  1. I think that the introduction, painful as it will be for some, is good An average family of say 5 would consume 5 times more water than the average consumption of a single person so it does even up the costs. Before with a tariff set by the rateable value, there was no real awareness of individual consumption so longer showers, taps left running and other wasteful practices went on unchecked, now there is a consequence in the form of a higher bill. As always, there will be winners and lovers but the playing field will end up fairer as it will be based on actial consumption.
  2. If you remember the saf London of the 70s through 90s you would know how its moved on. The rough edges have become smoother, crime is different and even the old Kent Road feels relatively safe. Riot police love to get dressed up and if the financial crime is related to gangs then sure why not go in fully protected.
  3. Proper south London, like ED has moved on a lot, but let's be honest crime impacts any area, gentrified or not and criminals come in all guises so a raid on a house could be anything from drugs to murder to financial crime related so no point speculating.
  4. Thanks Snowy Can you put a reference to the source of this table as I can't work out if its the Tom Tom report or a TfL one ?
  5. Whilst not fully "20mph" TfL have a new tool that links road accidents to deprived areas BBC News - Road accidents still linked to deprivation, TfL tool shows https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-67936442 my personal conclusion from the statement in it "A related report found the most at-risk group was young male motorcyclists in the poorest parts of the capital." is that it possibly relates to the increase in delivery services where there is a potential higher usage in deprived areas. Scary part of the article is the line at the end QUOTE Rezina Chowdhury from Lambeth Council said: "Road danger is a social justice issue, and we are past the point where it's enough to just ask motorists to slow down or pedestrians to look both ways when crossing a road. It is about making sure in the future streets are designed with road safety built in, making them more equal and less dominated by motor traffic." UNQUOTE I can see the TfL report being used as yet another stick to beat motorists with...
  6. This makes it sound like the modern equivalent of how many students can you pile into a mini 😅 No idea on why but could be multitude of things so not going to speculate.
  7. Mal Genuine question, is the lack of response to your request for feedback from Lime users indicative of a general apathy concerning using them? Got to admit most users I see are school kids with the tell tale clacking of a jacked bike.

  11. Thanks Rockets Interesting article and great that the council are acting on abandoned hire bikes and scooters by adding parking bays for them, however I am concerned that £200 thousands in parking fines and fees is being redirected towards the scheme. Some, possibly most, of the new bays will be within CPZs where business vehicles have to pay higher rates than residents to park, are the hire companies therefore paying to park their hire e vehicles in these bays or is it part of the price they are already paying the council to run the scheme? Strikes me as little bit of favouritism towards lime and others where they should be both fined for abandoned e vehicles and also pay the commercial CPZ rate to access the bays. Schemes lile this should really be funded by the hire companies and not the public purse IMHO.
  12. Its a sign o the times
  13. Have you set up your online account at Thames Water ? If so that's where you can see the comparison information.
  14. As I understand it, the meters are installed and you then get a 12 month window to compare the cost of unmetered vs metered bills and at the end of the 12 months they switch you over automatically. However if you choose to switch during the 12 month window, that years bill will be based on the meter readings, but if you wait for the switch you won't save over the 12 months if your metered bill is lower than unmetered. So it may be that it is active but not being used to bill you yet.
  15. Is it bin day yet ? 😅
  16. Breaking news Santa's sleigh has just been ticketed outside M&S on Lordship Lane 🫣
  17. Are you laughing at the truth Mal Shame on you
  18. Parking enforcement has always been contentious http://www.ukparking.info/front-page/2/a-history-of-parking-enforcement The first ever parking ticket was issued to a doctor attending a heart attack and was overturned due to public opinion. Personally, I think the 1991 change to allow local authorities to enforcement and keep revenue was the start of the issues when it became about revenue and not enforcement. Maybe we need to go back to the old days of a separate police controlled parking warden system and remove councils from the equation.
  19. You will 100% get the card in time for Chtistmas, just not sure which Christmas 🫣

  22. I am guessing the gifts from the 3 wise man were a parking ticket, a clamp and towing the donkey away
  23. Thanks Mal I have a problem with the council spending money it didn't have in the bank on a service that wasn't needed and claiming austerity is hurting their ability to deliver in other areas More parking enforcement officers, if there is a genuine need isn't the issue, its the blatant misuse of our council tax funds I object to. Now whom does one complain to about that ?
  24. I think what concerns me is that with one hand southwark say they are suffering austerity measures and cutting services, and with the other, if the numbers are correct, they spend £11.5 million on a contract for more parking enforcement officers without having justification. Someone needs to hold this admistration to account IMHO
