  1. Had anyone else experienced severe itching in the last few months of pregnancy? I am so itchy I could scream, its all over the body, all night. I am going to the docs Monday,on the recommendations of my widwife but could do with advise on any creams that might make it stop in the meantime as its driving me up the wall... I know it could be cholestasis but hoping it is just another of the lovely annoyances of late pregnancy. Thanks Itching alert If you experience severe itching which occurs on your arms, legs and feet as well as on your body, consult your doctor. It could be a symptom of a rare liver disease called obstetric cholestasis. Other symptoms of the disease may include loss of appetite and generally feeling unwell.
  2. to East Dulwich. Had a look at tfl but its not overly clear...There are lots of diversions going on at the mo as they are doing TCR up. Anyone done this journey recently? Thanks Steph
  3. the next new venture for The Bishop/Florence machine Closing in March, ready to open again in May....
  4. brezzo - the 9am session at Jags - what age group is this? Looking for a drop in for my 3 year old... Thanks Steph
  5. JAGS on Saturday - what time is the session for a 3 year old??? Thanks
  6. A heavily pregnant woman on the train from London Bridge to East Dulwich, rush hour eve last week saving a seat for her husband. Four people tired looking woman tried to sit in the said seat but pregnant woman insisted that the empty seat was taken and that she herself would give her seat up if they didnt leave the other for her husband. Never heard such cheek. When the hubby did find her (5 minutes later) he sat and moaned about the politics of his work for the whole journey. He looked super fit (in a fitness sense) also which added insult to injury... Since when can you save seats on a busy commuter train by the way???
  7. Snoopy 28 - I am registered with Lanes and have had several mid wife appointments cancelled because they are just so busy. Given the choice, I would probably rather visit the surgery for reliable appointments than have to re arrange my plans all the time only to be cancelled at the last minute. I am 30 weeks and have only been seen once and I guess will only be seen twice more until the birth so I dont think the mid-wife and I will be firm friends by then. On the other hand, with my first child, we had whoever was on duty at Kings at the time. The mid wife we got was wonderful and made the whole experience easier to deal with and calm, we couldnt have asked for more. I honestly don't think it will make too much difference when the times comes.. Good Luck
  8. Hi Crescent I have only just come across your post but thanks for a really helpful post. Going to take a look at both West Wickham & Hayes this weekend.... Its such a minefield isn't it! Thanks a million Steph
  9. Can't say I am enjoying the same experience with the lanes. I have had 2 midwife appointments in 6 months one at the surgery and one just after my 3 month scan. Each time I get an appointment they are cancelled at the last minute (yesterday was probably the 4th time by text saying "I have been up all night so am unable to make it, also I am going on holiday for 2 weeks tomorrow therefore another midwife will give you a call"). This is my second child so I am pretty happy to just get on with it but the last minute cancellations time after time have become a bit annoying. Guess they are just to be busy. I offered to go in and see them instead of the home visit but was told they don't offer that service any more.
  10. today (well on the path anyway) - if anyone lost one please pm me. Thanks Steph
  11. Anyone know of really local ones, East Dulwich only on Monday's Friday's or over the weekend. I work 3 days (Tues/Wed/Thurs)... Thanks Steph
  12. Great thanks Zo? and redjam...all really useful info, just what I was looking for
  13. My plan in 2010 is to be moved to Beckenham by November this year. Mainly we are going because we have a new baby due in May have a wee toddler at home already in our tiny 2 bed flat and we can't afford to move up a level property wise within East Dulwich. We will be looking for a 3 bed house for around ?250K or a tiny bit more. I know lots of people have friends in Beckenham so I was wondering if you could ask around/ give me advise on areas, mostly based around good schools (school recommendations would be good too) Obviously with our budget we wont be in the best part of Beckenham but if anyone can advise on the middle ground areas that would be great. Thanks Steph
  14. No Peckham Rye isn't back until after the New Year. I know what you mean though, three days of predicted rain, no car, friends away...What to do with a toddler??????
  15. Maybe next time you could get a home hairdresser to pop round and give your wee man some chocolate or a treat to keep him busy...worked great with mine. I know that barbers on Northcross Road are always really busy and have never seen kids in there... I think GM's are supposed to be really great with the kids and their haircuts, you could try there? Sounds very stressful!!!
  16. Mr Men Books...Where can you buy the larger copies? I think they are about A4 in length and about 20cm in width. Have googled it and tried amazon but its just giving me the tiny versions. My son got the large 'Mr Tickle' but I have no idea where he got it from... Any ideas?
  17. Thanks for the info...I'll pop along next week on the pta day and take a look for myself... Cheers Steph PS: Are there any other mums on here who's child is starting the nursery in Jan?

  22. I think this happened again last night. My husband and I woke up at 2am to what we thought was an explosion or a gun shot.We are on Northcross...Was quite scary though we couldn't see anything from our window and didn't hear anyone pull of in a car or anything. Weird.
