Pavement parking is a ticketing incident across London, Unfortunately if your vehicle won't quite fit a space without infringing the pavement then the only choice is to use a different parking spot. Not always easy in a busy area. Personally I think you would be unsuccessful at appeal as the Warden will have photographed your vehicle being partially on the pavement and not fitting the parking spot isn't a defence. Good luck trying

I'm all for cutting the cloth to suit your means but can't help feeling this is a mistake as it would have kept us at the forefront of emerging technologies. BBC News - Government shelves £1.3bn UK tech and AI plans - BBC News https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cyx5x44vnyeo

It's actually starting to get BORAing 🤣

There's a huge park almost on top of the square that can be used for that sort of thing 🤣

It does seem a rather large sum of money to add more space to an area overflowing with space. Could that money have been used elsewhere to make improvements? It does feel like there is a vested interest in the works going ahead rather than forensically examine cost vs benefit. But what do I know, I'm only a tax payer

Angelina and DiD What are your goals posting on this thread? Do you want to see Bora closed down, the unit become vacant and unrented only for the landlord to let another charity fill a space on our high street? Then what, go after William Rose the ice cream parlor and a few others until we have a desolate unvisitable high street because all you can buy will be coffee and charity (over exaggerating to make a point) If you have an issue with Bora, tell them, otherwise leave independents alone to thrive and enhance our high street. When I was younger, so much younger than today, my local high street had 5 greengrocers in it, which the supermarkets killed when they opened up. Sadly missed as they provided a variety of different tasty goods, advice and a hub for the elderly to visit daily for a little chat (about price of carrots, best way to cook xyz or what's good and in season) Sadly we seem to have lost community spirit and some of us want bland supermarket goods, despite the issues it causes our farmers and the countryside. Guess next you will go after the gift shops because amazon does it so much cheaper (here's to you Mrs Robinson, amazon wants to close you more than you will know, whoa whoa whoa) East Dulwich is great because it is mostly independent and eclectic so why make it difficult for our lovely businesses to survive?

Looking at the photos 1. They have fruit and veg out on their forecourt and leaving the pavement free, this is allowed as the forecourt is part of the shop frontage 2. The cover is above the paved area, providing a clear passageway through for pedestrians and wheelchair users. Nobody is being denied passage or access. 3. Nobody is being harmed by them protecting the fruit from direct sun,and it may well help their environmental impact by fruit not going off and being wasted. 4. If you feel strongly about it, go talk to the owners, complaining on social media will get you vitriol and sarcastic comments in return as it is really to hot to be ar$ed to be petty.

You could always go look for yourself, then make an educated post on social media if it does or satisfy yourself that it doesn't if there is enough room for mobility challenged pedestrians.

Personally, good wishes to Robert on his venture, he has got off his derrière, found potentially a niche market and hopefully doesn't give a jott about sofa surfers nitpicking comments. Setting up a new business is tough and we should be supporting him, not trying to rip his legs out from under him. If you think you can do better for less and still make a living then go into competition against him. 🤔 -

Silvertown and Blackwall tunnel consultation on charges
Spartacus replied to Spartacus's topic in Roads & Transport
It is a problem that will restrict people on the NE / E / SE and further afield getting across the Thames, (Dartford, Silvertown and Blackwall crossings all charging) which isn't the samw for people crossing to the west of London A side effect could be worse traffic on thw M25 as people choose to go around via Heathrow rather than the East side or going through other parts of London where its free to cross the river (congestion charge not whithstanding) due to charges. My personal opinion is it is short sighted of the Mayor and will cause more issues than the new Silvertown tunnel solves. -
Blimey The conspiracy theories on here would make x/twitter proud. Maybe it is simply a scam that is used elsewhere and we are all reading to much in to it. But if you want conspiracy theory then it's Trump using it to wind up people about the current president so that they vote to reopen the investigation into the fact no one has ever stepped foot in the moon because that's where ufos come from and they are driven by the soup dragon 🙄

Unfortunately Sue, the least worst option is also at a time when due to conditions and people not wanting to join, the police service is down on numbers and stretched to breaking point. Sadly a quick win in reducing prison numbers will cause more problems then it solves I agree, they can't turn prisons around over night but with delays in the courts after covid, shorter or no sentences to releave pressure and a stretched probation and equally stretched police service then maybe there needs to be more joined up thinking rather than here's a great sound bite, we've reduced over crowding ....

Sep, thank you for thinking I'm sweet but as someone who has worked with the prison and probation service I do have more knowledge of how things are. Prisoners don't sit in their cells 23 hours a day playing on playstations, there are programmes delivered to help them gain skills to get jobs outside plus if they have drug or drink issues they are offered help snd support. Now if someone is sentenced to 12 months, but gets out after 4 months then the training, help and support won't have taken effect and is therefore wasted. Yes, there is a problem that we don't have enough prison spaces or staff to run them and the question that should be asked is why the population is growing year on year. The whole system needs money thrown at it with strategies for helping prisoners from arrest right through to release and reintroduction to society but most governments (this and the last) look at short term.quick gains without focusing on thw overall issues as the costs are eye watering so as a result prisoners come out, often with no where to live, jobs are hard to find if you have a record and universal credit isn't paid for the first 6 weeks after release or enough to really live on when it is paid. Therefore a large number of ex prisoners are let down by the overall system that was supposed to help them and feel their only course if action is a return to crime especially as getting caught may result in not going to jail due to over crowding or a very short lean sentence.

Rubbish What it showed was a determination to get the Tories out, any other agenda that any other candidate put forward was swallowed up by a wave of desire to get labour in. Still if you want to claim a miral victory because so called minor agendas were trampled underfoot by the stamped then I'm not going to take away from your parade.
