started musing on how NY and LA addressisms would apply in east dulwich ... so what do people think? LL = SoGo aka south of goose green. Horniman to top of LL the valley? se5/15/22 crossroads harlem or brooklyn heights with it's million pound houses on the grove?

this is off thread but hey, i'm liking the NY speak so: is the bottom end of ED (station side) down or up town then? or is NY parlance only applicable to LL which seems a bit nuts if that is the case as it misses out the whole stretch to the station and goose green back to the rye. i'll assume that it's (the station) up town as we are going north. therefore i am 2nd street upper north east side, just off pytchley & vale, so (counting from pythcley) about 8 blocks away from the tyre shop?? i may start a thread about this, could be fun? -
well it was quiet in there, but we sat outside. as it's an old style pub when i do go there and it's quiet i'm never that bothered, it doesn't have that feel of an empty cool bar when you feel like 'i'm i the only one that doesn't know when the party is on?' Plus the land lord/bar staff are always up for a chat. they also have wifi in there which is handy when i want to get away from la famille down the road...

sounds great! i was up in 'mid town' as some forumites call it (moxons drag) and i see that the gym opposite lane cafe is coming along, it's a great building. -
is anyone watching big brother this year?
mamafeelgood replied to mamafeelgood's topic in The Lounge
it was rather classic. the departure of chanelle and the half way house just lost me this year. i loved watching ziggy whince every time chanelle was not voted out etc... -
just been there for a lovely lazy bank holiday pint in the sun. as i looked out i could see over the road a sign with se15 written on it ... should we include peckahm then? does it make it part of the bellenden regen ... or is this area soon to be renamed the post code cross road? let's see what foxtons come up with...

having watched nearly all of them i agree that this year knocks the socks of the previous 2 (the last decent one being when nadia one in my humble opinion) but, this year as soon as they introduced the half way house i just lost any interest. i was interested to read that the phone voting was still making c4 a packet yet i don't know anyone watching this year. what i will always love about bb is the passion is sparks in people becuase when people hate it they really HATE IT and they have to repeatedly tell you why you're a moron for watching it. -
or has it finally died on us?

we too moved from brixton, water lane though, by the park. blimey i was happy to get out. in the end the the high street was just all getting out of control again, i was 8 months pregnant with people offering me skunk and cocaine outside the tube! i also agree with helen, i just couldn't stomach anymore fried chicken take outs littering the place. i do miss the ritzy though, that's a gem. let's face it east dulwich life ia a lot calmer and gentle.

6 Lordship Lane (& other shop planning applications)
mamafeelgood replied to Nero's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
oh right, i was wondering what was going on with the empty units by the video shop (that sounds some what outdated 'video' shop. so bombay going there, what goes next door? or has all this been sorted on another thread? sorry if it has and please redirect me, cheers. i remember reading about a gym or osteopath place, but i thought that was going up towards the plough end ... so much activity on one south east london high street. it's all too exciting. -

good point, a basic p.c. / mac shop would be most helpful. i like the tyre shop too, wonder what that will be transformed into? a luxury buscuit boutique? -
i hope all those letters have gone in the recycling my dears and not your bins! we got 2 letters even with our lowly se5/se22/se15 boarder address. i don't care about them, just pleased that the bricked up facade is being opened up. however, wonder what parking is going to be like behind that strip. what with Ludlows' and Wates' beetles and Haarts' minis where will all those 'foxtonmobiles' go?

anyone been to or going to see prince live?

can't wait ... maceo and his purple highness in the dome, madness. -
i'm off to see him in september and just wondered what people had thought of what they had seen. i have also heard that maceo parker is playing with him, could someone please confirm?

you're all raving mad. i was born in a london post code and lived in london post code area all my life. have nothing to prove to anyone so don't care what my post code is, just whether the amenities are good. but if you want to be a true londoner you would be mortified to admit that you lived in an area with a code as high as 22. se22 is just embarassing if you are really up with london bull, oh and an 020 8 number, forget it, you're in hicksville. so i'm pleased to be in se5 with 020 7 but it really means nowt to me as i never go to camberwell, known as the maudsleys out patient room in our household. lived there for years before moving but why walk for over half an hour to butterfly shopping centre when in 15 i'm on LL? hoopers is a great local, the kind of place that half the forum cries about losing in se22, so put your money where your moan is and support a truely independent pub. p.s. most snobs in clapham claim to live in battersea...
