  1. This makes it sound like the modern equivalent of how many students can you pile into a mini 😅 No idea on why but could be multitude of things so not going to speculate.
  2. Mal Genuine question, is the lack of response to your request for feedback from Lime users indicative of a general apathy concerning using them? Got to admit most users I see are school kids with the tell tale clacking of a jacked bike.

  5. The sound of silence to your question is deafening Mal. 😅
  6. Thanks Rockets Interesting article and great that the council are acting on abandoned hire bikes and scooters by adding parking bays for them, however I am concerned that £200 thousands in parking fines and fees is being redirected towards the scheme. Some, possibly most, of the new bays will be within CPZs where business vehicles have to pay higher rates than residents to park, are the hire companies therefore paying to park their hire e vehicles in these bays or is it part of the price they are already paying the council to run the scheme? Strikes me as little bit of favouritism towards lime and others where they should be both fined for abandoned e vehicles and also pay the commercial CPZ rate to access the bays. Schemes lile this should really be funded by the hire companies and not the public purse IMHO.
  7. Its a sign o the times
  8. Have you set up your online account at Thames Water ? If so that's where you can see the comparison information.
  9. As I understand it, the meters are installed and you then get a 12 month window to compare the cost of unmetered vs metered bills and at the end of the 12 months they switch you over automatically. However if you choose to switch during the 12 month window, that years bill will be based on the meter readings, but if you wait for the switch you won't save over the 12 months if your metered bill is lower than unmetered. So it may be that it is active but not being used to bill you yet.
  10. Is it bin day yet ? 😅
  11. Breaking news Santa's sleigh has just been ticketed outside M&S on Lordship Lane 🫣
  12. Are you laughing at the truth Mal Shame on you
  13. Parking enforcement has always been contentious http://www.ukparking.info/front-page/2/a-history-of-parking-enforcement The first ever parking ticket was issued to a doctor attending a heart attack and was overturned due to public opinion. Personally, I think the 1991 change to allow local authorities to enforcement and keep revenue was the start of the issues when it became about revenue and not enforcement. Maybe we need to go back to the old days of a separate police controlled parking warden system and remove councils from the equation.
  14. You will 100% get the card in time for Chtistmas, just not sure which Christmas 🫣

  17. I am guessing the gifts from the 3 wise man were a parking ticket, a clamp and towing the donkey away
  18. Thanks Mal I have a problem with the council spending money it didn't have in the bank on a service that wasn't needed and claiming austerity is hurting their ability to deliver in other areas More parking enforcement officers, if there is a genuine need isn't the issue, its the blatant misuse of our council tax funds I object to. Now whom does one complain to about that ?
  19. I think what concerns me is that with one hand southwark say they are suffering austerity measures and cutting services, and with the other, if the numbers are correct, they spend £11.5 million on a contract for more parking enforcement officers without having justification. Someone needs to hold this admistration to account IMHO
  20. Nor weird as it was clearly there in the first post.
  21. Has the CPZ in Nunhead and Queen's Road secretly been implemented? I thought this was back to consultation stage ? The commuter numbers at Ed are down on pre pandemic and most don't use streets as far away as NCR. Could be the school at the old police station is increasing day time parking. Rarepearl your post feels a little like you are trying to drum up support for a CPZ and as recent attempts by the council show, there isn't a call for one but they will keep on trying as they want the extra revenue.
  22. Obviously not using it now eh Mal 🙄 , is that because you are not a local resident ? 🤔
  23. I don't do it so obviously no one else does eh Mal 🤣
  24. So much to discuss there Mal Most people don't choose to drive to their destination, they do it as a necessarity due to family size, shopping requirements or simple lack of alternatives so being charged to park is just seen as a necessary tax. Very few people choose to give up their cars when a CPZ is introduced and seen as an unnecessary tax if there are no parking pressures locally. If visitors or trades people are charged then they may well decide not to come to your house, and for some that increases loneliness 🫣 As for councillors engaging with school children, it's easy to present ideas to kids then get them to draw their solution as they are in learning mode and belive what they are shown, whereas adults stop and question things so it's a bit of a low trick for a school teacher / councillor mCash
  25. As this thread has now been split and aska the question "Should cyclists have the same speed restrictions as motor vehicles?" Then my answer is a resounding YES It's nothing to do with kinetic energy, or collisions but perception and pedestrian safety. Perception in terms of if the rules don't apply to all road users, then one group will see that as a green light to follow only the rules they want to hence the views that cyclists are poor road users jumping lights, using pavements and so on. Pedestrian Safety in terms of a pedestrian will judge if it is safe to cross the road not on the speed that a vehicle or cyclist is going but by how far away they are. If the vehicle or cyclist is going faster than the speed limit then the time to cover the distance will be less than the pedestrian expects. Equally cyclists aRe cited as saying they don't like stopping at red lights as it slows them down and have to expend energy starting again after stopping. If they kept to the 20mph Rule then they would have less issues slowing down and starting again.
