  1. And I remember being challenged by a Dulwich Estates official ( wearing mustard coloured plus fours ) for cycling on a road in the park ( think the one from Court Lane Gate that goes down towards car park ) . Those were the days . Not .
  2. I'd keep her in until she's older .

  5. My mother's surgery take blood for tests . But it was all a bit difficult ,messy ,drawn out and painful last time . I thought maybe because they do it all the time and have loads of practice that the drawing of it might be easier at the hospital . And this time it was . Though even then I guess things like dehydration must cause problems .
  6. I was told by the staff in Andersons that some chap used a piece of dismantled table from the pizza place opposite and went down the road attacking shop windows . Andersons windows withstood the attack . Apparently this was 10.30 in the morning ,lots of customers in shop . Think they said it was last Thursday . Police called ,person caught .
  7. Guess it's the luck of the draw . We were dealt with effeciently and professionally - success with getting the needle in first time and no bruise ! Result . The guy was lovely . And I felt very sorry for him - what a job stuck in a viewless cubicle with an overflowing waiting room of patients . Some of whom were unable to contain their disgust at the length of waiting time .
  8. Why is there going to be a massive light show ?
  9. Thanks . I'm taking my mum ,she's in her 90's and there's no chance of getting her there by 9 am what with waiting for her masses of diuertics to work first ,getting her dressed fed and watered .... Fingers crossed we'll be lucky .
  10. Thanks ,thought they did . Anxiety makes me doubt the info I've got through googling ,just wanted to make sure it was up to date .
  11. Can't remember if it's still possible to have blood tests done there .
  12. Thanks for that . Bit silly of me as it's obvious really if it's sold next to uncooked meat . In the past I've chopped it up and added to lentil soup with no prior cooking ,but I was wondering . We've suffered no ill effects .... the sausage contents do look pretty cured ,but I'll pre cook it from now on !
  13. I bought some in the week and guess as it was displayed along with raw sausages that it needs cooking before consuming . Am I right ? ( would have asked while in there but it was mayhem ) .
  14. Something harder and sharper than a football to cause a broken windscreen ?
  15. I saw that the windsreen of the bus was broken .Can't understand how .
  16. My mum who is in her 90's lives alone not far from Waghorn Rd . I'm in that area daily and it seems very quiet . As I'm sure you know ,trouble can happen anywhere - tho IME it tends to be where you have two areas next to eachother but with very different amounts of affluence . Deptford and Greenwich come to mind . Maybe large estates next to roads of middle class housing . But the area round Waghorn is quiet and settled ,I really wouldn't have thought you need to be concerned about living there ,
  17. Oh I am so very sorry . What a terrible thing to happen ,and your 6 year old present during the attack . I don't know what to say . I'm so sorry .
  18. and make all the pavements and crossovers as smooth and puddle free as Court Lane so that old people with limited mobilty and eyesight can get out and walk . Or enable their carers to push them in wheelchairs .
  19. oh and bring care agencies providing home care back under Southwark control - train them ,pay them a decent wage ( travelling time ? ,ban 0 hour contracts ) .
  20. but off the top of my head - move the Betty Alexander Suite ( holistic ,accesible ie doesn't use the nightmare that is hospital transport to Kings ) back to Dulwich Hospital . Or somewhere else ,so long as it's not Kings ,doesn't use Kings transport and deals with whole ( incredibly complex health issues of elderly ) rather than just one bit ,in isolation ,at a time . Do something about the interface between District Nursing teams and GP practices . And improve the training of the health care assistants who visit on behalf of the district nursing teams ( blimey would their performance be tolerated by the yuppie mums around here with babies ? ) . Um ,well sort out health care for elderly ...foot care ? what's that ? Wound assesment ? What's that ? Tissue viabilty advice ? Incontinence .....oh is there a difference between general mobility and loss of bladder control ? Provide adequate funding for the bit that provides equipment and assesment for elderly ...how many O.T's are there ? How many drivers delivering equipment ? And sort out the f***ing pavements in Peckham .
  21. aargh - such a wide brief ,don't know where to start . can I come along to some kind of discussion ? my experiences are very individual ,formed by caring for mother and friends mother . don't know how to make relevant in a wider sense . tho I'd love Southwark to sort the pavements out in Peckham - drives me wild ,one standard for the luvvies of East Dulwich and another for Peckham .
  22. Cliff on 07931 540287 is good and usually prompt if you want to go down the repair man route . He's fixed my elderly Hotpoint a couple of times .
  23. Supergolden ,try and keep strong - this is horrible I know but so common and so fixable . And we're lucky being near Kings and the fantastic Mr Bidmead . Where did you get the information that the success rate for surgery is low ? ( my own repairs have been succesful ,tho may be different from yours ) There's a lot on mumsnet health section about repairs ,this thread for example http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_health/777985-Continued-support-for-SPHINCTER-INJURIES-FISTULAE-and-other-CHILDBIRTH-INJURIES?pg=37 Good luck .
  24. I am told that this one in New Cross A GP practice and walk in centre based in the Waldron Health Centre. Telephone 020 3049 2370 is much less busy .
