Think not how White Stuff can fit in with Lordship Lane but how Lordship Lane can embrace the White Stuff.
  2. Hello Lee. How was Cowes week? I have been one of your detractors here on the forum and whilst I still maintain that I would be unlikely to wear any of your clothes I am not ruling out drinking your tea. Furthermore I am hoping that my children will end up considerably posher than I am so I might well be clothing them at your store. I do hope you make a fortune in East Dulwich and continue to attract the jeuness dor'ee to this now incredibly prosperous neighbourhood.
  3. Peckham Pulse is state of the art. ED Leisure centre is awful. Haven't been to Beckenham.
  4. Anyone outside the Hermit's Cave on Friday night/Saturday morning at about 12.30am would have seen a bag snatcher pegging it past followed by two bouncers, two policemen and a riot van. Just needed some bikini girls and it would have been exactly like a Benny Hill episode. Anyone see it?
  5. Seems the smoking ban has limited the entertainment. Went yesterday and also noted the lack of exposed cans and weed, although the missus said she caught a sniff. Definitely less prominent but then the baby necessitates us sitting at the Herne Hill end... Nevertheless, it's definitely the best outdoor pool in Greater East Dulwich.
  6. The subversive element is very low key. It's actually a very family friendly environment.
  7. It's just the etiquette that I have observed in the past. It's the cool end. It's where you should go if you want to smoke spliff too...
  8. If you're heading for the Lido tomorrow get there before 12 - it'll be locked in at capacity by 1.30pm. Take plenty of Redstripe and listen out for the humorous announcements ' Attention, attention and that means now!" Remember ladies- if you are going to go topless then you should sit at the Brixton end. See you there!
  9. Agreed. Very moving. Will I play the wild rover? No, never, no more.
  10. I bought some glass from the 'shabby glazier' for a picture frame and I would never wear White Stuff clothing. Nevertheless I am delighted by the constant and rampant gentrification in the area so I'll give a thumbs up to the arrival of geek couture. Is there a difference between White Stuff and Fat Face? If so then I hope Fat Face take the other unit.
  11. There will be no White Stuff worn in ED this weekend - it's Cowes Week.

  13. I think she's a very angry lady. I'd love to know why... When I was a kid I always thought that 'grown ups' just meant layabouts or alcoholics. I'm still not sure.
  14. I won't be out until later on so I reckon I'll go to the Hermit's Cave....
  15. Good idea re raising congestion charge. Should also roll out congestion charges to other areas. It's not exclusively about global warming congestion is a problem in itself.
  16. Jeremy said- 'Surely the government should be improving the public transport to tempt people into taking it, rather than cranking up taxes on motorists.' It has to be both because public transport is never going to be door to door service so car use should be prohibitively expensive and public transport should be as cheap as possible to compensate for the discrepancy in their relative convenience. As regards investing in public transport rather than penalising motorists then that leaves the question of where the money will come from.
  17. Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I now know why I dont use public transport in > London. I think the reason is because given the luxurious nature of the driving experience as compared to cramming in on public transport then driving costs are relatively low and are not the extortionate stealth tax they are made out to be. I think that road and fuel taxes should be cranked up to encourage people into more responsible travel options. Out of interest you say you don't use it in London but where do you use public transport?
  18. Irata's post is a non sequitur. Whilst she does put forward a strong argument for why private companies shouldn't be incentivised to fine car users she does not address the relative significance of other unfair car use and therefore does not explain why she strongly disagrees with the quote from my post. I do not dispute the fact that a small number of people have been given tickets incorrectly but I think there are more important transport issues which the BBC should look to expose and solve. I have had a few parking and speeding tickets over the years. They were all entirely my fault. No headline grabbing documentary there I'm afraid.
  19. 'Politeness, good manners, general jollies all round, shouldn't that be the order of the day for the grown ups on the forum?' Boring.
  20. 'merely served to debunk the suggestion that it was an imperative' - you slated me for my magniloquent prose you hypocrite. You are absolutely right about optional car use though.
  21. Sean / Tillie - what's going on with you two? You seem to have great chemistry. Did you have a crafty snog at the last forum drinks or something?
  22. Hold the phone! I am the victim here. You started the name calling and at least 99% of forumites think Littlejohn is a cnut. I am calling you Jeremy Clarkson. Whilst he is a bit of cnut, he's not as bad as Littlejohn so I think that you got off lightly.
  23. I have a car and I think it's pretty cheap considering the space it takes up and the detrimental impact it has on the environment. There are definitely more households in East Dulwich than there are cars though and therefore I think parking considerations should favour pedestrians and public transport. Furthermore having grown up in the countryside I am delighted with the provision of 24 hour public transport in London.
  24. Jim the Chin called me Richard Littlejohn so I called him Jeremy Clarkson. Anyone got any other good euphemisms for calling someone a c*nt on the forum?
