New shop - La Bow Belle - Underhill road

Small world, I knew the guy who organised the party and lost three friends, One an ex flatmate. -
go to Roullier White on Lordship lane, they are great at giving advice and have lots of lesser known scents. I would sneak in a bottle of her current perfume and then the sales associate can identify the notes within it and pick a scent from the same olfactory family.

I passed today on the bus and there was a note taped to the door..couldnt see what it said though, It looked handwritten

Spoke to some friends today who came with us for Sunday lunch there back in January, They really enjoyed it and so when they had family over a couple of weeks ago took them to The Patch. They said it was REALLY disappointing, empty, lacking in atmosphere and the food was pretty grim with tiny ready made looking Yorkshire pudding. on their feedback its hardly surprising its failed sadly.

Drove past today..it looked closed. Has it finally closed? Sad because it started well but went downhill.

I'm sorry Doodle1 but we are living in 2014- And I think it was jolly inspired of the 13 year old in question to post on here In the hope of finding her phone and also warning others. Get off your high horse and grow up! -

Yes..I've had it almost 3 weeks...still feeling grim. Went to doctor last week and got antibiotics but at end of course still coughing in the night and feeling really gluey and rundown. weird cos I usually shake these things off in a couple of days.

Yup Sylvan Post, really good bar. And the Hob is really quite a decent pub-decent selection of drinks.

I always ate good food there but did find it a bit boring as regards choice. Also it needed more atmosphere, However I would go back and eat there again.

I use the Chinese shoe repair guy more or less next to The Energie gym on London Rd near the bus stop. He put some soles on a pair of Church brogues for me, sewed them and did a beautiful job. Wont go anywhere else now. -
Well I for one am sick to the back teeth of household items plastered with those kind of graphics...Isnt there already a shop called Lush Designs On the lane selling that kind of thing? Its not my personal taste but then again neither is Kath Kidson and she's not doing badly. An Orla Kiley outlet store or Marimekko however would make me a very happy bunny!

Glad to hear new staff are on board...I visited around August and ordered an Aperol Spritz from a moody looking girl standing at the bar, She didn't know what Aperol was...said you didn't have it so I pointed to the shelf behind the counter to point out the bottle. Then neither she or the guy with her knew how to serve so I had to point out the recipe was infact printed on the label on the back of the bottle. Must say the guy then took control and mixed a great drink, but the girl just looked bored and disinterested. -

Dogs aren't dirty, and I'd much rather eat or drink in a place that had dogs in than be disturbed by someones unruly or screaming toddler -
Forest Gate is very sketchy and I really wouldn't recommend moving there. How about Catford? I've heard of lots of young people moving there. Or Gipsy Hill-just next to fashionable Crystal Palace and with decent transport links.

Seconded... And all those who consider anyone anti the concept of private education is either jealous or a middle class leftie probably attended one of these schools hence the ignorance.

My experience is that so much depends on the actual childs ambition and willingness to learn. I went to a very famous highly regarded girls school full of kids from extremely wealthy families. Quite a lot of these kids in late teens ended up just dropping out, doing drugs going travelling etc etc almost as a backlash to their parents pushiness and ambition. When I went to college (Or Uni as people now annoyingly call it) there was a strong contingent of state educated students, and in fact only a handful went to private schools. In fact where I work now one of my colleagues has a Phd having grown up on a sink estate in Manchester, with a single parent. He is the first member of his entire family who has ever gone onto any form of higher education. And he attended a pretty grim comprehensive school. I actually find it quite annoying when people consider that paying for an education is investing in their child's future. The best investment any parent can make is to be there for their child, encouraging them and nurturing them. I abhor pushy hot house parenting as I've seen it bite so many people on the bum. and screw up many kids teenage years. I always wonder are the parents genuinely doing it for their child? or is it just to keep up with the jonses.

I've made a point of never even bothering to step through the door despite being a very keen charity shop shopper. I actually feel angry every time I see the signage stating "clothes for causes". I don't want to repeat myself but I will...I think its a scam. Give your donations to charity shops with a clear cause that you care about.

I actually got letter from Foxtons addressed to my dog Winston. I kid you not...It was years ago and the only thing I can think is that they may have paid for customer details from either insurance companies (Pet insurance) Or the vet. It made me laugh, I didn't bother complaining.

I'm going to change to Vodafone I think, my boyfriend is with them and gets great coverage everywhere. Even in the west end where I work I keep suddenly loosing calls on orange. I went into Carphone warehouse to see the various alternative options (after a pushy salesman in EE started trying to blind me with science in order to get me to swap to them. Luckily a friend of mine who works in telecoms was able to decifer the jargon and convince me not to sign up for something which was probably wouldn't be any improvement.) And it seems that most contracts with the major networks work out more or less the same. As previously mentioned its a great shame that Orange who I've been loyal to since they first started are now going to lose my goodwill
-
that theres no overground again this weekend to get me into work... don't TFL realise that some poor sod as to work in the west end shops that are open all weekend.....
-
Yes, same problem and I live on the border of ED and Forest Hill. Since Orange got taken over by EE the service has been shocking and after having been with Orange since they started I'm now about to change provider. Vodafone beckons...

Yes the coffee in the deli is indeed incredible...I really like that place. charming staff too.
-
Yes..It was another cafe..but at least they kept the original signage which looked so nice on that shop front.
