  2. Yes it is right for those still travelling to work over the age of 60 to have the freedom pass in London. There's not many other perks for them.
  3. Who might replace him (Boris) then Seabag? I can't imagine any other party political leader seeing us out of the other end of the Covid pandemic for example?
  4. You were very lucky boomshake. This charge is very unfair as Dulwich Village has been a normal thoroughfare for cars etc. for many years with no problem. Southwark Council should be ashamed of themselves for putting these measures in place. This started with the stupid planters put in place across another normal thoroughfare in use for over a hundred years. Please use your vote wisely on the 6th May.
  5. I can't begin to recall the amount of cyclists not just in Southwark that can't be bothered with hand signals, jumping the lights etc. There are plenty of cycle lanes that have been brought in by the Labour run Southwark Council but that doesn't seem enough for cyclists.
  6. redpost: I wondered why there are suddenly a lot of dithering bike users suddenly pulling out in front of me. No signals etc. just expecting that a car driver on a normal road can read their intentions!
  7. But there were only horse and carts in Victorian days. Things have changed and if you want to cycle with your children along busy roads and suddenly change sides you will have to either signal to change lanes or use crossings.
  8. I can't vote for Khan as he spent so much on fireworks in preparation for the Brexit vote (who saw that coming)! Also Southwark Council have so many empty properties on their books which they don't seem to want to let out. This goes against Khan's policy for the homeless in London. Also Southwark Council have created in the past year or so a nightmare road policy for car drivers. They don't seem to care if you're disabled, elderly, etc. just as long as they can rake in the money from more road closures. Been having lots of Labour people coming out delivering leaflets in my area. Didn't have a chance to talk to them yesterday but they probably know I go against the grain in the area. Then again, Shaun Bailey was a good choice for me as he would hopefully undo these things. But I have a personal reason that I wouldn't vote for Shaun Bailey and it's a shame as I think he would be good for London.

I wouldn't worry. I had to go to the Oval, Kennington to get my first jab on the 12th February and didn't get any info about second jab. Lo and behold I got a text recently to book my second jab and now have to go to the Oval this Wednesday. A two bus journey but as a carer I'm used to travelling on buses anyway so I can't wait.
  11. Oh dear, we will see tomorrow what happens! Why put more planters in when the ones nearby are being contested! Another hair brain scheme by Labour Southwark.
  12. I shopped for vulnerable people during the worst and one has now started shopping at Sainburys at 7.30am when they say it is empty. I can't say if the customer services are around at that time.
  13. Eureka! My family member aged 87 finally had their first vaccination today after a lot of phone calls to GP etc. There are still a lot of over 80s that have not had the vaccine for one reason or another so please be patient everyone and don't worry about what the name of the vaccine is!
  14. Not sure whether it's the Pfizer or Oxford vaccine, but they are doing everything to keep everyone safe surely? I just wish my family member (87) could travel to the centre to get their jab but after being told they will receive a home visit jab this week, it's now moved forward to next week. Fingers crossed this will go ahead.
  15. Thanks for posting that Nigello! All very worrying, as it seems Guys and St Thomas hospital have lost track of the people they should be vaccinating! Looks like they've already vaccinated under 75s but not the age group they should have. I suddenly got a text for my family member yesterday to make an appointment for their vaccination at Guys but the line is constantly engaged. This is on top of my family members GP assuring me they will get the vaccine next week sometime at home as family member is housebound.
  16. I read the title and thought it was about tights denier too. Learn something every day on here.

Maybe it is true (that people are not turning up for their covid jabs). If it is true then more fool them. Just heard back today from my family members GP surgery that they will get the jab sometime next week. Family member is severely disabled and housebound (87) but in my neighbourhood they seem to have concentrated on fit and able over 80s who can be taken or travel on transport to the appointments in King's College or the Tessa Jowell Centre. After phoning for info my family members surgery phoned me today to say they have to wait for 12 housebound people in the area to be given the jab on the same day as they don't want to waste the vaccine. Fingers crossed it happens next week.
  18. Sorry but that's what my mum and her six siblings got for one Christmas during the second world war!

This is unbelievable. We are in a terrible situation with the pandemic and there are film crews setting up? Meanwhile and nearby, in King's College Hospital, there are people dying and seriously ill with the virus.

  21. I remember this time (was 10 years old in 1973). Bin men were on strike so rubbish was piling up everywhere. Lived near the Greendale footpath/nature area as it is now but was then piled up with black bin bags and loads of rubbish as were streets in our neighbourhood. Also remember having candles on rather than using electricity and the coal man was nowhere to be seen. It was freezing with condensation running down our house windows. I don't know how my dear Mum and Dad coped as it must have been harder for them than it was for me and my sisters who were only young at the time.
  22. Finally got results nearly two weeks later. Inconclusive!
  23. Still waiting for results but family member is now teaching from home. They needed to have a test before going back to school on Monday so had the test the previous Tuesday. As Monday was an inset day they were able to go into school but it would have been good to know results of a test by then. Phoned on Monday evening to chase up and they took details and said somebody would get back that evening but didn't. Realise that the service must be busy but don't know if this is a problem with Burgess Park or where the test goes next.
