  1. I liked the bit In your article that said. “The statistics provide insights into speeds at which drivers choose to travel when free to do so,” says the DfT, adding that they are “not representative of the level of speeding across the whole road network, which we would expect to be lower.” And "RAC Report on Motoring 2022 asked users to select up to three reasons why they exceed the speed limit for each road class. On roads with 20mph limits, the top reason for exceeding the speed limit was “speed limit being inappropriate for the road,” which was cited by 47% of 20mph road users" 🤔 As @alice clearly pointed out, this is about cyclists not motorists. Your refusal to answer the question is showing that you clearly don't think cyclists should obey the rules, fair play on you, in that case why should motorists ? My simple answer, as I stated before is that everyone should obey the rules, as to how that's enforced is not my area of expertise Maybe it's yours @Hen123 in which case you tell us how you would make sure everyone obeys the rules to make everyone safe, including cyclists and drivers!
  2. Ahhhh, @malumbu yet again you try and twist the truth. you muat be despetate 🤣 The consultation is about local authorities not keeping excess profits from fines, it is NOT about taking control of local roads away from them. 4/10 must try harder
  3. @Hen123 you still aren't saying if you support everyone obeying the rules. Why is that ?
  4. @Hen123 please show us your workings to arrive at 85% or is that purly your opinion ? if opinions count then why do 2000% of all cyclists in my opinion flout the rules ? Ps as I said earlier, it's about everybody obeying all the rules Not just one set of people or the other but you don't seem to want to agree to that.
  5. @Hen123 it's quite a simple proposition ALL road users ahould obey ALL rules in the highway code and there would be less issues or are you saying that cyclists are excempt from the rules as in your opinion it is mostly car drivers breaking them? We can't have one rule for some and different rules for others as that would make us all Tories 🤣
  6. Thanks Alice It is a laugh out loud moment as Mal cries, it's not me , I'm a good cyclists so all cyclists must be good. Face it @malumbu the majority of them realy don't seem to care about anyone else on the road. As I have pointed out earlier, if everyone obeyed the rules, there would be less issues. But your view appears to be "cyclists good, cars bad" and you are so blinkered as alice said that you can't see the tarmac for the mud in your eyes
  7. Open call for evidence Restricting the generation of surplus funds from traffic contraventions https://www.gov.uk/government/calls-for-evidence/restricting-the-generation-of-surplus-funds-from-traffic-contraventions Open till May 25th. Please review and comment if this interests you
  8. Love good studies NOT done with British cyclists, it's a bit lile saying because Germans are well behaved on holiday, every nation is well behaved! There is a particular idiosyncratic way that cyclists here behaved compare to places like Holland or Denmark. Maybe go out and observe how things really are rather than trying to dismiss genuine concerns of pedestrians over floating bus stops and people cycling on footpaths.
  9. More disproportionate measures Mal ? BBC News - Wandsworth: Cycle speed on Thames Path to be reduced for safety - BBC News https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg303j4142mo
  10. Looks like they are rebuilding and reconfiguring to make better use of the space
  11. As I pointed out Mal, if cyclists acted correctly, didn't flount the rules and gained respect from other road users, then maybe accidents would be reduced and everyone would be happier, but if feels like you are convinced that cyclists are never in the wrong and vehicle drivers are 100% responsible for all collisions. There may be more cyclists and pedestrians killed or injured by drivers, but remember there are already rules in place for drivers so why should cyclists not adhere to the same rules and penalties? Or do you disagree and think rules and penalties shouldn't apply to all? Everyone should obey the rules and the highway code to make it safer for all.
  12. Is it disproportionate? Focusing on bad cycling may make cyclists take a less aggressive stance on the road, which in turn may make them more cautious at crossings and red lights which could result in less accidents involving cyclists. Equally, their change in attitude may be picked up by motorists who will start to respect them more resulting in better tolerance, maybe less accidents and ultimately everyone benefits. Small changes can make a big difference 😁
  13. Do the two white lines represent a zebra crossing, where pedestrians have right of way ? Highway code rule 19 Drivers and riders should give way to pedestrians waiting to cross and MUST give way to pedestrians on a zebra crossing (see Rule H2).

  16. I'm sorry Mal, there was nothing in Ted's post that mentioned pesky cyclists, he was simply drawing a parallel between southwarks desire for more cycling and not enough safe and secure storage Your ability to twist the ordinary into weird hyperbolic rants knows no bounds at times. Maybe you should have gone to the opticians (you know the one) before replying 😉
  17. I don't know mal, you tell us You're the one who took it away from an enquiry about bike storage to include cars !!!
  18. Straight talking answer there Ab29
  19. At one time cars were seen as niche and for the rich with too much money, but mass production and automation of production lines soon placed cars in the hands of everyone. Whilst I think the Jetson one won't be the answer, you can bet your bottom dollar that flying cars will be on (or is that above) the streets sooner than we think 🤔
  20. Congratulations on your 7,000 post. As a prize you get to pay to go to the Sauna 🤣
  21. Came across this recently and can't wait to see how Southwark and the pro cycling lobby react to this. Flying cars are now reality at https://jetson.com/ Although as a side note, next delivery window 2026 and at a cost of over £100 thousand - can't see it replacing Volvo SUVs just yet...
  22. Rockets Repeat after me " a Brompton is not a BMX" 🤣
  23. Sadiq Khan has pledged to help make London the "best city in the world to grow up in". Mr Khan said he plans to: Provide free skills training for unemployed or low-income Londoners Create more than 150,000 new jobs by 2028 Fund more youth clubs with a £30m investment Make free school meals permanent in London's state primary schools Keep Transport for London fares frozen until at least 2025 and never introduce a pay-per-mile road charging scheme End rough sleeping by 2030 with government support Build 40,000 new council homes by 2030 and to build new "rent control" homes On policing, he said he wants to put 1,300 more police on the streets, tackle violence against women and girls and deliver free legal support for victims. He also promises a fully zero-emission bus fleet by 2030 and to clean up the Thames, planning to make it swimmable within 10 years. Source BBC News - Sadiq Khan pledges to help make London the 'best city in the world' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-68968813 All great pledges but so many questions. 1. Where will the extra money come from to deliver all this ? 2. In times when police are leaving in ever decreasing numbers and recruitment is hard, how will he put more police on the streets ? 3. Rough sleeping, no matter what is done, some still choose that way of life, so what's his plan in that case ? 4. How will he directly create new jobs ? A lot of political hot air and personally I want to revisit what he actually achieves in 4 years to see if there was a justification in a third term.
  24. Whilst I am finding this thread amusing as it is parodying the who are one dulwich discussion, at the end of the day both the pro LTN and Anti LTN groups are using social media to portray their points and arguments and it doesn't matter who is behind them as they both use simular tactics.
  25. It's was a Sunday night, they might have had a low turnover and said to the kitchen staff finish and go home early as it saves on wages (shift workers are often paid for working hours) and had already started cleaning down. When a new order comes in they have to reset things up, prepare and cook and then clean down again after. Quite understandable if the kitchen was shutting to be honest and as a business they react to demand rather than waiting to see if they get a sudden rush half an hour before closing time. Agreed its disappointing for you, but I guess equally you could have called ahead to book and maybe things would have been different. At the end of the day it's a first world problem and you had alternative choices.
