  1. Yeh i do mikeb-how about a community space for use by whole community? Oh hang on, wasn't the hall used for that before?! Or how about a counter for the police to work out of? Or a health centre. Sheesh!
  2. Looks like a splinter of wood to me, but your pic is not clear.

Further reason why a cinema is not needed, nor should it have been wooed by 1 local politico. Nor will it keep yoof off the streets. Arguments for it are ridiculous IMO.

Just counter balancing the views of the posters that are focusing on the upsides . . . .is all.
  5. There are two cinemas within 20 and 30mins from here. Any new jobs created will be minimum wage or less, and no career path. Any knock on jobs will be the same. Any extra 'spenders' will increase liklihood of major chains ruining the Lane. Apart from lining the pockets of the already overflowing rich pub landlords, (who are not struggling but coining it in), any extra custom will increase drunkeness and anti social behaviour to residents, lead to later opening hours of pubs etc thus creating more grief for local residents. Lambeth council considering curtailing late drinking etc in Clapham for some of reasons above.
  6. Crikey! Lets form a clique.

I know they do, but I don't promote ED as a crime free zone or think it doesn't happen because I haven't witnessed it. Since when is having a different opinion trolling ffs?! I still maintain that both places are rough etc.

  9. Kim Humpheys you say? It's a done deal then. The council will take extra bunce, havd zero affordable housing, and build a rabbit hutch in north of borough for the working class. Pah.
  10. No. Otherwise Barber would be out of a job being a middle man for the Councils call centre and website. Hang on. Yes.
  11. Lets hope the barman that cleaned up the turd didn't wash his hands and then served the turd layer! Probably was the case as never seen the staff in that place was their hands at all.
  12. That's a shame, Sue. Have you considerd Penge or Sydenham?
  13. Gawd! These two areas are worse than Nunhead. Sydenham is just chavvy whilst Penge is just dying. Crime around both rail stations very bad.
  14. I saw the pic of the dirty git and he def looks the type to do this. His pals are just trying to cover it up now!
  15. What Stevo said
  16. Nunhead is a poor cousin. I hear it is even shunned by Pecknaam people. Seriously, it's rough, and there are large swathes of rabbit warren council estates that you wouldn't wander into as a 'stranger'. I have also noticed the eyes.

  18. Why not donate the pointless cost of the pointless tree to the Phillipines appeal. Surely that will make all the hoardes that must have tax payer funded Xmas trees every 5 yards in ED to feel good, feel good instead?
  19. pipsky2008 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > On the very edge of indifferent. What was wrong > with cinema Paradiso at the Magdela. Agree, and what about films shown at Dulwich park, above the EDT etc. Why is a Cineworld chain acceptable on the Lane when other chains are not? Turn the place into something needed and useful like, say a Police station. Local Cllr courting chain stores and chain cinemas is beyond mandate.
  20. I know money orientated people that cashed in on inflated ED property prices and moved to cheaper Nunhead-they have regretted for various reasons incl high levels of crime esp associated with gangs, unfriendly people, lack of range of shops, and a general rough area. They are looking to move out already.
  21. FM,what do you expect him to do?! Dear James, would you please arrange for a CPZ in ED as i am very fed up not being able to park my cars directly outside my house.
  22. Ritzy picturehouse owned by Cineworld. Beyond disappointed.
  23. Oh what a great idea-lets waste more tax payers money on complete unneeded Xmas tosh to add to the waste on Xmas lights etc. With all the job losses, redundancies, cut backs in social services, and caring, and the bedroom tax etc what a selfish idea. I suggest you have a whip round if you want it that bad and stop taking limited resource away from others for your 5 mins of fun.
