  1. I bet you haven't been in since it's been done up Louisa have you? G & T for you, my pleasure. Now if you all want to carry on talking about White Stuff carry on but count me out. I've had enough.
  2. No need this should take in everyone.
  3. I didn't get anyone to defend me Louisa. Take a look at your post in your own thread about Mad Lizzie and you called me a "silly man" but get yourself down to the Plough on Friday and I'll even buy you a drink.
  4. Ah yes God himself...I really hope he does well at Cardiff City. He's been one of my favourite players down the years and I can see him scoring plenty of goals there and I think they have real potential to get themselves into the Premiership next season.
  5. Louisa, you've insulted me on a few occasions before and I'm not going to sink to your level and argue with you on a public forum. So don't be expecting an apology. I think you've given yourself enough rope to hang yourself anyway. Oh! and thanks for the support Sean, you're a top bloke and a master of diplomacy.
  6. Agree about the consistency of Liverpool Keef, who incidentally are a bit of second team for me as one of my nephews and especially his sister are Liverpool daft and I've always liked the way they play their football. But I think it will take quite some time for all the new players they've spent big money on to gel there although, obviously you'll be hoping they all settle in quickly especially Torres, but remember who it took nearly two seasons before Drogba started doing the business at Chelsea and if Shevchenko doesn't do it this season he'll be on his way back to Milan.
  7. Yeah, of course I forgot about George Burley at Gretna. Spurs though have really got some firepower up front now with the addition of Bent but I'd stick with Keane/Berbatov as first choice with the other two who could come on at any time and do the business. Could be a bit of rotation there, plenty of competition for places is always a good thing to keep 'em on their toes. A young lad who I think will impress this season with his skill and flair is the 18-year-old Adel Tarabht, who it would seem only knows how to go forward and has bags of tricks up his sleeve. When he came on last season against West Ham he changed the game. A great prospect.
  8. Louisa Wrote: I am not going to shy away like Jah Lush and pretend it's great. Excuse me, can you quote me on that? No, of course you can't.
  9. Ah yes Ted the fitba word. I got that from reading too much Irvine Welsh. I thought Hearts were doing really well until they stupidly got rid of Graham Rix a couple of years back, who had them playing good football and it looked as if for a while there they could break up the constant success of Rangers and Celtic but it's been a slow and painful ride for Hearts supporters ever since. It will be interesting to see how Gretna Green get on this season though in their first season in the top flight although losing four-nil at home wasn't a good start.
  10. I think you'll find there are quite a few Scots in ED, so feel free to post your thoughts. Tough on the Jambos that.
  11. At last a new football season is upon us this coming Saturday. I have been suffering serious withdrawal symptoms without my regular dose of the fitba or soccer as a certain former England captain has taken to calling it. Being a life-long Spurs fan I have very high hopes this season. I want qualification for the Champions League and of course it would be great if we could nick that by finishing above the Arsenal. I also want to us to win the UEFA Cup and if not then maybe one of the domestic ones like the FA Cup or League Cup. Not much to ask is it? Or is it? How will your team do? What expectations to you have? Will Steve McLaren's England qualify for the World Cup? Post here for all your football related thoughts and stories.
  12. Alternatively you could try The Mansion in Gipsy Hill, by the roundabout, which is very gay friendly and I beleive run by the same people who own the Rye Hotel.
  13. That's the best answer I've heard on the subject so far Brendan, couldn't agree with you more.
  14. I think this whole independent/chain thing is a form of inverted snobbery. I'd never heard of White Stuff until people started posting on here about it. All I care is that a shop sells decent quality goods at reasonable prices without exploiting it's workforce in some Third World sweat shop and has friendly staff and good customer service. I'm also fully aware of thier opening PR gambit at the beginning of this thread but why people feel the need complain is beyond me. They are now a shop on our main thoroughfare in East Dulwich and should be fully entitled to post on this forum whether you like it or not. I think I may have that cup of tea now.
  15. Thanks for the tip Louisa, but I already where glasses. Next time I go for a check-up though should I go Independent or the high street chain you suggest?
  16. I'll certainly pop in at some point later in the week. Welcome to Lordship Lane and good luck to you. And, hey Louisa, where do you get off? Where on earth do you get your anger from? If you haven't got anything nice to say (which is usually the case) don't bother.
  17. Too many to mention. I like a good pint of Guinness and love trying out different real ales. They usually have a beer festival in the Dog during the summer with half a dozen different guest ales on tap each week, including lighter summer bitters and ales. Favourites at the moment though include old staples like Harveys Best and Timothy Taylor's Landord, others I like are Adnams, Abbot Ale, Theakstons Old Peculiar, Fullers ESP and Wadsworths 6X. Lager I only tend to drink in the summer when it's hot these days. Most draft lagers I find fairly insipid but a good pint of Stella Artois, Kingfisher or Cobra with a curry is fine with me and when it comes to cans I love Red Stripe.
  18. Opposite Moxons the fishmongers and inbetween The Thomas Moore Hall and His Lordship's Launderette on the left hand side of Lordship Lane if you are heading towards the roundabout at Goose Green in a northerly direction.
  19. Simple you posted on the famous thread. Dead giveaway that.
  20. Not all of them but apparently Ronnie Biggs celebrated in there afterwards. It was called The Cherry Tree in those days.
  21. Rents notwithstanding a juice bar wouldn't be a such a bad idea but I like the idea of a creperie even more, something like My Old Dutch on the Kings Road, Chelsea would be perfect.
  22. I think I know who you mean Nero but I don't know his name. Used to be a villian in Eastenders and also appeared in The Bill.
  23. Willma, notwithstanding the understandable inconvenience of the station ticket shop being closed or the machine being faulty you're husband could always buy a daily travelcard from any of the nearby newsagents in the area.
  24. If your horse gets the drinks in then you're more than welcome and welcome to the EDF Jerri.
  25. That's true Brendan. A good point but it's almost like saying "Opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one." Anyway there are only two "proper" pubs left in Dulwich and that's the CPT and the Castle. Still, I guess pubs are changing and so are people's requirements. Different strokes for different folks.
