Kings College hospital, rubbish customer service
hammerman replied to trinidad's topic in The Lounge
We are not knocking our NHS Malumu! I've put off two appointments for myself as I'm also a carer for a family member! K -
Yes, bring back the buses for Rye Lane and beyond! Can't believe that Southwark Council are bringing in this draconian measure to a place that has a lot of history for local people and beyond! Morrisons car park is the only place that people can park their car for a shop in their store and beyond. A few weeks ago I had to drive my hubby to park in the Morrisons car park late one evening to have a covid test in the Peckham Pulse play centre car park! I hope that the Peckham Morrisons can continue to serve the community in the way they are. #

Thanks for this Pugwash. I've been holding out for a few months about visiting King's with a condition I have as they seem to have lost me in their system back in February but I know they have more serious conditions to deal with. -

I think you do need to take a rest. Rye Lane might be a dream now to cyclists but it was once up until a little while ago once a normal road for buses to transport people to the shops in the lane and beyond. We can't all walk or cycle. I really feel for the shops on the lane and feel it will become a ghost town soon.

Southwark to auction off Belham Primary's Caretaker's House
hammerman replied to alex_b's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Two properties that have been empty for 18 months in my area. Two three bed council properties that have been left to stagnate by Southwark Council. It will be interesting to see how they go forward with these properties in view of these challenging times. Dare I say that they will be auctioned off? -

Details of local Covid vaccination plans?

I know three over 85 year olds that will be receiving the vaccine tomorrow. One will be receiving it at East Dulwich Grove tomorrow evening and is being taken by car by a neighbour. The other couple are being taken by car by my other half tomorrow afternoon for an appointment at King's. -
Southwark to auction off Belham Primary's Caretaker's House
hammerman replied to alex_b's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
This is nothing new (Southwark selling off council properties). 7/8/9 years ago I noticed auction boards going up outside some empty council properties in my area. They had been empty for months after the tenants had passed away. The auction signs said something like 'property for sale, by order of Southwark Council'. The auction house was Allsops. When I went on the Allsops website I couldn't believe the amount of properties that were being sold off 'by order of Southwark Council'. Denmark Hill Estate, Peckham, Dulwich. -
If there was a vaccine for a cure for cancer?

Will Norman, the bloke for cycling etc. is the person to bring into the equation for a lot of what is going on not just for Southwark but all across London! He proudly stood for photos in front of Bessemer Grange Primary School but is now nowhere to be seen for questions about the consequences!
-
Bessemer Grange School Streets thing is a waste of time. Lots of parents parking up in nearby streets for drop off and pick up. All probably living nearby in the surrounding areas and beyond! Most of them could have dropped off/picked up their children within walking distance but choose to park up nearby.

Some independent stores are taking advantage of C19

Cien handwash is Lidl's own brand and is selling in their stores for 59p for 500mls. The carex stuff is 250mls and selling for ?1. It's all the same, antibacterial etc. -
Went round this morning around 10.30am and most things seemed in stock except the loo rolls etc. I was looking at something on the Argos section and noticed somebody bringing out a massive pallet of Heinz baked beans. They were very popular! Nothing on the baby section i.e. all baby wipes were cleared out and nappies. Couldn't pick up a hellmans mayonnaise as shelves were empty but managed to get a last one of Sainsburys make so will see how that compares. The cereal aisle was empty as was the tea bag section. Surprisingly the bread section was well stocked.
-
Went to Sains around 2.30 today to pick up some bits. Lots of fresh food in stock. Walking up the central aisle I did notice that someone was pointing out about the handwash situation i.e. not a lot on shelves. The baked beans section seemed to be empty as well. Toilet roll/hand towel section was more or less empty. Didn't notice the pasta section as not a lover of pasta. Lots of cat food/biscuits which I always pick up as find Sainsburys are the lowest in price for this. Bread section well stocked with dates up to the 12th March although when I went to pick up my usual tins of the tuna fish there were none and the shelves were empty. I always go to the last aisle to pick up some little pots of jelly and some peanut butter random other bits for cake making but found there was a terrible stench of drains/rotten eggs.
-
I live a 5 minute walk away from Bessemer Grange Primary School and they put in place a Healthy Street thing a year or so ago to discourage parents from parking nearby. They also cut off streets for people who live in them and created a lot more traffic at drop off/pick up times with no enforcement from traffic wardens etc. This has not stopped parents who live a 5 minute walk away from using their cars to drop off their children. I really feel for the children who are probably having lessons about the environment etc.

Labour in Southwark will ingnore all objections to any plans. -
I'm surprised by Renata's information and hope you get your choice of school in the area sorted.

All the more reason for people to put their bins out for collection on the designated days.
-
I've had two blue recycling bins for about 8/9 years now. I would phone the main Southwark Council phone number on 0207 525 5000 to ask for advice.
