enjoy sex with her partner and have a lot of it whilst still having self respect. Perhaps what bawdy-nan was referring to is the increased objectification of girls and women - and there is a perception that women should be judged on their sexual value. Hence the girl may have felt that the way in which she could best impress her male audience would be to tell them how much sex she was capable of having in one day and how. Perhaps this is the reference to self respect - you should know you are more than a sex object.

I wish I knew this a year ago - stayed up until 3am wondering why the bloody thing wouldn't freeze. I suppose that's what the instruction manual was for...

What's Happening on Crawthew Grove Project?
KrackersMaracas replied to i*Rate's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We got a letter through the door yesterday detailing some truck deliveries which would be taking place over the course of the next few weeks. I assume it's for this project- although it was just a crumpled print out. -
Has anyone ever used chemist direct?
KrackersMaracas replied to KrackersMaracas's topic in The Lounge
Thanks drxyster! -
Bit of a random question - I paid to visit a private doctor today (my GP wouldn't see me for a week, which wasn't an option for me!), and was given a private prescription for 3 months worth of antibiotics to deal with an infection. I popped to boots at lunch, who didn't have that quantity in stock - but told me that it would cost about ?120 to fill. I was a bit shocked, and googled the product online. I found an online pharmacy (chemistdirect.co.uk) that stocked the product at a significantly lower price. The telegraph recently wrote an article on the company, and it seems to be legit- but searching online consumer reviews seem a little mixed. I was wondering if anyone on here had any experiences (good or bad) that they could share? Thank you! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/festival-of-business/10162889/Online-pharmacy-ChemistDirect-has-found-right-remedy.html

I completely agree rahrahrah. I often think about the wonderful restaurants we have nearby, from a personal perspective a lot of friends are put off from visiting our area because without the tube it is perceived as difficult to get to (or from past a certain time of night). I don't like to think of ED becoming a version of northcote road and I love it's character - but I do think that better transport links will help local businesses flourish.

We stayed at Villa Emilia and loved it (and the lovely roof terrace)- it was a lovely boutique place not too far from the university district and quite close to a lovely tapas place cuidad condal. I'd also reccomend parc guell in the north for amazing views over the city. The sagrada famillia blew me away - and you can book tickets in advance through some of the ATMs so don't have to q on the day!

I've downloaded a really good app called houzz (there is also a website) which allows you to scroll through throusands of interior design photos. You can create picture books (much like in Pinterest) to save pictures you like, and make a personal note on them to refer back to later. Some of the items are even tagged in posts so if you like the item you can find out where to buy it and at what price.

Aircraft noise - have your say...
KrackersMaracas replied to SplendidLikePeckham's topic in The Lounge
I really enjoy reading your posts on this thread *Bob* - so thanks for the data, and the maps! I too only seem to notice the planes intermittently, and they don't ever bother me. That's not to say I love plane noise - whenever I am in putney it seems much worse. -
Wasn't the idea that they were actually out for ages? So they had come back in the morning still pissed, and then been found passed out on the sofa. Agree - 2 hours to get that drunk and visit that many pubs, with transport is not very feasible!

loss of broadband virgin media anybody else
KrackersMaracas replied to Countrlass22's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
As an update for anyone wondering - we've just caled customer service and they have confirmed there is a known issue in the area. They are sending an engineer and the issue should be resolved in the next 24 to 48 hours. Given we have just been notified of a price increase of over 10% I am not very impressed!!! -

We are also having an issue and are have requested through the website that a broadband test is carried out. -
Just popped in and it was lovely - they've also got a tombola on which I thought was a nice way to raise some extra money.

I suspect you're exactly right. We bought our first place through Foxtons - NEVER AGAIN! We didn't have anything to compare it to at the time, and it was only afterwards we realised that although purchasing your first place (or any place) is always very stressful, it doesn't have to be THAT stressful!!!!! -

We bought our 1st home a year ago, as a "two salary couple"... The calculation that was used to work out our mortgage limit was slightly different than yours, StraferJack. When we were buying (although it could have changed and will be dependent on lender) it was 3.5 times our joint income. As such, a couple with a ?80k joint income would be looking at a ?280k, rather than ?205k.
