Anyone knows where will be the fireworks display 2013 ?
snowy replied to DaveR's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Last year they were on the slope going up to the Herne House - parallel to Dulwich Road. -
Sorry for ever seeing that photo!

Having just skimmed A Fish / pxyzyzygy's photobucket account, I can attest that they most certainly probably, perhaps are not a female DJKQ and that some sort of bucket is definitely required having seen a male 'naked except for a strategically placed hat' photo. I can't even begin to form thoughts about cycling in that bit of Smithfield where massive lorries decant slabs of meat. I always assumed that cycling was restricted there as it's private land, and not part of the highway. Probably wrong though. I'm also struggling how you managed to accurately convey speed in a static photo.

Sorry to repeat the 'parallel example not being better than the original' fallacy, but does your comment apply to motorbikes and cars that encroach the Advanced Stop Line? That's something that if I notice a car driver NOT doing is something to remember...

So children under 6 should always cycle in the road Jonathan?

If we're off onto anecdote again - I tapped on the window of a car driver last night to inform her that her brake lights weren't working (she'd braked sharply as she'd noticed quite late that someone was using a zebra crossing she was about to drive over and almost caused the people behind her to crash into her). She thanked me, and explained that she couldn't stop to talk right at that moment as she was on the phone. She then waved the phone that was in her hand (i.e not a hands free set), and drove off. She chatted on the phone all the way from ED to Vauxhall as I travelled on the same route.

What about a child under the legal age of responsibility - how do you propose prosecuting them. It seems that pedestrians and cyclists, who are also conveniently pedestrians should wheely raleigh together, spoke out and not saddle for anything less than a reprioritisation of road and pavement use. Im sorry that you Felt you have experienced abuse and intimidation. Alas the police will do nothing with your photographic evidence. They have different priorities and dont give a 1/8th or a 3/32th about minor infringements, let alone evidence of using a vehicle as a weapon. Im also sorry I have failed to squeeze neither nipple, flange or bottom bracket into this post, but I am quite tyred.

Because Lambeth have subsidised the Brady's site - where Wahaca will move to - and have received grants to maintain it as a community asset which will now be scrapped perhaps? For 15 years they've been promising its use as a community space, and lots of people's time and efforts have gone into that. Brady's even had visits from Prince Charles as part of his urban regen crusade, so it's not as if the Brady's project was pie in the sky idealism! The latest leaseholder inside the granville arcade had to pay a ?50k lease premium to secure their shop - it's not really the spacemakers / cost effective start ups for local people it was first intended to be is it? As for the Wahaca food, aside from your strawman argument - you get better from the Colombian shops and delis round the corner.

But not great for Brixton. Moving into a site that was meant to be used for a community asset pub / workshop / arts / cafe space. Now all we get is bad Mexican food.

I'm closely connected to Spartacus.

So no evidence, just unprovable anecdote.

If you're going via herne hill, you might as well carry on through brixton (atlantic road) / stockwell to vauxhall. Most of that route is bus lanes and it avoids the poor road surface and business of Clapham Road. There's a hill in the way though with both those options.

Barclays Cycle Superhighway Route 5 - New Cross Gate to Victoria

I'm assuming that's because Vauxhall gyratory system is to be completely remodelled at some point soon? -

I've used Lino (who's technically in Dulwich Village) for more than five years. Always reliable, and didn't even complain when the bottom sludge from a fish tank spilled on him shortly before he was due to go off to a family event. He is a man with a van though and not a hire company. If you want I can send you his number via a private message?

Have a look on the LB Southwark site Richard, unless it's just the start of you asking for them to be closed down?

He got carried away with Olympic fever and decided to give a Royal Mail pillar box in Belvedere, south London, the treatment reserved for the hometowns of gold medallists

Will ED business/residents continue to use Addison Lane?

Well I did warn you that I was being a bit glib! -

Huguenot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The majority of journeys in London do not require > u-turns, five passengers, wheelchair access Forgive me for being a bit glib, but surely if you're a wheel chair user, every journey requires wheel chair access. And are you suggesting that you can't pass the knowledge without being from an Essex cartel? -

But you recognise that black cabs are regulated and seen by TFL / State as a formal part of the public transport system? -

Apart from the fact that JG has been filmed in one of his cabs instructing the driver to break the law and use the bus lane. AL have had negative press in at least 4 broadsheet papers and their apps are being slated on iTunes etc. I don't think it's particularly good publicity if you're the chair of a taxi firm who still thinks that 'road tax' exists. It doesn't give a good impression of his understanding of his outgoings does it? Nor that his drivers aren't responsible for the safety of other road users. Nor that he's allowed to take responsibility and cover liability for his drivers breaking the law, which was the crux of the High Court decision. Do you really want an additional 60,000 mini cabs in the bus lanes? -

Loz Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Rubbish, snowy. Black cabs ferry carry people for > money. Minicabs ferry people for money. Both are > regulated services. There is no difference. > Except in price, of course. > But that's the point. That price is set and managed by TFL. A private hire company such as AL (other cab companies are freely available) can set their own pricing according to their whim and business model. Which is why black cabs are defined as 'part of the public transport system'. You pay for a bus at a set TFL managed price, you pay for a black cab in the same way. There's nothing stopping AL from setting their own prices to make more profit to cover the loss of income of not being allowed in the bus lane. In fact they do with waiting and loading charges. > Now if you are arguing that black cabs (and by > extension, minicabs) not be allowed in bus lanes > at all, then I wouldn't disagree. How would black cabs pick up fares when you're stood on a bus lane? As for the DKH example of why cyclists shouldn't be allowed in bus lanes - what you're suggesting is that a slower moving road user is put in the right hand lane, still obstructing cars, and also encouraging buses to undertake them. Doesn't sound very sensible to me. Replace bicycle with 'horse' or mobility scooter...
