  1. Honor Oak Park is pretty dead, and I would recommend East Dulwich or Forest Hill (Horniman museum side) over HOP. We were originally looking to buy in West Dulwich because we were specifically looking for a 1960's townhouse on the Dulwich estate. We ended up by the Horniman museum in forest hill and are delighted we didn't move to West Dulwich because transport links are so much better in ED and FH and there is a much wider choice of local shops bars cafes and parks over this side. We occasionally go a drink in Dulwich village but otherwise we stay over this side or go on the overground to Shorditch which takes around 20 mins when we want an evening out or nice weekend shop and eat.
  2. Yes..That stall does AMAZING scotch eggs, and superb salads too.

I do agree about ED Deli..went there a few times and gave up..I stood around ages being ignored by the staff once while 3 of them stood 'doing their thing' and chatting behind the counter...made me feel they thought they were doing me a favour by bothering to serve me at all. I shop at Wholefoods and found ED Deli more expensive for sub-standard product. Roulier White suffers from over pushy staff..you can't step foot in the place without being pounced on..I used to buy a lot of perfume there when the older woman worked there..now I seldom go in as I feel bombarded by the sales staff
  4. I must say I do find it bizarre the way so many mummies and daddies seem to find it ok to let their kids run up and down in busy local cafes where waiting staff are walking up and down with hot drinks, plates of food etc, and then they get all freaked out when their child inevitably bashes into something or falls over and starts wailing. When i was a kid my parents would never have let me run around and shriek in a cafe.

    Brockley?

A word of warning re; transport from Brockley, I use the overground and South Eastern trains from Forest Hill and by the time they reach Brockley in the rush hour it can be a real crush to get on. I would buy on the Western side of Forest Hill (Horniman museum station exit) You can walk to Lordship lane and ED, Easy to get to Dulwich village, good bus services a nice community spirit ( a neighbourhood piano outside the station for instance!) and lots of green open spaces not to mention Sydenham woods. Yes its in zone 3 but much nicer than Brockley. I moved from Notting Hill and I'm very happy here.

    Brockley?

If I'm honest I find it a bit drab and dull as an area. The fact its in zone two makes it sound better than it is. I'd recommend Forest Hill on the East Dulwich side rather than Brockley.
  8. I'm a Yorkshire tea (Kenyan blend pref;) with soya milk, brewed in cup, no sugar....delicious. I can't drink tea with milk however it just smells and tastes ghastly the best tea ever is made by my boyfriend...impressive as he doesn't drink tea.
  9. I'm allergic to wheat and dairy so as you can imagine I'm less than excited by the idea of yet another Pizza gaff
  10. If you are in the dos command window to send a ping you can also use the command tracert to visually see a data packet being sent and received and the amount of hops required for that packet to get to its destination. This is for information only, if you are struggling with what a ping is anything else will also have a bit of a learning curve. These aren't impossible concepts to grasp, hence the ability for Loz to explain what is going on in a few line. SO be brave and have a look........
  11. Ha! Try being on EEE since Orange changed to this company I seldom get a signal anywhere other than in the west end. Its so bad that after being a customer with Orange from when they started the moment my contract runs out I'm jumping ship!
  12. It doesn't matter who you go to, It matters more how your connection is routed for Ping times.

Marni and Prada are all about socks and sandals this summer. Its bang on trend not anti fashion in the least.

Fashion is hardly a 'pretend' job British fashion is one of our largest exports and raises many millions for the economy. I work as a personal shopper in a luxury store and I've seen the right clothes make the hugest difference to peoples self confidence and sense of wellbeing. As an example I had a terminally ill mother of the bride who once in the right outfit, which covered her scars and allowed her to sit in her wheelchair but still look chic and attractive was moved to tears of happiness because she felt beautiful again. You mention you buy all your clothes in charity shops second hand? then you should be grateful for fashion and its followers for without it no one would ever recycle their old clothes for you to buy.
  17. I saw the flash and that was followed by one very splendid chrysanthemum style firework at around that time in the direction of crystal palace, so I think it was the firework you saw.

Real hipsters reside in Williamsburg in Brooklyn and wouldn't be seen dead in ED....at a push they may head over the pond and hang in Dalston.
  19. A 36 bus goes to Edgeware road, You can get it from Vauxhall or Victoria, I would get a bus there and change.
  20. find out who the property is let through and complain to them perhaps?
  21. Funny, I was passing that place today and thinking how nice it would be if it became a decent pub/resturant perhaps with Deli attached.
  22. Have a look on the landmark trust website. They have some lovely places that you can rent all over the country and many near stations. We actually did a 'stay cation' in Hugenot house in Spitalfields and it was amazing!

You poor thing! sounds awful :( I can't think of any advice to give except try a emergency walk in centre. And ask for more tests. I don't know you but sincerely wish you better soon.

Couldn't agree more Louisa my sentiments entirely! I'm actually so over smug mummies sitting nursing cups of coffee for ages and talking very loudly about breastfeeding while I'm trying to enjoy a rare morning peace and quiet over a slice of toast and tea at sadly gone Lucas. I think the whole of ED is morphing into Kirstys 'Handmade Home' meets Mums-Net. Yawn.....
