  1. Funny, I was passing that place today and thinking how nice it would be if it became a decent pub/resturant perhaps with Deli attached.
  2. Have a look on the landmark trust website. They have some lovely places that you can rent all over the country and many near stations. We actually did a 'stay cation' in Hugenot house in Spitalfields and it was amazing!

    Stomach bug

You poor thing! sounds awful :( I can't think of any advice to give except try a emergency walk in centre. And ask for more tests. I don't know you but sincerely wish you better soon.

Couldn't agree more Louisa my sentiments entirely! I'm actually so over smug mummies sitting nursing cups of coffee for ages and talking very loudly about breastfeeding while I'm trying to enjoy a rare morning peace and quiet over a slice of toast and tea at sadly gone Lucas. I think the whole of ED is morphing into Kirstys 'Handmade Home' meets Mums-Net. Yawn.....

I agree..Even though I never shopped there I'm pretty damn sure there are plenty of elderly irish folks (and younger ones too) that enjoyed going in there, I think the loss of any quirky independent shop is bad news. I hate how homogenised every high street seems to be these days. You can only have so many coffee shops and artisan bread shops and delis and then it all becomes a bit 'Meh'
  6. I also find it offensive, narrow minded and racist. I can't help thinking poor bloke did make a genuine mistake, after all he WAS cycling away when the poster got to the front door..not trying to break in. Often at night its hard to see door numbers from the street and mistakes can be made.
  7. Great Thanks, Good luck!!!

    Craft cafe

Stag and Bow on Dartmouth road though a craft shop do host crafting groups with wine and tea etc, perhaps look into that?
  9. I live near you, and when I was on Orange (who I've been with since the company started) I didn't have any problems with signals and coverage-HOWEVER-Since they became EE I've had same problem as you, with a signal that comes and goes, very poor internet coverage, and texts that arrive hours after they've been sent. Its become so bad (and not just in SE23) that I'm going to switch provider the moment my contact expires.
  10. I'm gutted that a pizza restaurant is opening. for the dairy and gluten intolerant its just a drag finding nothing one can eat on a menu. Would rather it was a decent japanese restaurant as I don't have one of those anywhere nearby (I don't call Catford and Chrystal palace on the doorstep) Also for Pizza lovers theres Pizza Express in Dulwich Village and Sorsi and Morsi. Do we really need another? yawn......

I can see more of the 'niche' chains, Giraffe,Byrons,SpaceNK, Jack Wills,Neals Yard,Cath Kidson, Lola's Cupcakes etc....not as grim as Nandos and Top Shop which no doubt will head for Rye Lane once that area becomes more gentrified but they are chains none the less, no matter how 'tasteful' their product. I'd rather go to Dr Boo, Roullier White,Mrs Robinson for that sort of thing any day.
  12. the rents being asked for are ludicrous. Yes the area is up and coming ( or up and come?) However it is still just a local high street. ED is not Notting Hill ,Primrose Hill,Heath Street in Hampstead etc etc. Small independent businesses are still struggling and despite the up-turn in the property market most working people are still having to keep a eye on their finances, so It bewilders me how the landlords can expect what are after all small local shops to turnover enough to be able to pay the rents demanded. I estimate (working in retail as I do) that one would need to turn over in excess go 150k PA to be able to afford almost 50k rent, staff costs, insurance, stock, business rates etc etc,AND get any decent profit I foresee LL and ED becoming a mix of chains and empty shops and all the nice interesting independents moving out to Sydenham at this rate.
  13. about 10am I think. I must say I fear that LL is going to become just another bland middle class high street full of shops like starbucks,Pizza Express,Giraffe,Jack Wills, etc etc...so sad :(
  14. Hi, My last property was above a shop in Notting Hill It was on a busy road but I loved it-The shop closed at 5.30pm and on Sunday's so I could dance up and down my living room and not worry about noise..something I was unable to do in my previous place a conversion flat in a house. Like you I found it was my only option in that postcode (W10) to get what I wanted, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much higher the ceilings were and generally how much more space I got buying above a shop. I wouldn't buy above a cafe but my flat was next door to a food and wine shop that was open until 11pm and I had no problems, it was also great in terms of having items delivered as the shops were always happy to take them in, if anything I felt very safe as I knew the shops had CCTV and fire alarms which lots of domestic properties don't have. I honestly can't remember any negatives to be honest, and I made money on the property when I sold it after 3years even though the market was on a down turn at the time. Though I would say location is key. hope this helps...good luck!
  15. Agreed with above post...Its beyond me why some people on this forum tend to be nasty and sarcastic to a lady who has A;been a victim of theft and B; is trying to do the community a favour by warning others. There are some really bitter people in Se22.

Totally disagree...I've brought some beautiful vintage clothes and accessories there and will miss it greatly...I guess you are the type that longs for a Jack Wills to move into the space.
  17. Ditto. People like you Bryan restore my faith in human beings. May that little cat's soul rest in peace.
  18. Slash, Jimi Hendrix And Jimi Paige.
  19. Damn! sad sad news...I've brought some beautiful dresses from there and a lovely handbag too. I'm really rather heartbroken! Any plans to re-locate the vintage clothing? Perhaps Crystal Palace? Theres a growing vintage scene there.Or Forest Hill? Dartmouth road has a couple of vintage shops already so there is an existing clientele in the neighbourhood.
  20. Sorry but bragging about taking part in orgies to me constitutes being a mouthy little whore. there is nothing wrong with a woman enjoying sex, what I do find sad ( as a woman and far from a prudish one) is bragging on telly about it. Still its tabloid tv after all.
  21. This is such sad news, I love this shop and the wonderful fresh juices. I would suggest Chris looks at The Horniman Museum farmers market every saturday as a means to try and keep his trade ticking over and perhaps placing flyers on his stall outlining what has occurred and asking for legal advice. Also although not East Dulwich I know that Forest Hill is crying out for a decent fruit and veg shop and there are a few empty shops along Dartmouth road. Good luck to the family though I hate hearing stories like this...makes me so angry.
  22. I have to say I can't abide Luisa and find she behaves like a mouthy little whore. It does make me wonder what her poor parents must make of it. And her poor daughter! She will be so ashamed when she grows up and hears about all this.

Yes agree...it would be wonderful if there was more of a mix of stalls, and like Portobello green is on Friday and Sunday 'casual' stalls consisting of goods local people want to shift or showcase. Also I feel the whole stretch of road should be utilised
