  1. A few of us were reminiscing last night about gigs from yesteryear and none of us could recall the musician's name, so thinking some of the musical stalwarts on here could help, such as parkdrive, steveo, otta (might be to young) etc. I am referring back to the late seventies/early eighties and it was a band that we believe were named after him. He had "found fame" at one stage, but again we couldn't remember with whom. He/they played Sunday lunchtime gigs at the Half Moon. He was a large individual (think Leslie West) and had shoulder length hair and a beard, an appearance akin to the proverbial "biker" image. He/they always finished their set with a fantastic version of Rockin' Robin. He also told jokes during the set. Any answers?

  8. Resurrected for a bit of Xmas cheer. I nearly took up new employment last week until they presented me with the contract. In it I had to disclose if I had ever been admitted to a mental health hospital. I didn't take the position as I thought it unfair as everybody knows there's no such thing as a sanity clause.

Queues down the street on a Friday evening, every week, Police from the station on the corner getting their supper, large pieces of perfectly cooked fish, etc etc. Agree, the food is not very good now, but the bloke is nice and friendly

    Black Friday

One of my favourite horror films is Zombies Dawn of the Dead. The director George A.Romero is well documented as saying it had an underlying parody regarding consumerism. I particularly remember one bit of dialogue between a couple of the leads. "Why do these people come here?" "Because it's all they know and have" There's black friday in a nutshell!!

Otta, likewise and that is so very true. In another place, the death of someone we knew was announced by a few people, with one friend stating "He will be sorely missed". The next person posted "How do you know". This caused a deluge of abuse, until it was explained the question was "how do you know he has died" rather than peoples interpretation "how do you know he will be missed", as the person posing the question had not heard anything until it was read on the forum. A perfectly innocent question/remark over this media will one day, undoubtedly, start a world war.

  24. Not the only highways transgression by builders in the area. Went for a walk earlier today and outside 111, CPR, a builder has piled up rubble bags in the road, and not just a couple to keep a parking space. It appears that the road is being used as a overspill site as the front garden is full up. Not sure why they haven't got a skip.
