  1. After watching the two main contenders on itv tonight, abandon all hope is my only comment Neither could answer a straight question with conviction IMHO.
  2. This thread is more exciting to watch than House of Dragons (who's politically out manoeuvred who, will Malumbu get his Dragon bike, keep reading to find out who will finally sit on the Iron LTN throne 😉 words will be crossed, intrigue will occur and lots of SUV sex may or may not happen) Season 2 due June only on the streets of Dulwich Village.
  3. @malumbu the question concerns is there a better way for councils to work with businesses and residents to dispose of waste? Thete was a clear increase in fly tipping when councils made it more restrictive to dispose of waste, so rather than making it harder and with bigger fines, is there a better model where recycling can be at the forefront and less restrictive to dispose of waste ?
  4. There's an article on the BBC website today talking about some councils increasing fines for fly tipping. BBC News - Londoners told not to fly-tip as fines increase https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5117rdn92wo And quite right that fly tippers are penalised, however playing devil's advocat here, as councils have made it harder amd harder for businesses and households to get rid of bulk waste, have they had a partial hand in increasing fly tipping? Maybe there needs to be a rethink about how bulk or large waste is delt with to remove the prospect of fly tipping and to make it easier for recycling without penalising those getting rid of rubbish rather than, as the OP points out, making it harder to get rid off thus raising the risk of fly tipping?
  5. So fickle @malumbu for someone who screams out about caring for the environment. Try and keep your story straight and not get diverted by things you secretly enjot is my best advice.
  6. Looks more like the Somme to me Maybe that's the point, the Gaia is the Somme of its parts 🤔
  7. Rockets, its obvious that Dulvilleres 🙈🙉🙊
  8. You might want to catch up with Jack on this, he's had crow issues for ages.
  9. Interesting to see what has occured at Brockwell park BBC News - Event cancelled after park 'churned up' by festivals https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c3gg8p770eeo Similar problem at the Rye after the weekend.
  10. Parliament debated “Carry out an independent review into Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs)” https://ukparliament.shorthandstories.com/pet-ltns-debate/index.html?utm_source=petitioners&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=[pet-ltns-debate]#
  11. Cracking Cheese Gromit 😅
  12. It's possibly in the bidding process to hold an event, gala offers to pay £x and if that information is publicly known than rivals know how much to bid next year to just beat it, however the council possibly want to gain as much revenue as they can so highest bidder wins. Therefore by keeping the winning bid commercially secret, next year someone may come in at a multiple higher as they don't know what the winning bid is this year. Standard practice when requesting quotes like this.
  13. Maybe they are gala Protesters as they have been evicted from the Rye 🤣
  14. As a reminder, this consultation closes tonight at 11.59 so if you have comments, positive or negative, get them in.
  15. Whilst Israel has the right to defend itself, with the ICJ today issuing a dramatic ruling, ordering Israel to "immediately halt its military offensive in Rafah" and Israel signalling it would ignore any order to halt its operation, are they in danger of losing all support for their plight and turning the world against them? It does feel like the suffering they went through over the centuries is just being applied to their rivals for land and you would have hoped they would have been more sympathetic to others plight. Whilst the actions if Hamas were wrong, it doesn't justify what is going on to the people of Gaza at the moment.
  16. There is nothing silly about trying to prenent accidents and making people accountable for their actions, but obviously you don't think that way and serm to emphasise that cyclists should be above the law It's about time that you realised that they aren't and pedestrians need protecting from them as much as cyclists need protecting from cars. Bring back compulsory cycling proficiency test for all kids before they can cycle to school I say.
  17. Don't be silly John, this will be the new PM (his policies make as much sense as anyones)
  18. What's a shape shifting anti lTN body ? The Dulwich Society, like the One Dulwich and other groups represents the views of some of the residents but not all and each has their place at the table and not one of them should be more important than another. Personally I don't give a hot who is and who isn't anonymous, everyone can decide whobthey want to know about their actions IMHO
  19. A nice pro cycling article from a pro cyclist by the way it is written. Ultimately every road user, including cyclists, should obey the rules so the new law won't actually have any effect, apart from the odd cyclist who breaks the rules. But back to reality, from experience, cyclists don't obey the rules, with the odd one stopping at lights or not riding on the footpath, and whilst the new law maybe unproportional to deaths, surly preventing even one pedestrian death is a good thing. Or do you disagree @malumbu ? Why are the cycling lobby so inflamed by this new law? It's there to prevent accidents and save a few more lives so if they are all cycling sensibly there should be no problem, but it's seen as an assault on freedom of cycling. Obviously it isn't, no one is being told not to cycle, just that if they cause a death or serious injury then there are consequences. So why the angst dear cyclists ?
  20. @malumbu that's the whole point of where this discussion started, cyclists on footpaths, which as we clearly know, is illegal yet cyclists still use them.
  21. @Hen123 you really don't seem to have a grasp of conversational English yet, three times you have asked me the same question and three times I have given you the simple answer of I don't know yet three times you have failed to comprehend it. Multiple times I have asked you a simple "yes" / "no" question which is "Do you think all road users should obey ALL the rules?" But you are incapable of answering it. You are starting to sound lile a cheap knock off first gen AI Troll bot. However, as that's what I believe you are, I will put this into French, just incase your developer wrote you in the international language of cyclists who all believe they are in the Tour De France "Pensez-vous que tous les usagers de la route devraient respecter TOUTES les règles ?" If you fail to answer this time, then I conclude your computer programming says "No" and no further input from you is of any consequence to me or this discussion concerning poor cycling practices.
  22. @Hen123 still avouding answering the question on why you think cyclists are above the law.🫣 As stated before , and I will put this simply because you seem to be struggling to comprehend, "I don't know how to enforce the rules" However, and again simply speaking, "I believe everyone should obey them" Blimey, if you struggle understanding simple statements then I suspect the highway code is a real challenge for you to comprehend 🤣
  23. @Hen123 I will repeat my answer as you seem to be having a few difficulties comprehending it (maybe the flashes from all those special cameras has blinded you 😉 ) Quote My simple answer, as I stated before is that everyone should obey the rules, as to how that's enforced is not my area of expertise Maybe it's yours @Hen123 in which case you tell us how you would make sure everyone obeys the rules to make everyone safe, including cyclists and drivers! Unquote You will note that I haven't said car drivers are above the law or nor can I.provide a simple solution. Now back to the question at hand, why do you think cyclists should be above the law, surly one set of rules for all is the best policy or are cyclists special in your eyes ? If you avoid answering the question again, then it's a simple conclusion that you don't agree. Avoidance is not an answer 😐
