pray tell who will be paying for your healthcare and minimal pension when old and without kids?...oh yes, those kids you spit on whilst insisting on going to a pub with a climbing frame (oh i forgot it was put there for the adult drinkers, of course, or squirrels) jeez. i hate weekends as all the pubs are full of people that are usually safely somewhere else during the week leaving the rest of us to enjoy the delights of this great neighbourhood in peace. including the great unwashed, unemployed, old folk and and lord forbid, some mothers too.

*quick duck down* someone mentioned the word chain ... may the deluge begin as the rest of us fall asleep. -
blimey, living in brixton before landing in this area (that i dare not call middle class for fear of lynching) i would say that in sw2 you didn't even need the pub for the fight. the best place to watch the free head kicking was always outside the ritzy on saturday night. maybe we could get some of the new 16 year old special constables to police our 'gentrified against will' streets of lordship lane area.

deli looks good, i just hope that there's enough trade for it and lucius and richards to survive together. it will be great if the vietnamese delivers ...

my cousin went for the theme from top gun, all of us burst out laughing, it was a poor show... but how could we take it seriously? mind you it was the early 90's and the bride had BIG hair.

a baker and spice? where the food is so expensive that even my north london friends are offended. i hope not ...

sorry, typo: i meant ..." now being bandied around..."

well just to clear it up the london mayor has one of the strongest mandates in the country and actually has immense political weight so i don't buy this 'the mayor is just a figure head'. s/he is far from it. the congestion charge is one example of how ken has flown in the face of westminster to implement a policy that is not being bandied around as a national possibility. as for our west london neighbours most of them have been pleasently surprised with the results of the extension (what friends have said). anyhow, richmond council hit the 4X4's way before anyone else dared. so if chelsea and westminster want to vote for boris so be it, but i can't see it being a blue revolution...
-
james i agree with what you say and today the standard runs with an amazing title along the lines of 'surge in popularity for boris.' well you don't say? in just 24 hours. how happy they would be to see the back of the newt king himself.

jesus all of you order a titty latte and chill out: pro breastfeeding lobby, please respect a mother who does not wish to breast feed. offended public, get over it. if women are happy to run the gauntlet of juvenile boys or filming girls fair play to them, the nero windows are perfect for it.

i write this as i knock down the innocent young and old of ED with my MASSIVE buggy containing 2 children that i unleash in every calm happy looking bar in the area. i have written to tescos, gap and of course asda, pleading with them to open a store here on LL. i dream of the day when the air rings with the noise of city slickers screaming 'sell, sell," down their phones. i'm simply sad to think that we will never enjoy the 'oz/south african' youth invasion as enjoyed by other areas like sheperds bush, ensuring that we never get a walkabout pub... damn, did i just say that out loud ...;) -

it all sounds good, kids, new shops, flats and all. i too am intrigued by the shoe shop, wonder what it will be like? however, when are we going to get a decent japanese or italian?? i know, i know this has been discussed on many threads before, but that would be the best of best news, even if it was a chain *horror* like itsu... -
is anyone out there a freegan?

channel 4, BBC mainly, politics and history, post 9 p.m. 1 hours, and i bailed out because of some of the most unbalanced editorial decisions i had to witness, channel 4 being the worst. work in the arts now. myself and my point of view wish you nothing but good luck, but i too am allowed to have an opinion and sadly 'tis not a positive one. also, i'm not lying about another company getting in touch with the veggie society, but if you're not interested fair play. -

does each thread ultimately become a discussion on why anything that proposes to open on LL is bad and about buggies/kids in pubs? if you're complaining about originality of shops/eateries maybe you could start by working on originality of thread material. i welcome any new cafe, boutique whatever, especially if it plugs up one of the empty ugly shops. bring it on ... -

having worked in docs for many years my first instinct is never trust anyone in telly. for example: why haven't you got a production company email? or would that break the media secrets act? also, are you the same lot that got in touch with the vegetarian society for contacts? if not there are several companies out on the search for freegans ... sorry ... it's all based on my own experience. but luckly for you i'm not a freegan. -
does that have to be a forum postcard to qualify ..?

since mumtaz shut down the place has never been the same ... for all those lovers of local stores on this forum that was the post office i shall never forget. i lived in nunhead for about 2 years last century (quite literally), in the bad old days of the P3. for all those who don't remember the P3 you are lucky. it was the bus spotted that graced its' route so rarely there were near riots in elephant when trying to get on. i felt cut off and in the middle of nowhere. i have never really liked nunhead since. when we bought over a year ago i decided to max out on the mortgage and not have to deal with living there again. that said east dulwich was still affordable, just. sorry but i really just don't like the place. however, did you know that it is london's smallest post code district...

how ironic: that human footprint disgusted me, wasting food to just prove a point. how ironic, the guy in the bins doesn't bother me, however much he or she may or may not earn. yet a television company wasting how many eggs for the money shot? -

chener books the guy just reminds of the comic bookstore guy in the simpsons. whilst i agree we don't need a books etc... there's nowt wrong with pointing out that chener could maybe improve their service a tad. i agree with the comment about the kings road, the same has happened to ken high street. i remember the old ken market where as a teenage goth, many moons ago, you could pick up all your needs. now it's just the gap followed by JD etc... both those streets used to have loads of individulity, lord, i've just remembered hyper hyper, but have lost it all. HOWEVER as oft repeated i really do not think that this is going to happen to east dulwich, the worst that will happen here is that it will become a mini barnes, and i hate to say folks, that ain't too bad (oooh i can hear some of you reeling already.) so back to message: a gym down lordship lane, well why not? i see no problem with that, just don't expect me to do any escercise or join ... -
long handles and cotton, always a must, you can put it over shoulder and chuck it in the wash ... that's my vote.

regarding the reference about the homeless drug problem years ago i was doing research about the situation in london, over and over the care workers repeated that drugs are taking over and making it harder and harder to help. clearly not all homeless people are in this situation but in the west end many echoed the complaint that it was all about getting cash for drugs not for food or shelter. however, i don't think that there is anything wrong with diving in bins for food even if you are earning yet, there is a lot wrong with being a smug git about it! -
