If there were clubs all queuing up for the special Juan's signature I would probably agree with you. However, they weren't so Mata was practically a gift (albeit a quite expensive one). I don't think Old Trafford is the draw it used to be even when Ferguson was still in charge. Been a long time they were the first and foremost club on any young talent's list for that dream move. Barcelona, Real Madrid were always fierce competitors but City, Chelsea, and now the rich French teams are making the supply line a little too thin.

  4. Mick Mac Wrote: - > > Liverpool - 66/1 is value. How are the odds still that long? Liverpool are 4th in the league and only 4 points off top. Should be half those odds at least. If I didn't think Liverpool were so ojectionable I would bite the hand off the bookie offering 66/1.
  5. Chelsea won what is the European version of the league cup and with a manager 90% of the supporters couldn't stand. Winning that cup only made up for having to put up with Rafa Benitez. It didn't make up for an appalling league performance. Well not for me anyway. Agree, plenty of factors to also consider but I believe the umder-performance of those listed were pretty fundamental in the outcome of last season. Plus RvP was on fire. :)

Did you see the comments attributed to RvP about his team mates being in the channels he should be occupying? Not like Dutch players to lay the blame for everything at someone else's door.

  8. Alex Ferguson should have left when United were still in their pomp and given his successor something to work with. Instead he waited around to the bitter end. Now fair play to going out with a Championship winning side, but it was/is a mediocre one. As Dixon said last night and anyone with one working eye could see, United won last season's Premiership due to the incompetence of City/Arsenal/Chelsea all of whom were worse than mediocre.
  9. Carrick looking good in a very poor team. Not aure any clubs in the top 5 would swap him for anyone they already have. Cleverly = Jesus wept. Young = ditto Welbeck = lol Still, Man Utd still have Mr 300k so all is not lost, eh?!

Aye, fair comment.
  12. I suppose if Picturehouse also have regular non populist films then possibly the two cinemas could can coexist. I shall now stop being a miserable old git.
  13. No, James don't get me wrong. I just think there may be a problem sustaining both cinemas. If the new cinema was opening in, say, Camberwell I think there would be less of an issue. If there is one. Just thinking that one cinema may end up closing if there is stiff competition so nearby.
  14. Going to be great. Instead of a 15 minute walk to Peckham I'll have a 15 minute walk to Lordship Lane. Or is the cinema in Peckham shutting down? Love going to the cinema meself, but is there a need for two in such close proximity? Unless the new one is going purely art house or something.
  15. I've always wondered what they were like inside. Yes, I imagine many reputations of that sort are undeserved in the reality.
  16. Sounds suspiciously like this story isnt quite as horrific as first reported. I had images of 3 women handcuffed to a pipe in a Lambeth cellar. Not saying they weren't ill treated but I suspect there has been some sensationalism afoot.
  17. Shhh..
  18. I knew I'd regret clicking on this thread.

  20. Nothing to do with stickers but still on the subject of paranoia. Some bloke knocked on my door the other day asking if I wanted to buy some fish. Yeah fish. A door to door fish salesman? Anyway, a) I tend to buy fish from a monger of fish or a supermarket. b) I was on my way out to work and didn't want to enter into a conersation about fish. As I happened to be on my way out of the door I virtually followed him up the road I noticed the chap was on foot and I could see no van that belonged to him. I wondered if he kept this fish in a car or whether he would pull some haddock or other piscian delight from out of his trousers. Another ner-do-well sizing up my gaff or a genuine although not very well prepared fish salesman?
  21. The ones discarded on the estate behind the Cherry Tree end 'XDH'if that is any use to anyone.
  22. Another one?!

  24. I saw two number plates discarded outside one those new build houses behind the Cherry Tree pub this morning. Thought it a bit odd. If you were walking from East Dulwich station, through the gap between the estate agent and the hardware shop (I think) past the car park bit until you get to the houses on your right. In one of the gardens. Bizarre coincidence if they aren't yours, mind.

I think it a poor show that this additional information (notably points 2-6) weren't put forward about 3 or 4 pages ago, phobic. However, putting that to one side for a moment, this new info is most damning and I am not sure our stag geezer and his friend's reputations will survive this. You may very well say that no harm was done, but someone could have gone flying had they slipped in it without seeing and ended up sitting in the toxic mess. No, we pass this off as a harmless prank at our peril. Before you know it, there will be buckets of piss over the door all in the name of a laugh.
