  1. Plans appear to include nothing of its history! https://www.facebook.com/FullersBrewery/posts/931160253597804?fref=nf "We are going to be putting in a new kitchen, developing a fantastic beer garden and including a children?s play area for the many local families." I can only guess that the beer garden will be in the space where the back room currently is, and then to the right?
  2. The pre-flood landlord had just successfully started music nights again - filling it more than I'd seen for a decade. Then the floods happened.
  3. There's some at Brockwell Lido.

Perhaps you've cherry picked the headline; which relates to a bit of text in the article: "Some participants suggested feeling excluded from ?posh? shellfish such as oysters and lobster, while others admitted that they knew very little about how shellfish were produced and harvested". The headline is made by a sub editor, not the researcher. It's an on going research project - and as someone who is clearly interested in this topic, you can keep track of it here: http://www.ecehh.org/research-projects/from-sea-to-saucepan/
  5. Sorry, you're being a bit too oblique for me to understand seabag! I do in fact work at a desk for 'someone' but that someone is nothing to do with DE / Fullers / the half moon / anything to do with the hospitality industry. Apologies if you thought I was some sort of schuck for someone with a vested interest. I wasn't seeking a row - just perhaps carrying over some annoyance from another local forum, where people who didn't know the area of the background were deciding what would be right and wrong for the pub and that bit of HH.
  6. That didn't matter. He was making money off the bar / food, and then experimenting as to whether there was a market for the back room - it was a time when HH was a little quieter than it is now.
  7. The Half Moon doesn't have a new owner - it's got a new lease (a pub chain). Dulwich Estates remain the owner. The previous landlord had opened up the back room again and had it full on a monthly basis. With completely different programming to the Windmill / Hoot. The Dulwich Estate wanted to refurb the upper floors into flats. Southwark turned down their request for planning permission to do this. The link to the wider Herne Hill / DE / Network Rail petition is here: https://www.change.org/p/dulwich-estates-dulwich-estates-to-behave-reasonably-and-charge-reasonable-rents?recruiter=229090021&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink
  8. Why? They've worked well in Lambeth already. I've not seen one with graffiti; I have seen one damaged when a car drove into it. The main concern is that the demand in Lambeth has outstripped supply. The key issue hasn't been an issue at all - you pay a deposit for the key.
  9. There's no display at Brockwell Park this year.

  11. The HH pink car shaped thing is a Lambeth pilot - it'll get planters to make it less obtrusive / gaudy - the spacing is intentional to stop speeding into the semi-pedestrianised area. I think it's intended for train commuters / shoppers more than regular overnight storage.
  12. I've got one opposite my house. For six months it's not made a single noise even though it's full and used every day. It's also not damaged the value of my home. Cars and slamming doors, loud music, boy racer exhausts however...

Playing the troll card just because > you're one of the very people who love pubs that > partake in all of those things! > > Louisa. You're not really on your full game potential on a Friday afternoon, so your post merits a 2, maybe 3 from your standard fare. Having a different opinion to you is not 'trolling'; you casually scatter too many crumbs for even that to be a satisfactory past time. My perception of a pub is more of a place where a variety of people can be accommodated, be that with music & 'fancy' food free times but also with attractions to draw in spending customers. New blood keeps things moving. You & Fox supping half of mild and bemoaning the Norman invasion and contemplating an outr? splash of Worcester Sauce on your cheese on toast was gone long ago. Have a good weekend.
  15. Might be worth posting to the Stolen Bikes thread on LFGSS too - lots of Herne Hill / ED people on there as well who will keep an eye out for you.
  16. The Half Moon not busy? Are we talking about the same pub? It was one of the few football screening pubs in the area, both bars were busy; it sold a lot of food.
  17. So Ritzy / Cineworld backed down: http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/ritzy-cinema-in-uturn-on-job-cuts-bosses-back-down-in-row-over-london-living-wage-9827867.html
  18. Someone practices bagpipes almost daily in Brockwell Park if that helps?

  20. 4 pages minimum. At some point Louisa will say this wouldn't happen in Bromley. Cyclists will eventually be blamed. Waitrose media team will lurk.
  21. Cookie, I'm about to bin some old 700c road wheels if you want some temporary replacements?

I'd like to thank steveo for sharing this. It's got me through x4 12 hour working days chuckling in various stages of disbelief at it. The bit when he goes death metal at 2.45 ish still has me cackling. And the keyboard players' clear embarrassment when they finish is a beautiful tough of pathos. 3 days in I realised the melody is a rip off of Moving, by Supergrass. Which makes humming this a little more palatable.
  23. You live in a world of delusion don't you Fox?
