Typical of my ruddy luck. I told anyone who cared to listen that, with this current strike-force, United are a good "Lay" at short odds in many Away matches and they have to play Burnley Away on the only Midweek evening that I have to work. Lay United ?600-?200 ON and do Burnley/United at 40/1= ?600-?15 and "Draw-United ?100 @ 4/1). As long as United don't lead at Half-Time you are on a big winner, whatever the result.

Shots fired into Peckham house....

I suspect there is another disturbing feature about this type of episode, which is fairly close to home for many. -

Monday, 17 August 2009-South London Press SHOTS were fired into a house after a street fight. The brawl broke out between two groups of youths on Cronin Street, Peckham, at about 10pm on Sunday. In the aftermath, four teenage boys were chased along the road by two teenagers, police said. The four entered a nearby house and one of the teenagers chasing them fired shots through the window of the ground-floor front room. The pair then ran off in the direction of Commercial Way. No one was thought to have been injured. All the youths are described as aged in their MID-TEENS. The Met?s specialist shootings team is investigating the incident. No members of the public were caught up in this but it is weird to think that there is some kind of parellel universe existing, in parts of an Area, so near and yet, in reality, so far from East Dulwich. The really disturbing thing is that these Guys were in their Mid-Teens....

Interesting banter on certain Football Forums between West Ham fans and Spurs fans regarding The Hammers forthcoming "2 games at Home in 2 days"...Hammers fans say they would rather lose 5/0 to Spursand beat The Wall. Spurs reply with "You consider there is a greater rivalry with a 3rd Division side!!"...and then add that says a lot about you(!) referring to West Ham, of course. Then The Hammers fans retorted "No! this says more about YOU !".....:))

NHS staff - 50% higher rate of sickies
Tony.London Suburbs replied to MrBen's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Having worked in a Nationalised Industry ( Coal ) for 16 years and known many other Public Sector Workers in Local Government ( Southwark/Lewisham, in particular) and known many Employees of British Gas and British Steel, I know it was ( is???) considered very poor form, at grass root level, if the average worker did not take up their share of "sickies" per year. For the first few years at The NCB I was one of the few white-colar workers who didn't have considerable time off and my colleagues were ( generally) not impressed. I would like to see a comparison made over all Industries regarding levels of absence between the Public and Private Sectors both working in similar environments, in the same line of work. -

Please don't mention The Walworth Road as I will become misty-eyed and homesick and nostalgic 26 years since I departed that wondrous place. Haven't been back there since, well last Thursday actually...:) You can take the Boy away from The Walworth Road but you can't take The Walworth Road away from The Boy... -

Always up for a bit of banter Wolfie but the fact is that the drinks ( naturally and understandably) are on a Friday/Sat Evening which are two of the only 4 3-Hour Shifts that I have to work ( Sat Morning/Wednesday Evening being the others). So,realistically, it won't be for a while though I have come tantalisingly close to popping in to 1/2 Pubs mentioned on here, regularly, to see if I can buy anyone a Shandy...B) -

Nice cyclist who ran over my neighbours puppy chocolate Labrador last week at Surrey Quays when the puppy slipped the lead on a pedestrianised part of the area. Left the puppy bleeding and crying after hitting it and did not even stop. The puppy will make a full recovery I'm glad to say.

Sad story, actually. They wanted to find the East Dulwich equivalent of Constable?s sunlit Suffolk and Wordsworth?s dramatic Lake District. The wild moors of Bront? country and Thomas Hardy?s ancient Wessex. Would they experience the bleak beauty of the Fens? The dramatic, rugged shoreline of Cornwall, or the gentle hills of the Cotswolds? In their quest they visited tranquil East Dulwich. It was then they encountered East Dulwich's own "S.E.22.(pel dem) Squad" and got involved in a mass gang brawl at the height of rush hour. Adam and Jane were well-known as "Adam and Jane" the Stars of BT's succesful and intriguing advertising campaign, however, what the general public did not know was they were part of the notorious BTBlock (Pel Dem)Gang. Their street names were "Ja-Ja" i.e. Adam and "Birdie" i.e. Jane. Passers by were left stunned as the two groups set upon each other in Dulwich just before 5pm on Thursday. It is believed a row may have started on a bus and then spilled out onto the street. Police raced to the scene to find an older man with fatal knife wounds to his leg and a Woman who had been stabbed in her legs and arms and heart, wounds she was not to recover from. Neither made it back to their hoods but Memorials have been put in place for Ja-Ja and Birdie of the BTBlock (pel dem) crew. Maximum Respect to 2 fallen BT soldiers.

Where's Mozza disappearred to?
Tony.London Suburbs replied to Tony.London Suburbs's topic in The Lounge
I trust this is some kind of sick joke about Mozza not being the full ticket. He informed the World that I was "simply marvellous" which I,naturally, assumed he meant. Was it all a ruse? Was I the victim of a cruel jape? Am I not "simply marvellous" at all? Will he retract my dinner invitation? ( if he exists)....?? -

Just realised I've only had "Pie 'n Mash" 3 times in my life, including one memorable occassion next to West Ham Football Stadium at Upton Park. That WAS an absolute squeeze which I'm still trying to fathom out 25 years later... Me:"Pie 'n Mash, please" Owner: "One Pie 'n Mash with Liquor, Charlie" Me: " No thanks, me old M8, just Pie 'n Mash please" Owner: "Sorry?" Me: "Er, just Pie 'n Mash, please" accompanied with a cheeky Cockney smile... Owner: "You can't do that" Me: "You can't do what?" Owner: "Have Pie 'n Mash without the liquor!" Me: "But I don't like liquor!" Owner: "You GOT to have the liquor!" Me "But I don't want it!" Owner: "Sorry no can do" Me: "I'll tell you what M8 ( said more firmly now) I'll PAY for the liquor but I do NOT want it, all right?!":X Owner: "NO!!".... Its posible I may have slightly strayed off topic....
