  1. And everyone is Beautiful ?
  2. https://www.politico.eu/article/paris-bans-e-scooters-in-landmark-referendums/ Hardly made up, this says that when the contracts come to an end in September and rental eScooters will be removed from the streets of Paris. As usual Mr Chicken you try and put down other posters who disagree with you. Personally I can't wait till london bans them as they are just a bl00dy nucience riden by people going back to being 4 again.😅
  3. It was Paris banning eScooters back in April. Fact not made up 🤔 https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/apr/02/parisians-vote-on-banning-e-scooters-from-french-capital#:~:text=Paris has almost 15%2C000 e,thrown into the River Seine.
  4. I would suggest reading back through this thread and others on the subject. The report has been discussed and the feeling is that it doesn't match with experience locally. Don't worry, they don't, James McAsh did start a thread on here but ran away quickly when he realised it was safer in the southwark ivory tower 😉
  5. Maybe southwark Labour should take note here and start listening to residents concerns. 🤔 BBC News - Uxbridge: Keir Starmer says Labour must learn lessons of by-election defeat https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-66277211
  6. If a CPZ is introduced, double yellow lines across and extending past each dropped curb will appear making it illegal to park across their own drive. Where two houses next to each other have a dropped curb, the two parking spaces between will become only one due to these extended lines. Don't expect to retain as many parking spaces in your road as there are now.
  7. Sadly it has been reported that the Mayor is in favour of this, not because it reduces car use or emissions, but due to anticipated falling revenues from the Ultra Low Emission Zone once cars are ULEZ compliant. Points a very sh!tty stick at the real reasons these schemes are introduced, revenue generation.
  8. Again, another supporter of punish the drivers to get them out of their cars without supplying credible alternatives. If you want people to give up their cars then there must be a better frequent and safe (in the situation of covid) alternative public transport system to incentivise them to do so. Saying get out and walk and cycle is not the answer.
  9. Oh dear Repeating Mr Khans lie, sorry misspoken statement. You really must keep up with the truth. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-66060758.amp
  10. Can you demonstrate that they are anecdotal and not verbatim Mal. If they are as reported then it does leave the credibility of two people rather in tatters
  11. Madness If you go see a consultant at King's they may say, get a blood test on your way out and now you would need to book one and possibly return another day. How is that helping the patient ?
  12. Tis the end of humanity mark my words young un
  13. Mal, let's look at what happened to the no 12, its gone from every 5 or 6 minutes to every 12 minutes (if you're lucky) Whilst I use it frequently, it's no longer a convenient bus to go to central London and there was talk of cutting it entirely. It's a busy bus and it needs to be returned to its previous frequency to encourage people out of their cars. Less is not more when it comes to public transport. Years ago we had an excellent network of clean public transport including electric trams, more frequent buses and more trains but progression and the beeching report pushed people into car ownership which is where the current issue is. Slowly over the past 50 years governments have eroded public transport to a point where the car became king and unless that erosion is reversed people will be reluctant to give up cars for packed limited public transport services. Let's be honest, if everyone here lost the use of their car tomorrow, buses and trains in their current service pattern and capacity would fail and people would avoid them due to lack of capacity More public transport is required, nor less and reducing capacity to free up central london was a massive blunder by TfL.
  14. A double decker can carry around 87 passengers which represents (based on most peoples perception of single car occupancy ) 87 cars not driving. Why oh why are TfL and the council not pushing for more buses and bus routes rather than driving towards penalising car owners who then can't make longer or essential ,(heavy shopping / goods or carrying those less able to walk) journeys? It isn't about being green but bringing in revenue for councils as they can charge for bays and for car clubs / lime to be in the Borough whilst making even more through fines.!
  15. This happens down other roads like Barry Road too. A handful of drivers are frustrated by being limited to 20mph and as a result you see the sort of incidents you describe above. It's similar to the mentality that if you are doing 70 in the fast lane on a motorway overtaking another car, there will always be one (or more) drivers pushing their luck and flash you ro move over whilst they thunder past above the speed limit. Thankfully it's not all drivers and the majority are sensible.
  16. Amazing, so something that will effect so many has a limited by tickets consultation meeting. Obviously the council don't want everyone ascending on mass, to control numbers for safety and possibly to also control the narrative 🙄
  17. Whilst I am an advocate of reducing advertising for junk food and a more healthy diet for all, I think that in this case TfL are a little over zealous : BBC News - West End play poster banned by TfL over 'unhealthy' cake https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-66119218
  18. Hi DulVilleRes Guess the only course of action is for you to approach one dulwich and ask the questions directly. It may well be that whilst people post their updates that they have seen, they are not part of the group.so can't answer the question. If you do find the answers you seek please post them on the forum so that everyone can see.
  19. With the newly introduced limit on the number of tweets you can see, could this be the death throes of twitter ? Maybe not a bad thing as a lot of social media has become toxic over the years, maybe we all need to step back and re-engage in the real, not virtual, world 😉 to see people for who they are and not to be manipulated by algorithms that reinforce our beliefs, right or wring. Lol one can only dream !
  20. Maybe, and here's a shocker, but maybe they aren't forum members as their world doesn't revolve around the EDF I could be wrong but that's the most likely possibility.🥸
  21. It was a blatant misrepresentation of the truth. If he was Boris, you would be calling for him to resign by now. The whole premise for not delaying the implementation is a lie as more people are impacted during the cost of living crisis than Khan claimed.
  22. There's newspeak being used BBC News - ULEZ: Watchdog criticises mayor over data transparency https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-66060758 "The Mayors office admitted he misspoke in March when he said 9 in 10 households complied" That's newspeak for lied through his teeth. I wonder how many other officials have manipulated the truth to suit their narrative 🤔
  23. Mal, the adapted bikes at a velodrome is a far cry from practical use. Yes, maybe I can use one but then what, I get to my destination and just sit there because I can't get off / leave the bike without aides ? Pretty bloody useless if I want to go shopping or to thewl pub as sitting on an adapted bike makes them inaccessible and saying "someone will help you" is not the answer You are right, patents are risk adverse concerning children so they drive them everywhere but equally they may have two kids at different schools so walking isn't practical Earl, how does removing parking from side roads help buses? Lordship Lane maybe, Barry Road possibly but side roads where buses don't run ? Besides main roads are actually wide enough for car parking and buses to pass. As I said public transport needs to return to pre covid levels around here,if not better, before people will really consider leaving their cars at home. It's not a case of clearer roads will speed up buses as tfl have a schedule that even if the bus runs faster (school hols for example) they will be forced by the schedule to wait here to regulate the route which is even more frustrating then getting stuck in traffic
  24. Again abelist ex lashes out. What I said was that public transport needs to be improved, I don't say that as an anti ltn stance but that not everyone can walk or cycle The under 17 comment is a joke as whilst they can't drive, mum and dad taxis are prevalent so they are driven 🤔 and the same is true for elderly and disabled who can't physically drive themselves Unfortunately without great public transport a large swathe of the population are disadvantaged by the drive towards the walking and cycling agenda as it excludes them. Please think before you dismiss comments by people who live with issues.
  25. Again, the abelist response People can walk and cycle. There is a large swathe of local people who can't and with the reduction in train and bus frequency over the past few years your argument of alternatives doesn't work for everyone. The cuts to services need to be reversed otherwise those that find walking and cycling impossible or difficult will feel further alienated as the current schemes are not disabled friendly (trust me I speak from experience)
