  1. i totally agree jessie, surely the papers would not be allowed to print half the material that they are in the UK if the case was happening here as it could influence the outcome of a future trial. people have certainly 'got off' before claiming that the pre case press had influenced the jury.
  2. i don't get hindwoods or what is going on with the 3 'under offer'/'sold' empty shops up by SMBS, the cafe and video store. there hasn't been any work done on them and signs have been there for ages... the old women sounds mad, but then they often are. i can't see how she can complain about a quality butchers but hey it's her shop to do as she pleases and clearly she's no interesting in pleasing anyone else. maybe we could get the council to do what they did in hoxton: for a while empty shop fronts or the shutters they put down were given to artists to decorate. looked rather good.
  3. wow, this street gets more attention than any other on the forum and so does hoopers, we should be given a post code all to ourselves (nod to current other thread). to add, it's great here. i have 2 young children and guess what? the kids still play on the street down at the estate end, how rare is that for london? i know all my neighbours, have never experienced any trouble on/with the estate, you are close to the best transport links in the neighbourhood, it's quiet (you don't get any LL spill over at the weekend), the council is just refurbing the estate, there are no estate agents ... shall i go on? no need. just buy and be satisfied that you didn't pay a ridiculous price for a property yet live at the cross roads of bellenden, LL and 'denmark hill village' (copyright jenny eclair)
  4. just got back from holidays and they're even talking about it in france and switzerland. whatever the outcome it seems to have caught people up like diana's death, that odd human bonding in tragedy. as for the who done it? well what worries me is that with high profile cases like this the police are often under immense pressure to get a result which can lead to many a miscarriage of justice.
  5. ahhhh thank you, this dove sent from camberwell to make all east and west dulwich residents feel warm with love for their fellow neighbour and forums. thank you mockney for making it happen ...
  6. DM, i fear the noise would wake the children.
  7. no ...
  8. http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&q=dove&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2 is this it, have i succeeded to embed the dove of east west love?
  9. can anyone tell me how to get the pesky dove imbedded in the message?!
  10. blimey, a lot was posted before i got my one up there. i understand why downsouth feels or has felt a bit miffed and mr sean you are doing a great job of umpiring (sp my south west london state education showing up there) the many comments. nero, we do need the icon of a dove so i have been on t'internet and found this to symbolise the peace settling on the western front...
  11. hey jan t surely you're not that far from bellenden road as it's only LL? i am intrigued by which soups they will offer, i hope crab meat is on the menu and they deliver. us poor mums only get to terrorise the neighbourhood with our 3 wheelers during the day and i figure my 23 month olds won't really appreciate chilli soup for lunch.
  12. lordy lord, i had hoped that the ;) would refer to it all being a bit of fun, i hate using proper smileys so i shall force myself in the future so then they cannot be missed! plus i was just trying to make downsouth feel like they had someone laughing at this forum. no offence meant, but i do hope that more than one mum is allowed to be tongue in cheek :)) smiley added for guaranteed understanding that this is meant to be fun.
  13. oh how i loved bellenden road 10 years ago. it was a really nice place to go get a coffee, pick up an interesting read and find a bite to eat. oh, but now there is nothing for no one. no cost cutter, no fry up, no nice hot drinks, no choice of pubs, no book shop, no chicken take out ... such a lack of service for the whole community. boo hoo. and now a vietnamese place selling different food and coffee, adding to choice, in peckham, well we just can't have that. all this regeneration is just too exhausting, i'm going to have to go lie down with lucozade.
  14. blimey, how big can an east dulwich ego get? hang around on here downsouth and find out ... it's not always pretty. good luck to you, the forum sounds like a great idea and it sounds like there are loads of issues round your manor that could do with real communication amongst residents. may well beat the boring thump of 'oh no, ED is too middle class, not middle class enough' 'oh no estate agents' 'oh no 3 wheeler buggy' '?11 sandwiches (yes ?11) in local tea shop' blah blah ;) i see that one of the most heavy weight local issues is currently new traffic lights of forest hill, ain't life sweet.
  15. ha, i think the chinese would like to be reviewed by jay raynor too, but not too sure that he'd be that positive about it. having said that my sister had some left overs and it was a load better than the previous owners. it's changed name to sechuazan (sp?)... i am intrigued by lamoon now especially with all the positive feed back, shall be trying them.
  16. "has not been reviewed by jay raynor and probably uses too much msg " no he (jay raynor) did not review the place opposite hoopers, sorry.
  17. it was full of dogs (the animals i mean) and they had run out of beer when we got there at only 4 p.m. so make your own mind up from that ...
  18. oh yes, it's a great little number as they deliver their sushi too. ok ok, it's not the best in london but it's not bad either.
  19. you can always head to sainsburys for cash, closer than LL.
  20. stella, just be happy that you didn't mention se5, the possibility that you may support a chain opening on the LL or that you know or are related to any estate agents...now that would inspire edf 'witty' wrath. this said i went to chopsticks and thought neither bar nor good of it. our local takeway by hoopers has just changed hands and although the menu has shrunk the food does seem a tad better. it's called the 4 seasons, has not been reviewed by jay raynor and probably uses too much msg but hey, it's on my doorstep. very interested by lamoon recommendations, shall definitely be trying them out. personally, i also like to indulge in some fujiyama take away. it is one of those brixton staples that doesn't travel too badly.
  21. the state of british telly is awful but to anyone who has emigrated they will remind you that it's still excellent plus we get to see the good american stuff for free, albeit a year later. BB is BB and seems to attract that radical hatred normally reserved for religion, smoking and politics. so everyone can sigh a sigh of relief as it disappears from our lives for another 10 months. everyone should get back into the clangers, my kids love it and it is truely great ...
  22. i agree, i go when i get the chance which is not often but that's because i'm stuck in with the kids, no offense kids x
  23. oh my god the twin and brian are not sure what the universe is. i am not sure if this is a set up or for real.
  24. "bits of reverse parking onto the sidewalk" how very transatlantic citizen.
  25. maybe they should seriously consider just dedicating a freeview channel to it next year. i totally agree that it clogs up channel 4 prime time but believe it or not it is still massively succesful. channel 4 seem to be creating new +1 channels left right and centre, they should just dedicate 2 months of c4+1 a year to 100% dedicated BB programming and leave c4 to the rest of us! i cannot believe that they are evicting so many people in one final night. tonights chapter feels just like some mid series lull, not the one before the end. very strange ...
