  1. The main ED section seems to be very negative recently - all crimes, criticisms and complaints. I wonder why? With the new cinema, house prices etc the area seems to be moving up another level, so there must be plenty of good stuff going on too surely?

The spaniel, which had put up the rabbit in the first place, was too confused to go near either of them. I was on the ground crying with laughter. The rabbit waited for a moment or two, then sauntered off. It was Yorkshire rabbit. That may make a difference.
  3. Popbitch has covered all angles on that one, steveo. Dog vs rabbit. The answer seems obvious, and yet I still recall our terrier's grunt of surprise as the rabbit ran between his back legs and head-butted him in the stomach.
  4. That's one of the joys of the NFT (or BFI if you're under 30): no noise.
  5. If it's any consolation I live in a road the rest of the village thinks is beneath them and I can't afford to buy in ED, never mind DV, but it's a lovely place to be.
  6. Cold shower for Salsaboy... Louisa, think I've been spoiled by living in DV. F Hill always feels a bit sad to me somehow.
  7. Define 'nice'?
  8. I don't mind the shed but I don't fancy Forest Hill much.
  9. According to Wikipedia, hipsters have liberal values, so you're probably safe.
  10. Presumably it's the plot you're paying for. Bet the buyer spends the next couple of years applying for planning permission.
  11. No need to be rude to me as well, Jah Lush. Actually it was just yours that did the damage as according to the times she deleted it before Louisa published. I might have agreed with you, true, but now we'll never know.
  12. Why was the OP deleted? You should reinstate it - don't let two people put you off.
  13. His mother has a lot to answer for...
  14. You might find them a bit fatty, judging by the amount of suet cake the furry little bsatards hog each day.

  16. In the five or so years I spent with DMC before finally giving up, I felt that because there were never enough doctors and a lot of locums, I never saw the same person twice and they didn't have time to read my history or consider problems holistically - they just focused on the most obvious symptom and the response was usually a prescription or occasionally a referral. To me they seemed to operate, as I've said on past threads, as a triage centre for the wider health service. Perhaps this is how the NHS is supposed to work nowadays, but I don't get that impression from my current GPs even though they're very busy too.
  17. It's lovely that he's (still) doing thoughtful things. Maybe try telling him what you're doing before you start so he can time it better? I think this is why a lot of us end up giving a running commentary on so that other people can get what they need from it. Or just shout back 'I'm washing my hair'.
  18. Not raining on someone else's parade there, by any chance?
  19. I find that really annoying, Salsa. I chase them off by spraying them with water from am old washing-up liquid bottle. Slightly concerned what the neighbours may think though as my range is about one and a half gardens.
  20. Or to borrow a classic from the Dulwich Raider, Boy Georgian with a hint of Jedwardian.
  21. Go with the impulse, Louisa. I'm wearing pink sunglasses too and they do make the world a warm and friendly place, even on duller days than this. Highly recommended. On my way to Kingston to enjoy the light on the river as it'll be even brighter there.
  22. If this was a school it would have been labelled 'failing' and put in special measures years ago. Why doesn't this happen when there are lives at stake? You would have thought that even this government could find good reasons to make it work as if people can see a GP quickly they spend less time off work and more paying lovely tax.
  23. I was astonished to see them say that there was a problem getting appointments 'last week'. I left three years ago after more than five years with them and it was always a major issue. Nor can I see how 'additional GP cover' this week and recruiting one more GP longer term could possibly resolve the current issues. My experience was that the place ran largely on locums anyway. It looks from their message as though they expect the pharmacists to provide cover, just as recently they've been relying on other practices to pick up the slack, but that's just not good enough when people want to see a GP. While it's a step forward that after years of complaints they are engaging with patients, I still get the impression that their decisions are driven by profit rather than care.
  24. It's just piss-poor customer service really. Part of the problem is that they're so focused on the internal reality of the company that they've totally lost sight of what customers actually want, and they'll only get it when customers go elsewhere.
