  2. It's ?150 but a lot to some people so Labour should be paying this out as soon as possible.
  3. I live on the outskirts of Dulwich Village (12 minutes walk away according to the local popular schools) and am really surprised that the Conservative party candidates (Clive and Tristan) have not been active in the area, even though I will be voting for them in the local elections next Thursday. A Labour leaflet was shoved in my letterbox last night even though I was indoors but was probably a local delivery firm. Also had a Dulwich Alliance leaflet delivered today which sets out why I will be voting locally for the Conservative Party.

  5. Townley Road used to be a normal road to drive along a couple of years ago. During the lockdown Labour controlled Southwark decided to change this and other roads in the area and now they are roping in millions of pounds in fines even on Bank Holidays! It's a disgraceful situation and Labour will hopefully pay for it at the next local elections.

  7. Of course they wouldn't leave anything behind. They're taking it off to their next holiday. One of the main protesters was in the press this week jetting off around the world on regular holidays abroad! How hypocritical.

  9. James Barber? Wasn't he part of the problem when the Lib Dems decided to put up university tuition fees some years ago from ?3,000 per year to ?9,000? Three of my kids are now having to pay for this whilst another two have much less to pay. Another reason why I wouldn't vote for the Lib Dems even though they are promising to do away with the Local Traffic restrictions all over Southwark.
  10. But Southwark are paying for toilets to be put up on the common for XR to go and demonstrate in the city of London to cause damage to worldwide trades! Meanwhile Southwark under Labour have raised millions of pounds during the lockdown and beyond in the road fines they have imposed on local people. Local shops, carers, elderly, disabled people have all been affected by the road closures they have put in place. One needs to ask what are Southwark under Labour doing with the money?
  11. All of the Pret a Manger stuff and M&S stuff can be made at a fraction of the price at home. I can't understand why people would want to buy their lunch at these places. A cheese/ham roll is what I would make up to take to work in the late 70s/80s/90s!
  12. I've given up lately on buying a hard copy of the South London Press and the Southwark News as they are always very biased in their views.
  13. I've not voted Labour in any elections for years.
  14. I'm so kicking myself for not bringing this up when a local Labour candidate knocked on my door tonight! Was so distracted by neighbours shouting and screaming but managed to let her know my views on the local LTNs and other issues in the area. I drove past Peckham Rye on Sunday and was dismayed to see all the tents and stalls on site but also the local toilet facilities! Is this a Southwark Labour initiative?
  15. Strange place for a Pret A Manger, but they always seems to pop up where an M&S local has opened. It's across the road from the train station so they might have people pop inside for a quick sandwich that can easily be made when you get home!
  16. Last time I saw something the nursery was a no no and The Charter School, East Dulwich had it on its books.
  17. Callie, it's got nothing to do with if somebody has a large amount of garden waste and can afford it! The brown bin also includes food waste which goes into the smaller caddy bin which Southwark provides. I really hope you are not putting food waste materials into your green bin.

  20. Filming must have been something big in the area as the Sainsburys Dog Kennel Hill overfill car park was taken over with the film set/crews food needs i.e. big catering lorries etc.
  21. Looks like Southwark Council (Labour) were closing roads to car drivers just to run another street market. They ran a survey in the summer of 2021 when the street had already been closed down by the council, while shops in the area had lost a lot of footfall. Now they are planning to "press ahead" with their plans.
