I caught most of Cork v Waterford game in the Castle on Saturday, inbetween games of pool. Marvellous Guinness they do in there. Cracking entertainment.

Leeds United! Oh you poor man...you have my deepest sympathy. God! it must be tough. I have an ex-girlfriend who was a Leeds fan and it's very sad to see such a big club, although hated by so many in the Don Revie days, go into what would look like almost terminal decline.

I agree with you there Sean. I can think of three or four people that I knew who commited suicide years ago and the feeling is definitely one of anger at the selfishness of such an act in their cases apart from one. A friend of mine had a nervous breakdown and quite frankly went quickly downhill soon afterwards and was diagnosed as a paranoid schizoprenic. He hung himself at the age of 25. It was ten days before his body was discovered. It still fills me with great sadness as he was such a lovely bloke before his illness.

I'm liking this positivity on the forum about Spurs being dark horses. I'll be in one of the ED pubs early Saturday to watch the Sunderland v Spurs match and I already have a ticket for the first home game against Everton on Tuesday night. Yee har! Cant's wait. Okay much as I'd like Spurs to win the league I'm pretty sure we won't. We've always been a good cup team and that's where our chances lie. Still I think this year we could make the top four and here's my prediction. Man Utd Chelsea Spurs Liverpool I think the Arsenal are in a transitional period although they'll still be a tough propostion for anyone. I've enormous respect for Arsene Wenger who took them from being "boring boring Arsenal" to a team that plays an entertaining and fabulous passing game in much the same way that traditionally the likes of Spurs, West Ham and Liverpool have done for decades. Roll on Saturday. And for the cricket bores. Get your own thread.:))

I always thought it looked a bit like legoland but have grown to like it and I have a perfect view of it from my flat even though a pal of mine fell to his death there many moons ago after having too much to drink.

Ah yes God himself...I really hope he does well at Cardiff City. He's been one of my favourite players down the years and I can see him scoring plenty of goals there and I think they have real potential to get themselves into the Premiership next season.

Agree about the consistency of Liverpool Keef, who incidentally are a bit of second team for me as one of my nephews and especially his sister are Liverpool daft and I've always liked the way they play their football. But I think it will take quite some time for all the new players they've spent big money on to gel there although, obviously you'll be hoping they all settle in quickly especially Torres, but remember who it took nearly two seasons before Drogba started doing the business at Chelsea and if Shevchenko doesn't do it this season he'll be on his way back to Milan.

Yeah, of course I forgot about George Burley at Gretna. Spurs though have really got some firepower up front now with the addition of Bent but I'd stick with Keane/Berbatov as first choice with the other two who could come on at any time and do the business. Could be a bit of rotation there, plenty of competition for places is always a good thing to keep 'em on their toes. A young lad who I think will impress this season with his skill and flair is the 18-year-old Adel Tarabht, who it would seem only knows how to go forward and has bags of tricks up his sleeve. When he came on last season against West Ham he changed the game. A great prospect.
