  1. I wish the contractor or some knowledgeable tree person would explain why they have to be quite so severely pollarded . I think they look awful .
  2. Another one here who raised the issue of the comedy bike lane with Southwark during the ( also comedy ) consultation . Cycling down Rye Lane is something I avoid ,using Bellenden Rd instead . In common with many others .
  3. Do the trees really have to be pruned/pollarded so severely ? I suppose they do ..... I know nothing about tree care .
  4. Well done Robin .
  5. Some of the trees in Barry Rd have been left with practically no leaves - near 157 and junction of Barry and Goodrich . Seems very harsh - are there any tree pollarding experts who could reassure that this is ok ?
  6. Good point Sue . Back to being grumpy....
  7. I've just received a letter notifying me of "some changes to the way my team in East Dulwich deliver to your address ". "What this means" is that I will recive my mail later or possibly earlier depending on where I am on the new delivery route . I have no complaints about my postal delivery and think the Royal Mail is a fantastic service . But I do wonder if there is any point in the composing and delivering of this letter . But perhaps I'm just grumpy .
  8. The noise of strimmers /chain saws and the smoke from land between Friern and Barry Rd is driving me mad . Please ,please let it stop soon .
  9. Tesco SIM ( O2 ) ,pay as you go ,Nokia http://phone-shop.tesco.com/mobile-phones-and-sim-cards/pay-as-you-go-phones/Tesco-Mobile-Nokia-100-215-7201 buy on line
  10. Yes yes to reposition the zebras ( though can you imagine the upheaval and time involved ! ). I always thought it was just me imagining them too close .
  11. Oh Linda I remember that - though I was never brave enough to adopt that style ! Will PM you .
  12. As a driver and cyclist I wish drivers would use their INDICATORS when using Goose Green roundabout . Many of those travelling down Lordship Lane and heading west down East Dulwich Rd seem to rely on telepathy to convey their intended route.
  13. My mum wants to know why the " games makers " have a whole uniform ,including shoes and a bag . She says a simple sash would do .
  14. Ok - thank you very much for replying and easing my troubled mind !
  15. Thank you both . But won't London Bridge be a no no ? I keep reading about hot spots ..... I'm inclined to believe you both - I'm just infected by this insane Olympics stuff by doing too much research .
  16. Having looked on various sites ( tfl ,BBC ,Getahead ) I now have a blinding headache . It seems to me that although the roads and underground will be busy ,the buses ( 36 ) seem to be running normally . But presumably the beach volley ball at Horseguards Parade and live screening at Hyde Park will have particular impact . TFL journey planner doesn't show increased travel time . What do people think ? Bus all the way ,allow ? 90 mins Underground from Victoria ? Please help ,there is so much info on line ,I'm not sure I'm nmaking sense of it ......
  17. Yes ,I have tried that ,endlessly . And Southwark's site ,and the BBC . Am now despatching partner to Peckham to question police .
  18. Can anyone help with my query ?
  19. I've been trying to check ( on the getahead site )for impact on roads around Peckham during todays Torch Relay . As far as I can see there will be none . I find this hard to believe . Has anyone else looked ,can they give a link ? Or even better just give the details .

  21. Re: Timings for Torch route along Peckham High St/Rd on 26 July Posted by Applespider July 22, 02:56PM It's not that hard to find the street by street timings around. The BBC torch site has them - and lets you know if it's on schedule on the day... [www.bbc.co.uk] Be warned - crowds tend to start gathering at least 30 minutes beforehand. I think the points listed here are the actual torch 'kisses' where it's busier but you do get to see it for longer than when it's just going past. 10:30 Old Kent Road A2 10:41 Trafalgar Avenue B215 10:47 Sumner Road B215 10:52 Peckham Hill Street B215 10:56 Peckham High Street A202 10:57 Peckham Road A202 11:00 Lyndhurst Way 11:00 Harris Academy at Peckham 11:57 Lyndhurst Way 11:57 Peckham Road A202 12:05 Camberwell Church Street A202 12:09 Lambeth 12:09 Denmark Hill A215 12:10 Coldharbour Lane A2217 12:30 Acre Lane A2217
  22. A million thanks applespider . I didn't realise that the info I wanted would be on the BBC website and not the official 2012 site . And I am very grateful that you've reproduced the itineray as having read the instructions on the BBC site ,my brain has gone into lockdown . Feeling very stupid !
  23. I believe it's predicted to pass bottom of Bellenden Rd about 11am ? Will be ( note absence of adjective " want " ) taking elderly mother in wheelchair to view and can't cope with uncertainity about time . I've looked on 2012 site which gives route but haven't seen anything about times . Please don't tell me I've got to sign up for twitter to access info .( grumpy )
