  1. I wouldn't know. All my grandparents were dead before I was born.
  2. Mac, first of all you spell his name wrong and then you get his quote wrong. It's 'float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.' I loved Muhammad Ali. He transcended boxing. A truly great human being. RIP champ.
  3. I remember some mad parties in the room upstairs back in the 70s.
  4. I'm much more looking forward to seeing how the Welsh get on. I think Bale could really light up the tournament. However, being English I'm going to be optimistic as we normally are when tournaments come around and say we'll make it as far as the semis. I've got a semi on just thinking about that. And another thing - James Milner has 60 caps. That's more than Jimmy Greaves, Glenn Hoddle, Alan Hudson and Gazza. He's a very good player but that can't be right can it?
  5. Fair enough DTR, I'm not a great lover of televisions in pubs but The Castle was THE pub to watch the football in the locale for me. PS: I like Penge too.
  6. The Irish. God love 'em.
  7. Ooh, I remember that one too. Lethal.
  8. Forget the Ramrod and Special. That was for wimps. The real mix to get you wobbly in a Youngs boozer was Special and Export.
  9. I heard about this last week and I've also heard they've sacked all other staff too. It's a bloody disgrace. Jenny is a part of the furniture and fittings of The Castle just like Mary was before her. I expect a refurb is imminent and the pub will be turned into another boring homogenised pub like the rest of them around East Dulwich.
  10. I'm still partial to a Boilermaker. A decent pint of ale with a whisky/whiskey chaser. And I used to love a Rusty Nail (Scotch and Drambuie), which reminds me I must have one soon.
  11. I think Martin runs the club, so you're probably right.
  12. I'm going tonight. I thought it was Martin's thing but there you go. It'll be a first for me tonight though I may get along to Hank Dog's Easycome later which is at Skehans, 1 Kitto Road, Nunhead. The Easycome is a longstanding weekly acoustic night every Wednesday which is great fun. Some members of the Fat White Family often sit it when they're not touring and the truly wonderful Flameproof Moth and Misty Miller are other regulars. Also at the Joiners Arms in Camberwell on Thursdays.
  13. Yeah, the defence worries me, especially where we haven't a naturally left-sided centre back to give them more balance. They all went to play on the right side. I think any of our midfielders can put a ball over the top for Vardy. It isn't a difficult pass to see.
  14. I disagree. He's what Eric Cantona would describe as a 'water carrier'. In the two games he's played for England I don't think he's done enough to warrant a place in the squad. Some of the other players you could say have been a bit lucky because of their fitness levels (Sturridge, Henderson and Wilshire) but they are better players than Drinkwater. It's Townsend I feel sorry for. He's never let Roy down and has always done the business when he's put on an England shirt and he was unlucky to miss out at the last World Cup because of injury and he's been bang in form unlike Raheem Sterling whose form has been very poor throughout all of last season but has got in ahead of him.
  15. I recorded it the other night from BT Sport.
  16. When I saw the name of the thread I assumed they were the in flight entertainment. http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/ag237/jahlushhead/Cheap-trick_zpsvgnjw8ze.jpg
  17. That's great. Glad you enjoyed it. Motor racing used to be a regular feature at Crystal Palace. Formula 3 and saloon car racing were very popular there. I remember as a kid living in Dulwich Village you could hear the cars going round the track from there. Here's some old footage you may enjoy featuring the legendary Jim Clark.
  18. Yeah. Anyway, I've just watched I Believe In Miracles, the remarkable story of Brian Clough's Nottingham Forest team that went from second division mid-table mediocrity to the champions of Europe in a few seasons. Absolutely brilliant. If you haven't seen it watch it. Thoroughly enjoyable.
  19. Whatever.
  20. Oh yes, a very useful backseat indeed, Kid. It's where I spent all my time when I had the Bentley. I don't drive, I leave that to the chauffeur. Unfortunately, I had to let him go when he got the au pair in the family way. I let him have the car as a goodwill gesture. He'd become rather attached to it.
  21. 1965 Bentley S3 Continental Flying Spur Sports Saloon. http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/ag237/jahlushhead/Keith-Richards-Blue-Lena-1965-Bentley-S3-Continental-Flying-Spur-Sports-Saloon-8_zpsvem2xsgt.png
  22. I think we can fill it. We've 50,000 on the waiting list for season tickets. Yeah, one-nil to the Arsenal. God they were boring. Successful, but it was like watching paint dry. So give Arsene Wenger some credit, he got them playing very attractive football. Arsenal fans wanting rid of him know nothing about the game. Careful what you wish for. Yeah, the West Ham fiasco stinks. It isn't what I pay my tax for. And giving the Conservative Party a bung sticks in my craw too. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/05/27/west-hams-12500-donation-to-the-conservative-party-raises-seriou/
  23. The best song about football ever.
  24. "Spurs are on their way to Wembley The Kings are claiming the throne Everybody will be singing When the Spurs go marching on." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36404799
  25. The late great Bobby Moore and still going under appreciated. A subject I mentioned recently. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/05/26/50-years-on-bobby-moore-remains-tragically-underappreciated-by-e/
